Contract Marriage With My Ex's Boss
"I have a proposal for you," Levi said, as he relaxed into his chair. "One that would be beneficial to the child, and my company."
I leaned forward with raised brows, my interest piqued. "What is it?"
"We have to get married."
Despite the seriousness of the situation, I laughed.
I expected him to say that he had been joking. Rather, he gazed at me with furrowed brows. "Did I say something funny, miss Hailey?"
Hailey's world shattered when she caught her boyfriend cheating with her best friend. Seeking solace, she had a one-night stand with a stranger, unaware that it would lead to something she hadn't bargained for. Pregnancy.
When she tracked down the man she slept with that night, she was stunned to discover he was her ex's boss, Levi King.
Expecting rejection after confronting him, she was surprised by his proposal: a contract marriage.
What starts out as a pretense begins to feel like something real, and the line between love and pretense is blurred. They begin to explore the feelings that come with wanting something real—but lies don't stay hidden forever. And when jealous exes also refuse to accept their new reality, Hailey and Levi must face the challenges that come with it, and fight for a future together. One that isn't bound by a contract.
"Why don't we make him pay?" Levi proposed, a smirk playing on his lips.
I stared at him in shock. Even after I got cheated on, the thought of revenge never crossed my mind.
Only one thought rang in my head at that moment. 'This man must be sick.'

Chapter: Eighty seven "I am genuine." He rolls his eyes. "I'm only agreeing to this because I love her, and I hate the way she's been these last few days.""That's on me," I admit, more to myself than him. "No shit. And I'm trusting you to fix her," he adds. "We had our first argument, and it was all because of you.""I'm sorry. What can I do?""You rich people and acting like throwing money around will instantly fix everything," he mutters, pouring himself another glass. "I wasn't even talking about—"He doesn't let me defend myself. Cutting me short, he says, "Thirty grand."I blink. "What?" He exhales loudly. "I know you're not that dumb, Mr. Hotshot. I wasn't planning to talk to her until she came to me first, asking for forgiveness. But now I've got to swallow my pride and go to her instead, even if she wronged me. Thirty grand makes that a little easier."I stare at him. He stares right back, raising a challenging brow. "You in or not?" I mutter some curses under my breath before responding. "I

Chapter: Eighty sixLevi's POV If you'd asked me three months ago, what I thought about putting in effort to get a woman, I'd have said I thought it was stupid. That no one should have to get themselves worked up over someone who might not want them back. And if you ask me that now, my answer would be the complete opposite. Somehow, in the past four months, my life has taken a complete u-turn. I don't recognize the man I've become. I've found myself catching feelings I once swore would never happen to me. I'd seen how my friends back then became when they'd "fallen in love," and I hated it. I swore to myself that I'd never let that happen to me. And yet here I am, chasing down Matt's address just because Hailey mentioned she'd been staying with him. I'm not saying I'm in love with her— no, not that. But with the way I've been acting these days? It might as well be. After dropping her off Sunday night and seeing how things stood between us, I told myself I was done trying to get her to come back ho

Chapter: Eighty five"I was with Matt," she whispers. I don't miss the use of past tense. "Was? Where's he now?" "He left, I think. We had an argument... I said some things I shouldn't have." Her voice cracks. My frown deepens. "That's still not a reason for him to leave you alone in a place like this. What if—" "Stop acting so worried over me, okay?" She snaps, angrily wiping her eyes. "As you can see, I'm fine. I can take care of myself. I don't need you worrying about me now."That line again. That fucking "I can take care of myself" shit she pulls out every time. Have I ever said she couldn’t? No. I know she's more than capable of doing that, but I don't need a damned reminder every time I try to watch out for her. Like she thinks I'm questioning her strength. I'm not. I count to ten in my head before responding. "Did you drive here?" She shakes her head."How were you planning to get home?""Uber." She shrugs. Seeing her like this, I can't help but feel some anger at Matt. Even if his anger

Chapter: Eighty four I remain at the bar for a few more minutes before admitting that being out has done nothing to help me. If anything, it’s made me realize just how much I miss the nights I spent at home with Hailey. Some were uncomfortable and full of arguments, yes. But most were cozy, and dare I say... domestic. I leave through the club’s backdoor, not in the mood to push through sweaty bodies and suffocating noise. The cool air outside hits me like a breath of relief, and I linger for a while, enjoying the breeze.I'm alone until the door creaks open and someone steps out. It's too dark to take make out any particular features, but I can it's a woman. And she's alone. Not good. It's not safe to be out in these kinds of places alone, especially as a woman, and definitely not in the barely-there dress she's wearing. I don't think she realizes it, but everything about her right now is basically beckoning perverts. She doesn’t even seem to notice me, too focused on looking around for something. Or

Chapter: Eighty three "Sorry I'm late, man," a voice I never thought I'd be more eager to hear, cuts in.Ezra. About fucking time. If he hadn't shown up when he did, I don't know what I'd have done next. Honestly, I'm not even sure why I'd remained seated when I should've left the moment she'd approached me. "I had some things to handle at work and it took longer than I'd planned," Ezra said, waving his dead phone at me. "Would've texted, but this thing's useless now." For a guy who runs a security company, you'd think he'd know better than to let his phone die without backup.Charlotte clicks her teeth behind me. "Can't you see we were talking?" Ezra raises an eyebrow. "And you are?" "I'm—" "Leaving," I cut, my tone final. "She's leaving.""But I wasn’t done talking to you." Her voice takes on a desperate, whiny edge. "I could give you a much better time than she ever would, Levi."At first, I thought it was jealousy. But no, it's deeper than that. The hatred she has for Hailey must run deep it’s ma

Chapter: Eighty twoLevi's POV I've been at the club for almost an hour, waiting for Ezra. We'd agreed—more like I'd forced him to agree, to meet here so I could bore him with the story of my marital issues. But it seems like he's going to be a no-show, which means I have to drink in solitude, again. My mind is flooded with memories of the last time I'd had drinks here alone, which was only two days ago. Though I can't remember everything that happened that night, I'm sure I'd made a big mistake. One which I'm still regretting to this moment. You'd think I'd learned my lesson on drinking in public alone, but no. And I don't think I have to feel bad about anything this time. Because if there's anything Hailey's exit and avoidance has said, it's that we're done. I'd been calling for hours, but she kept avoiding me. I sent texts, which she ignored. I even sent the longest voice note I'd ever had to make in my life, only for it to be ignored also. She simply didn't care.I was counting on the emotions I

Mated by fate
"I brought you here because you're my mate."
"mate?" I ask incredulously.
"yes. And I plan to make sure that you remain here, Tammy. Even if you try to run away from this, I will keep bringing you back every single time."
Tammy is a nurse living a normal life. That changes after an encounter with a mysterious man, as her world begins to turn upsidedown.
Adam Grayson, the next-in-line alpha of the skyline pack has been searching for his mate for eight years. His search comes to an end after a brief meeting with her, but claiming her poses a problem for him, so he begins making plans to get her.
With the time of witch's curse manifestation approaching, Adam uses that to his advantage and gets ignorant his mate, Tammy, to cater for the wolves of his pack.
And with her stay in the pack house, new developments occur, which disrupts her past and threatens her future with Adam.
Will they still come together after terrible secrets unfold? Or would their bond be shattered?
A scream pierces the air, and I whirl around, my attention now on the crowd.
The lady, Amanda, points a trembling finger at me. "A witch! We have a witch among us!"
I shake my head. "What? No!" I cry. "I'm not a witch!"
"Witch! Witch! Witch!" The chants rise from the crowd.
I turn back to Adam. "Adam, tell them I'm not a witch. Adam please!"

Chapter: Fifty nineTammy's POV It's been a week since the full moon - and Adam and I were together. I haven't seen much of him since then. There have been some changes in the pack. Most of the people who fell into the curse-induced sleep have woken up. Only about five people have not woken up - of which Jackson is one. Thinking about it sends a sliver of dread down my spine. Because if he never wakes up, it'll be my fault. Aside from the people waking up, my dreams have become more frequent. And stranger. Other unusual things have been happening too.The day before yesterday, I was shaving my legs and accidentally scraped my skin. I felt the sting and saw the blood. But when I looked again, there was no injury. Not even a scratch. I would have convinced myself into believing I'd imagined it, if not for the other oddities that have been piling up lately. I also had a dream - or maybe a vision - about the handbook. It opened to a page, and I could clearly read what was written. I can't be sure I was

Chapter: Fifty eightAlexander's POV A muffled groan escapes me as I pull at the chains binding my wrists, the cold metal biting into my skin. It's futile. No one has heard me in twenty years - I doubt today will be any different. Footsteps echo through the cave. Then, a familiar sound. "Tch tch tch." My captor clicks his tongue as he steps into the dim light. "What have I told you about making noise, Alex?" I don't respond. How can I, when I've lost my voice? He chuckles, low and cruel. "Oh, that's right. You can't speak."He moves closer, stretching out his hand. The moment his fingers hover near my skin, the searing pain begins. I should be used to it by now, but the agony never dulls. My mouth opens in a silent scream. "You know, I should have grown bored of this by now," he muses, watching me writhe. "But it still pleases me. Why is that, Alexan?" I glare at him, hatred burning in my eyes. It only amuses him. "How pitiful. The mighty Alpha of skyline pack... reduced to this. And yo

Chapter: fifty seven Third person's POV "Arabella!" Freya's voice cut through the stillness of the woods.'Where has she gone now?' her mother thought, pushing into the forest, searching for her daughter. Her eyes darted between the towering trees, searching for her daughter. The girl always wandered off, and Freya always had to go looking for her. A sharp squeal rang out behind her, followed by the sound of laughter. Freya spun around, heart lurching. "Arabella, come back! It’s just a bug; it won’t hurt you!""No, go away! You're gross!" The voice was closer now, high-pitched and teasing.A second later, Arabella came barreling through the trees, her black curls bouncing with each step. She crashed into Freya’s legs, giggling, until she glanced up and saw the stern set of her mother’s jaw. Freya folded her arms. "What have I said about you running off into the woods?"Arabella’s laughter died. She clasped her hands in front of her, eyes cast downward. "Not to go too far."A rustling came from the

Chapter: Fifty sixUnknown person's POV I have been observing the girl Adam brought here - Tammy - for a while now, and none of them even suspect a thing. She isn't just a normal girl, no matter how much she tries to deny it. That night in the meeting, when she first arrived, I sensed something off about her. Something different. Her scent burned hot in my nose, too intense, too unnatural. At first, I thought it was just my heightened senses playing tricks on me. But when I saw her up close again, I knew it wasn’t. Even the people who woke up from the curse-induced sleep testified that they had seen her doing something to them. I can't believe that even when Adam was there to witness it firsthand, he still didn't try to investigate her properly. And when he eventually did, he convinced himself she was a Wanderer. He proves to be a fool at times. I'm incredibly glad that I've gotten somewhat close to them and I was able to get access to the book on Wanderers. And I'm also relieved that he wa

Chapter: Fifty five Tammy's POV I sit up, intrigued by what he has to say. "It happened when I was seven," Adam begins, his voice quieter now. "Around the time the curse started and my mom died. I can't seem to remember the details, but I remember thinking about the ashes on every tree. I decided I liked the color grey that day. I couldn't like the color of the ashes because of the sad memories attached to it... so I picked the color closest to it.""Shouldn't that have been white?" I tease, a soft laugh escaping me. He chuckles. "Grey's probably felt more like me. A dull, heavy nothingness."His words settle between us, and I frown. Something about his story doesn’t sit right with me. "All those things happened at once?" I ask, my brows furrowing. "That's three questions, Tammy," he points out, a ghost of a smile playing on his lips. "And to answer your illegal question - I don't know. My memories from that time are a blur. I only remember what came after.""That seems odd, don't you think?"He ex

Chapter: Fifty four Tammy's POV "What do you mean you can't find the key, Ophelia?" Adam's voice booms, vibrating through the thick, wooden door. He's asked her that, for might be the hundredth time, this morning. I'd woken to the sound of Adam's escalating shouts. Ophelia had so conveniently misplaced the key - my room key! And of course, there's no spare one around, because the keys were in a bundle.I fight to hold in a laugh as Adam's face flushes red, his frustration radiating off him. He's definitely tired of being trapped with me for so long. I don't blame him. After hours of forced proximity and a pretense of casual conversations, due to Ophelia's ingenious plan. We tried our best to make things less tense between us, but that has worn thin. And now, it's either Adam leaves, or we see how long we can ignore the obvious tension lingering between us. "Ophelia!" Adam roars, his fist slamming against the door again. "Find that key right now, or I swear you won't like what happens when I get out
