The sky began to turn bright, the first hint of dawn creeping over the jagged peaks of the Black Ridge. Eilís stirred. He let out a low moan, his eyes flickering open. He sat up abruptly, the fur cloak sliding down his chest. He looked at me, then at his own hands, then at the clearing around us. "Raven?" "I’m here," I said, my voice thin and high. I stayed a few feet away, clutching my own cloak around my shoulders. He moved toward me, his expression twisting with horror. "Did I... did he hurt you?"

CHAOS’ POV I let my mind wander back to all that has happened today, the unending catching up and what not. In as much as it felt good to be alive, it didn’t help that this place awakened bad memories for me and to make matters worse, my innocent son, okay my semi-innocent son Xavier was here in this infested pack.

-R The Hideout was a secluded bar just for biker members and a known rendezvous spot for the Ravens. It was where they went when they didn’t want to be found. I had been there a few times with Rook or Torin, but never on my own, and never for something like this. Glancing at the clock, I saw that it was already eleven fifty-five. Time had flown, and now I had to decide if I was ready to dive into whatever mess Rook was in. Taking a deep breath, I grabbed my keys, license, and some change, then headed out the door.

It was the perfect night for dying in your sleep. Raven was hooded, wearing a long and thick black robe that hid his body features. He was walking majestically without any company, with a smile of success on his face. He had killed the second of his ten remaining step-siblings yesterday—practically driven up to her shabby house in a small California village and killed her peacefully.

Vlad I stopped walking when I saw Raven sprint out of the matron's house with her hoodie pulled low over her face. She was running so fast that she stumbled and fell to her knees, scrabbling at the stones and whimpering in frustration. "Raven, what's wrong?" I asked, taking her hand. She yanked her hand away, pulling her hoodie lower, almost as though trying to disappear beneath it. "Mind your business," she snapped, wiping away her tears with a sleeve of her hoodie.

He flicked the cigarette away and mounted his bike, riding off without another word. That night, the unease crystallized into danger. Raven was heading back from a supply run when she caught the scent so sharp, metallic and wrong. Her wolf bristled instantly. Hunters. She froze in the alley behind the warehouse, scanning the shadows. Too quiet, too still. Then the first bolt sang through the air. Raven ducked instinctively, the silver-tipped arrow embedding in the wall where her head had been a heartbeat before. Her wolf roared inside her, surging to the surface.

Raven said, looking at her phone and didn't even wait for her sister's reply before she ran off. "Ugh! What's wrong with her these days? Now I have to stand here and wait," Sasha said. ~ Raven walked into the school's library. A tall silhouette stood holding a book in his hand. His muscles bulged through his school shirt and he was quite over six feet. Raven smiled at him even though he didn't see her and called: "My monkey man!" she almost screamed, and he turned around with a surprised look on his face. She ran towards him—at first it was a sprint, then it turned to a mad dash. Then she leapt into his arms and he caught her mid-air.

Sweet girl, with her goddamn eyes. Little Raven. Chips of polished onyx that seemed to soak up the scant light around us and hold onto it and her hair. Black as midnight, thick, spilling around her face, hair no other woman I’d ever met possessed, not with that depth of color, that impossible richness and I’ve longed it up from when we were little and that was why the name always did sting in my head. Her presence had been a disruption from the moment she walked into my life, a wrench thrown into the gears of the carefully controlled chaos I lived in.

Along his forearms, the veins did not just tighten, they rose and bulged like ropes. Then came the hands. The fingers began to lengthen and thicken with horrific speed, the knuckles popping with an unnerving sound. From the tips, where soft flesh should be, five obsidian-black, razor-sharp claws slowly pushed through the skin. “So unfortunate!” Raven's voice echoes through the darkness. The second he stands behind me, I can feel his presence. I quickly rise to my feet and face him, guarding Jay behind me. He's wearing a hoodie, his eyes seem to be a gift from the devil.

I took a deep breath, slowly letting out as I prepared to revisit my worst nightmare. “So you know I transferred into Ravenwood at the start of our junior year. And well, when it comes to new girls at school, you are either invisible, taunted mercilessly, or become a target of some guy or guys.” I frowned. “Which God help me if the Frost boys even think to treat Riko the way I got treated… their lawyer dad won’t have much of a case. I watch enough CSI and How To Get Away With Murder to actually get away with it. Can’t prove murder without bodies.” I narrowed my eyes.
