Dante’s POV
“You’re late,” I said as Vespara entered the meeting room.
Currently, she was the star of the pack and deservedly so. We had secured one of the biggest victories in recent history because of her strategy. Our treasury was overflowing. Allies were knocking on our doors.
This woman was a storm you wanted on your side. And at no cost, I would ever want to lose her. She was loyal to me to the bone. She did not even accept a reward for what she did for the pack. This attitude of hers put me in trouble many times. Vespara lives and dies for the pack!
She gave me a cheeky smile as she dropped into the seat next to mine. But I noticed the difference right away as her shoulders sagged a little, her eyes were duller, and her complexion a shade paler.
“A friend came over and cooked my lazy ass a meal,” she said, stretching slightly. “Took longer than I expected.”
“What kind of friend cooks you a meal?” Rome chimed in, striding in like he owned the place. “I would like one of those. T
