The periodic melody of birdsong outside and Alpha Salem’s footsteps echoing every half an hour as he checked on me were the only things I could truly focus on. My arms had gone numb, feeling as if they’d been severed. The Silver had seized control of my senses, and Malessia struggled to resurface, even though I felt her trying to talk to me.
