Ayla walked into the King’s room with quiet confidence. She looked beautiful and calm, her steps light, yet steady. Her golden hair was neatly braided and wrapped in a bun. She wore her healer robes, and her face glowed softly under the morning sun shining through the window.
“Good morning, my King,” she said gently, bowing her head with respect. “I’m sorry I didn’t come earlier. From today forward, I will be the one taking care of your health. I hope that’s alright with you?”
The chamber became silent.
The King sat up in his bed, his back resting against the headboard. He looked at her with his calm grey eyes but said nothing. Ayla took his silence as a sign of agreement.
She turned her attention to the three royal healers who stood near the King’s bed.
“I am truly sorry,” she said to them respectfully, bowing slightly. “You’ve all done well. But from now on, I’ll be the one looking after him. Please, give us a moment.”
The healers nodded in silence and stepped back.
