Hailey's POV
Levi's taken a lot longer than necessary, and I'm torn between waiting him out or going to find him myself. Maybe he's trying to figure out what I'd want, though that would've been a lot easier if he'd asked me first. But trying to understand Levi is a lost cause.
Just when I'm making up my mind to go join him in the diner, a shadow falls over me.
Thinking it's Levi, I don't bother to look up as I say, "Took you long enough. I was starting to think you'd gotten kidnapped or something."
"I doubt my followers are crazy enough to do that, but thanks for the concern, sweetheart," a voice that definitely isn't Levi's replies, chuckling.
I should be scared, but the familiarity in the voice pulls my gaze up—and a grin breaks across my face.
"Cole! What a surprise."
I stand, unsure whether to hug him or shake his hand or—what?
I don't know.
Thankfully, he's ahead of me and pulls me into a hug before I turn the greeting into something awkward.
"I've missed you, babe," he sa
