Women had it easy, the ugly looking man thought. They just had to open their legs wide and they could get free meals. They only had to stay docile within their caged thrones as consequence. Men like him had to lie, steal, kill and bleed to have a chance at life in these wastelands. Equality was a dream of fools. It does not exist. At least, not in this world. "It's an ugly world. Maybe even uglier than I am. Hahaha!" the ugly looking man thought as he waited for the wide eyed boy before him to get over his stunned state. He believed that the boy was a smart one. The boy will eventually make the right decision.

Chapter Fifteen. Nina's POV This is surely disturbing. I have never imagined that this would happen in my entire life. It's not new to me to be looked at or unable to stare, being the so-called-nerd and outcast in my previous school, gives you quite an attention. Some would have that mocking smirk plastered on their lips, and some would show that disgusting look on their face. The rest would just ignore and threaten you like air, in the worse case like trash.

They grabbed ahold of the grate that covered the Klondike, pulled it loose like it was nothing, and quietly leaned it against the building, leaving a gaping hole in the ground in front of them that seemed to disappear into black emptiness. I imagined what it would be like to be dragged down there as a prisoner, but when I closed my eyes and thought about those steps leading down into the abyss, it wasn’t images of prisoners I conjured. It was images of a teenage boy, shrieking, as something—a monster—grabbed his ankle and heaved him down below the ground into the darkness.

In her haste she had carelessly dropped the black hairpin, now part of her hair was hanging loosely. She couldn’t stand being in a cage near the other large cages containing the dormant Outsiders. They were about Human sized, their lower and upper abdomen had a series of paddles for limbs: It was just like the turtle’s but it was more numerous, curved and had sharper tips. They also had long necks and a round head with single large eyes embedded within a pair of large pointy ears. The most disgusting thing about the Outsiders were their slime covered skin and smell. Wendy went cautiously round the corner of a corridor. She could see a door; it was the exit she was free!

Chino had mentioned, though he wasn't a farmer in the dingle. His memories of old movies and lessons from school fueled his imagination, and he imagined cotton fields. Then his pornography cerebrum got Harriet Dixon from the rivulet. The estate proprietor would do terrible things despite his better half's good faith, while his little girls had a muscle-bound individual of color ramrodding their twats.

The idea of spending the whole afternoon doing shopping or touring the city lifted my spirit. The Outer Eden is way too different from Inner Eden and Central Eden. The area was filled with smug garbage and the stench of the city. Condominiums and structures were so dilapidated that you could see the grime and graffiti on the walls. Central Eden and even Inner Eden look prosperous; this part was the opposite. I can see some people huddled together in a fire wearing dirty clothes. Everyone looks hungry and sickly. One minute, he was my tormentor, the next, my shadow. When we reached the outskirts of the forest, my stomach dropped. Bad luck must have been written all over me tonight because standing there, leaning against a rusted lamppost, was the last person I wanted to see—Jonan and his gang of pricks. “Well, well, look who finally decided to crawl out of the woods.” Jonan grinned, his dark eyes locking onto mine with the same sick amusement I’d grown used to. “What were you doing out there, wolfless? Trying to summon your non-existent wolf?”

Stopping is how they catch you. I drop to the ground on the other side, landing badly, my ankle screaming in protest. I bite my sleeve to keep from crying out. The taste of dirt fills my mouth. Mud coats my knees, my hands, my skin but for the first time, no one yells at me for it. I’m outside. The orphanage looms behind me, dark and hulking, its windows like empty eyes. From here, it looks almost peaceful. It’s not. I turn and run.

“Behold! The ones the gods rejected!” Laughter rang throughout the theatre and drums began to sound, filling the entire place. More horns were blown. Then a huge gate in the fence was thrown open and a few seconds later, 10 slaves were led out in chains. Maggie squinted as she watched them all walk into the sand pit. A second later her eyes widened and her heart dropped...there in the circular pit were younger versions of Eldan, Percy, Jackson, and Olivia among other people. But what made her eyes widened was the last man standing with them, a younger version of himself as she had never seen him before.

People were struggling to feed, eating from stale bread, rotten meat, and whatever things they could find edible. Ophelia pushed her way past some men selling items that were obviously stolen. As Luna of the Crimson Paw's pack, it was forbidden to step foot in such an area, because it was situated with outcasts. These people might try to hurt her because Up Easton residents were hated for living the perfect life; wearing clean outfits, eating good food, throwing parties, and having thousands of pounds in banks.
