Luna's voice rose to a shout, her aura flaring. It was a mere flicker of her former power, but it was enough to send the omegas scrambling for the door. Marissa shot her one last venomous look before they vanished, their footsteps hurrying down the hall. The moment they were gone, Luna's legs gave out. She collapsed on the vanity stool, her hands shaking violently. The brief surge of power had cost her dearly and nausea returned with vengeance. She barely made it to the toilet before she was retching, her body trying to expel the poison in her veins.

Chapter 11: Chase Rhys’s P.O.V "That went well," Zyane sighed, rubbing his temples. "Yes it did," I agreed, amused. But that amusement was soon wiped off my face as soon as I looked back at the spot Mikalya had occupied not long ago. "Holy Shit!" "As ready as I'll ever be," Zoe replied. They walked over to where Cressida was standing, stopping a couple of yards away. "How did you do that? Why is my spell not working on you?" Cressida asked angrily. "Let's just say you can't hurt us anymore. It's time for you to die," Ryder said as Zoe made them disappear. They leaped over Cressida and kicked her in the face as they went, knocking her to the ground. She yelled as she stood back up.

A hurricane of glass shards and freezing black energy swept toward the dais. "We are out of time!" Ashren bellowed over the deafening roar of the explosions. "Charge is set!" Jinx screamed, scrambling up from the floor. She grabbed Kaelen by his ruined uniform, dragging the injured Prince backward. "Brace for the drop!" Jinx slammed her thumb onto the detonator. The explosion beneath our feet was deafening but perfectly directed. The shaped charge blew the massive iron grate completely out of its mounting, shattering the concrete floor beneath the dais.

I only had a core. Then the second rod fell. Then the third. The 'Iron Rain' hammered down in a merciless, rhythmic drumbeat from the upper atmosphere. The GBCA bypassed explosives entirely, relying on raw gravity. They dropped pillars of dense metal to bludgeon the city into dust. Every strike sent a tectonic shockwave through my frame, driving me an inch deeper into the obsidian floor.

"JumpStart must have dropped his batons," I say, turning back to see Metal-Man walking with JumpStart in his hand. "Hold on!" I run and pick up the stun batons before running to where JumpStart is. It's too late though. While I was running to get the stun batons, Metal-Man made his way to some wooden supports. He pulls back his hand and punches JumpStart right through the wooden supports. As JumpStart flies through and breaks the wooden supports, the roof they're holding collapses and falls right into JumpStart.

I woke with a start to being rocked violently and the sound of gunfire. Springing up I saw a hoard of Nephilim above us, surrounding us. I had never seen so many at once. Liam and Jason were already up, Liam's katana currently removing a head from the body of one Nephilim, Jason's guns blazing, hitting their mark each time. Todd was standing on top of the truck, his sickles already slick with blood; Devon behind him picking off the ones further out one by one. Fucking hell, no wonder I had a bad feeling.
