Chapter 25: In my Era of working hard

Diana’s pov

Months have just passed, and my life has become a series of long shifts, grueling hours, and constant pressure to survive. But I did it. Every day, I pushed through the exhaustion, pain, and loneliness. Every dollar I earned was one more step closer to rebuilding the life that had been shattered.

I have gotten a few customers in the past months……people from around the town getting familiar with my baking business or My Baking Business slowly becoming something real. I don’t charge much, just a little money for now, but it was enough to buy food and save a little for my Big dream.

I also added frying of snacks like chi-chim, Buns, and peanuts to the table I set up outside. Some people bought, some just greeted and walked past, but at least, my face was becoming familiar in the area. And I stayed busy. That was the plan…..to stay busy and far from pain.

I still thought of Akin, Xander, and the office. I keep thinking about with is goi

Chapter 71 – Love Triangle Xander’s POVFinally, the morning we have been waiting for is here, and the weather has changed. My alarm rang at exactly 4:30 a.m.I didn’t wait for it to ring twice.I got out of bed, washed my face, and dressed silently. My bag was already packed. Akin had already come to knock on my door to see if I was awake. She said we would believe by 5:00 a.m. and that we needed to move fast…before the city got too busy, and before we lost the trail again.By 4:55, I was standing outside, waiting in the cold, gray morning. The rain had stopped, but the streets were still wet. The sky was just beginning to turn from black to deep blue.Akin pulled up on time with the car. He didn’t say much. He just nodded at me. I nodded back. With our private investigator We weren’t going to guess anymore. We weren’t going to wait. We had a location to follow…a solid one this time. The private investigator had scanned the road and everything was clear. And we were going to find

  • A Pulse And Betrayal    Chapter 70 : the dinner preparation

Chapter 70 : the dinner preparation Diana’s POVThe soft sound of rain tapping on the rooftop woke me up.It wasn’t loud anymore…just a gentle patter, like fingers drumming lightly on glass. The storm had passed, and the silence it left behind felt strange. Still, I didn’t move right away. I just laid there, eyes open, staring at the wooden ceiling.Star was curled up beside me, breathing slowly. Peacefully.I turned to face him. His hair was messy from sleep, his tiny hands tucked under his chin. I smiled faintly and reached to pull the blanket over his shoulders. The bakery was closed The flood from yesterday had made the streets too muddy, too slippery. I had already texted our delivery customers that their orders would be delayed. Some were upset. Some were kind. But most understood.I was thankful. I needed this day off.Especially now.I turned back toward the bed frame wardrobe and picked up my phone. I already knew the message was there, but I opened it again anyway.Chris:T

  • A Pulse And Betrayal    Chapter 69: When the Rain Slows Down

Chapter 69: When the Rain Slows DownXander’s POVThe rain had been roaring for hours, but finally… around midnight, it started to ease.I stood by the hotel room window, staring out at the dark sky. The storm clouds had begun to drift, letting a few stars peek through. Raindrops still tapped lightly against the glass, but the pounding had softened. The worst of it was over. But I couldn’t sleep.I leaned my forehead against the window and sighed. My chest was tight. My thoughts were stuck on one thing.Diana.What would she look like when I saw her again? Would her hair still be that soft brown shade, falling just over her eyes when she laughed? Would her smile still light up the space around her? Or had life made her harder, colder?I wondered how she’d react to seeing me.Would she yell? Cry? Walk away without a word?Or would she just stare at me in silence?I didn’t know. But I needed to find out.The rain had ruined our plans today, but tomorrow morning might give me another cha

  • A Pulse And Betrayal    Chapter 68: The Stormy Morning

Chapter 68: The Stormy MorningXander pov Heavy rain poured all day and didn’t stop at all. The roads were a mess…flooded, slippery, and blocked in many places. It was almost impossible to drive.I sat in the front seat of the SUV, looking out through the rain-covered windshield. Akin was behind the wheel, moving slowly through the rising water.“These roads are bad,” Akin said quietly. “We might not make it through.”I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. “We have to try. We can’t turn back now.”From the backseat, the investigator checked his phone and frowned. “We can’t take the main road anymore. It’s fully flooded. I’ll try to find another route.”The rain hit the car like drumbeats. The windshield wipers worked as fast as possible, but it was still hard to see anything. Cars were stuck along the roadside, and water reached up to their doors.Akin slowed down even more. “We might need to pull over if it gets worse.” Let me book a nearby hotel, let's say, and wait for the rain

  • A Pulse And Betrayal    Chapter 67: Shadows on the Road

Chapter 67: Shadows on the RoadXander’s POVI stared at the row of glowing city lights below his corner office, the hum of late-afternoon traffic drifting up to my window. My phone lay face-down on the desk; the message from Akin still unread. Every second felt like an hour.I tapped my desk bell twice. When my manager, poked his head around the door, he forced a calm smile.I need you to postpone all my meetings for the next three days. Tell them I’m traveling on urgent personal business.”His eyebrows rose, but he didn’t question me . He had learned better than to pry. “Yes, sir. Should I notify marketing and legal as well?”“Everyone,” I said. He leaned forward, voice soft but firm: “And please make sure no one knows why. Just say it’s private. I’ll check in when I return.”“Understood,” he replied. He scribbled on her notepad and slipped away, closed the door .I exhaled, then reached for my phone. The message from Akin read:“All set. • A Pulse And Betrayal    Chapter 66: the elimination

Chapter 66: the elimination Diana’s POVI closed the kitchen door behind me, leaning against it like it was the only thing holding me up. My hands were shaking. My chest felt too tight.Chris.He stood in my shop just moments ago, speaking words I never thought I’d hear. Words I had dreamed of… feared… and waited for.“I disappeared because I was taken…”The sentence kept playing in my head, like a song stuck on repeat. I didn’t even know what to believe. Was it true? Was everything he said real? The fear in his voice… the way his hands trembled slightly when he spoke… it didn’t seem like a lie. But it was too much to take in all at once.Kidnapped?By who?And why?Who would do something like that to him? And more importantly, why would they tell him to stay away from me?That part had my stomach turning in knots. Why me?What did I ever do that someone would want to keep us apart?I walked over to the sink and splashed cold water on my face, trying to steady my breath. Star sat on
