Nikolas didn’t gain consciousness the rest of the day under the effects of medicines and anesthesia. Bruce came in with Gavin to check up on Nikolas but left after taking updates. Brooklyn stayed with him throughout. In the middle of the night when he opened his dazed eyes complaining of excruciating pain, she summoned the nurse on duty and his pain medication dosage were increased which made him fall asleep instantly.
It was morning and Brooklyn showered and changed quickly as Bruce had promised to arrive early to have a talk with the doctor in charge. The moment she emerged from the washroom, she found Nikolas’s anxious eyes fixed upon her. Excited to see him awake, she rushed towards his bedside.
“How are you feeling now?” she asked anxiously, sitting on his bed, beside him.
