“I could not talk to you during the festival, could I? You did not speak my language yet, because you didn’t have a wolf to translate the words, that’s why you could not hear us. I am the Mother of the Wolves, after all.” Confused, I sit back but then I frown. “But I still don’t have a wolf. How come I can understand you now?” The Moon Goddess laughs. “Who do you think this is?” She pats the black wolf’s head fondly, earning an affectionate kiss from the giant black beast. My jaw drops. “You’re giving me a wolf!?”

The blue moon is illuminating the night, giving a beautiful scene in every corner of the beautiful forest. The wind blows in my face. I can feel the coldness that enveloping me. I can see a wolf looking herself in the river, waiting for someone. She's beautiful, white as light. Her fur is glowing like the blue moon in the sky. She howls to the moon and the moon become so bright as if the Moon Goddess herself is watching the wolf.

" The trail led me to a clearing in the woods where I saw Amara sitting alone looking up. Her eyes were wide and she seemed to be mesmerized by something that was happening above... on the moon! I slowly approached her, not wanting to scare her, and then I saw what she was looking at: a huge gray wolf running across the surface of the Moon. I was a wolf myself now, but I had never seen anything like it... Amara looked at me again then and our eyes met. Suddenly I understood what they were doing: they were converting! She replied, smiling a little at his compliment; the ocean’s waves had never spoken to her before, only softly sang as she passed, “And what are you, new one?” “I am Wolf.” He replied, puffing up his chest. “Welcome, Wolf.” The Moon replied, “I am glad to meet you, but I must continue my journey before Sun comes and the world awakens.” “Will you return?” The Wolf asked, sadness in his voice. “Yes, my friend, I will pass by again tomorrow.” The Moon smiled as she continued her journey. And every night, the Wolf waited until she rose in the sky, then he followed her on her journey until she sank back into her palace on the horizon.

Back then, the council hadn't been formed and it was the first time anyone had ever seen the Gifted Wolf. "Legend says that they were the first pack ever created under the moon hence the name, Wolf Moon or Chaste Moon," I shrugged, leaving out the part about my ancestors. That would have probably bored her to death. "Not all legends are true," she sashayed her way to the freezer, pulling out a tub of choc mint ice cream and two spoons from the drawer. It was like she already made this her home.

Letting out a long breath Danica removed her hold before plopping down on the ground beside the wolf. 'Come, get up.' Danica ordered the wolf as she sat catching her breath. 'That light....' The rogue began sitting up on all fours and narrowing its red gaze on Danica. 'Only one wolf has that light.' 'Only one?' Danica asked confused. 'What are you going on about?' 'The moon wolf.' The rogue explained. 'She is the mother of all wolves, but why would she be residing within you?' Danica stared at the black wolf as if it had grown a second head, she couldn't quite get what it was going on about. What in the world was the moon wolf and why did that even have anything to do with her?

Melody said, “whenever wolves give in to cruelty. To greed. To bloodlust for power instead of protection.” Baylee swallowed. “Like… Ironclaw.” Melody didn’t correct her. “So,” she continued softly, “when the Veil weakens, the Moon answers. She doesn’t send armies. She doesn’t rewrite the world. She creates one wolf.” Baylee whispered, “A Moon-Touched.” “Yes,” Jessica said. “One wolf in each age. Born of instinct and light. One who can burn corruption out of others. One who can mend what was torn.” Baylee tried to breathe around the tightness in her throat. “So I’m supposed to… fix everything?”

From this angle, I notice his head is tilted back, his gaze locked on the full moon. I’ve never really been captivated by the moon like most wolves tend to be, they would spend hours just looking at the moon, chasing it, howling at the moon, I once read a poem, La Luna, about the moon, the wolf who had written it said he feels the goddess whenever he stares at the full moon. Maybe because I haven’t really spent much time in my wolf skin. But right now, though, as I look at him I wonder how it feels like, to be utterly captivated by the moon. I wonder what he’s thinking of at this very moment. Is he happy? Sad? Content?

Why did I see his wolf in my dreams? For the days that passed, I wracked my brain for the answers, yet there remained nothing. There was no book I could think of, nor words I had heard that could explain it. But the most confusing thing for me was his actions. Ever since he heard of the full moon, he withdrew. Wolves were in no way afraid of the moon. They rejoiced in it, enjoying the blessing of running amongst their pack. It was the Moon Goddess which gave their power, guided them.

“If we want to be residents, we have to play the part. Our packs can live for generations in a place if they follow human rules.” He nodded. “Where did the moon theory come from?” I laughed. “Wolves have a connection to the moon, but it’s not what you think. It’s more of a connection to hunting under the moon rather than a pull to it as the lore would have you believe.” “But you said something about a Moon Goddess.”
