ELARA'S POV
The next morning, I was led through the maze-like corridors of the Palace. The room assigned to me was small, but way better than what I had expected.
Honestly a cage like room was what I pictured in my head.
But instead, I got a simple furnished room, with a small chest of drawers, and two narrow windows.
Cute.
"Welcome," A warm voice broke through my unease.
"Hi, I'm Martha," A petite young girl around my age extended an arm towards me, she stood in the doorway, wearing a pink plaid long skirt with an oversized shirt. "Your roommate." She added.
"Oh," I mumbled, "Pardon me," I shook her hand, returning her wide smile with a small one, "Thank you for welcoming me."
Her eyes crinkled at the corners, "Don't mind the place by the way, it's not much, but it definitely sure feels like home.... Or sorta."
I giggled softly, "Or better perhaps."
"Yeah!" She responded, a genuine smile on her lips. "Shall I show you around? Or would you like to freshen up first?"
"I think I'll freshen up first,"
"Okay then," she clapped her hands together, "it seems like you don't have anything, I'll spare you some of mine but....." She trailed off as her eyes ran up and down my body, "I think your bust may be way bigger than mine, so the shirts may be a little tight. Can you manage?"
A blush crept up my cheeks, I felt slightly embarrassed but also extremely grateful. "Sure, thank you so much."
"Don't mention."
Two hours later, after taking a very long shower, I changed into Martha's clothes, surprisingly they fitted me....well not so perfectly, but at least it's better than nothing. Martha also offered me some food, before taking me on a tour in the palace.
She started with the servant quarters, the kitchen, the laundry rooms. "So this is where our work ends, the other servants will take care of it, avoid bumping into them, they can be cranky,"
"Of course, thank you."
"Well then," she rubbed her hands together, gesturing to the grand hallway, "Let me show you further more of the Palace, we have only begun."
"I-" I blinked rapidly at her, "What do you mean just started? We have been walking for a long time...."
She chuckled softly, "Hun, this is a Palace. Not just any building."
As we navigated further, we rounded a corner and accidentally bumped into Ronan.
"Alpha!" Martha instantly grew pale, bowing her head.
I hesitated, my mind racing before forcing myself to mimic her action.
Ronan's gaze felt like a physical weight, like an unbearable pressure. I dared to look up, his eyes were darker and intense, it was extremely uncomfortable.
A sigh of relief escaped my lips as I heard his footsteps, he walked away alongside his beta trailing behind him. The air immediately felt lighter.
"Shit-" Martha groaned, "let's be careful next time."
I nodded."Noted."

Unable to sit still in the room doing nothing, I joined Martha in the laundry room. At first she protested, insisting that I rest and start fully tomorrow. But honestly, staying put was exhausting.
As I assisted Martha in the laundry room, I could feel the eyes of the other maids on me. Their faces etched with suspicion and well..the usual expression I was used to.
Disgust.
"Isn't that the trespasser?" One murmured under her breath, she leaned closer to her friend, "I wonder why hasn't she been killed yet,"
I pretended not to pay attention, but from time to time I used my side eye to look at them.
"I bet she's a spy," another hissed, "Sent to gather information about us. You just can't trust outsiders randomly,"
"Yeah right," the first girl snorted, "Orphan indeed. Just a sob story to play on the Alpha's sympathies. A decoy, I tell you."
"Sooner or later she will be ratted out. The Alpha never fails in teaching those who wronged him an unforgettable lesson."
Listening to their words made me sick to the guts, my hands slipped, hereby causing the bucket in my hand to fall to the floor, breaking into two. I looked down at the mess I had just made.
Shaking my head, I bent down to pick up the broken pieces of the bucket. I shouldn't be paying any attention to them.
It's not like it was the first time people had ever talked about me this way my own best friend did worse...
I felt someone nudge my arm, looking up, I saw Martha. A deep frown set on her lips. She bent down and collected the pieces from my hand. "Don't listen to them," she whispered. "Those girls gossip about anything and everything."
I shrugged, trying to appear indifferent, but unfortunately I couldn't really hide the fact that their words stung. It stung deep, I may have ran away from it, but I could never escape the wrath of people.
I stood up and picked up another bucket, tossing the clean clothes inside, and I turned to Martha. "I'll go hang these now."
She offered a reassuring smile "Okay."
I went outside to the courtyard, as I spread the damp clothes, my gaze drifted and I saw him.
Ronan.
He stood a few feet away, his back at me. His attention was fixed on something beyond my line of sight. Just as I turned to look away, the familiar ache stirred deep within me.
This mate bond had to be wrong, it just had to.
Kael had used me, and Ronan, well... He obviously couldn't care less.
How could I be mated to two men that didn't care about me? Nothing this bond had caused me but pain.
I flinched the moment he turned around, his eyes locked onto mine for a brief second. I started to walk away, desperate to put a distance between us.
"Wait." The command in his voice was absolute, so filled with authority that my feet stayed rooted to the spot.
I could feel him stepping closer, his presence radiated a whole lot of power and an intimidating aura. When he stopped right in front of me, his gaze was on me directly.
I felt so small, compared to his towering figure.
"Whatever you think this is," he said, moving closer, his voice clipped and dismissive. "Don't pay any attention to it. I'm not interested."

ELARA POVPanic clawed at my throat. I practically sprinted out of my room to Kael's office, the neatly folded letter clutched in my hand like a lifeline, as I entered his office, it was empty. I headed to his chambers, hoping he'd be there, but he wasn't. As I stood in the hallway, lost and confused on what to do, Clara approached."Miss Elara?" She asked as she took a few steps closer to me, her brows etched in confusion. "Are you alright? You look disturbed...""Where's Kael?" I demanded, ignoring her questions and concerns. My impatience was evident in my tone. The second time. The second time I'm getting a blank letter. The pattern was unsettling, the lack of any threat even more so. It was unnerving."The Lycan? I think I saw him outside..." Her words trailed, before she could finish, I was already running towards the exit of the Palace, running past the surprised onlookers. As soon as I stepped out. There he was, Kael, in the courtyard with his beta standing beside him.I ran t
ELARA'S POVI stared at him, utterly stunned. He broke up with her? Just like that?"Why?" The word slipped out before I could stop it. "Why did you do that?"Kael's eyes darkened, his voice low and steady. "Because she was never my choice. I said I was going to make things right. I intend on doing so now, and by starting, I needed to get rid of Seraphina."I blinked, trying to wrap my head around it. "What does that even mean?"He ran a hand through his thick hair, then fixed his eyes on me with a look so serious it made my heart pound. "You know what I mean, Elara. Stop acting as if you don't. Because deep down, I know you understand exactly what I'm trying to say."I opened my mouth, but he cut me off before I could even say a word."Now might not be the prefect time," he said, vis voice rough around the edges. "But Elara, please let me speak. I have to do this, or else I'd keep living with regrets."I swallowed hard and looked away. I knew exactly what he was trying to do, and tha
ELARA'S POVI stared at him, unsure of what to say. Dr. Alen was the last person I wanted to encounter. Memories flooded back, bitter, painful memories of how he'd draw my blood until I nearly passed out, using me like some tool to heal others. A freak, they all called me. And he took the delight in making me suffer further.I swallowed hard as I nodded. "Hello, Dr. Alen. It's been a while.""Indeed, it has," his voice was calm, but there was something cold beneath it. "What brings you to the infirmary?""I came to treat a little boy. He had a scratch."He raised a brow, scanning the whole area. The other healers just ignored us both and continued with whatever they were doing. "What boy?" He asked, his eyes sharp as he stared at me."He just ran off, barely a minute before you entered.""Oh. Figures. I thought you came here yourself." He smirked slightly.Yeah as if. I mentally scoffed to myself. Forcing a smile, I replied. "I have no business here, why would I come?""I don't know,"
ELARA'S POVMy mind raced. "I...I don't know," I mumbled. "I just found it on my table in my room earlier. I thought it might be a misplaced letter or so..."His gaze narrowed. "Who sent it, Elara?"I shook my head. "I have no idea. Clara didn't say anything about a letter, so I'm just as confused as you are. She's the only one who enters my room."He let out a sigh, a weary sound that tugged at my heartstrings. Without a word, he turned and walked towards his desk, the polished wood gleaming under the soft light. Without hesitation, he unfolded the letter.I watched him, my heart pounding in my chest. What if it was a threat? Or worse? Dreadful news? The air seemed to thicken as he stared at the paper, his face slowly draining of color. My breath hitched in my throat as I watched him. "Kael? What is it? What's wrong?"He didn't answer, his gaze still frozen on the letter. I couldn't stand the suspense any longer. I pushed myself forward, stepping around the desk to stand beside him.
ELARA'S POVI sat on the edge of my bed, the worn quilt scratching against my skin. The silence in the room was heavy, broken only by the rhythmic tap of my fingers against the bed frame. I chewed on my bottom lip, a nervous habit I'd never quite managed to shake.Suddenly my eyes landed on a crisp white envelope that laid on the table beside my bed. Hadn't I had noticed this before? How come I'm just seeing this? My heart skipped a beat. I wasn't supposed to receive any letter...not that I was expecting one from anyone. So who could it be from?A shiver of apprehension snakes down my spine. I tried to shrug off the feeling, telling myself it was probably just a misplaced letter. Besides, if it was for me Clara would have notified me of it before she retired for the day.Could someone else had sneaked into my room? I tried to remain positive, but a nagging voice in the back of my mind. It whispered that something more than just an ordinary letter.Hesitantly, I stood up and picked up
ELARA'S POVThe weight of unspoken emotions pressed down on me, a suffocating blanket woven from guilt, fear, a burgeoning affection for Kael, the persistent lingering love for Ronan, and the terrifying secret of my pregnancy. I'd been running ever since I had realized the depth of my feeling for Kael- a frantic, breathless flight from a truth that threatened to shatter the carefully constructed walls I'd built around my heart against Kael.I wanted to hate him, but I couldn't. It wasn't because of the reason why he told me he did what he did. It was because I really liked him, even though I was angry and pained, I still had feelings for him. Although now my feelings for Ronan were stronger than the feelings I had for Kael, I couldn't believe that I loved both men.My stomach suddenly churned. I jolted up from my bed, rubbing my tummy. The morning sickness had now become increasingly difficult to mask. The exhaustion was relentless and even though Kael and Clara tried to support me di
