Yelena froze at the mention of divorce. She widened her eyes and stared at Leonard in disbelief. Her lips trembled as she asked, "What… What did you say?"
Leonard took a deep breath and repeated. "Let's divorce."
Yelena's face instantly turned as white as a sheet.
She stumbled backward and burst into tears. "You… can't do this to me."
Suddenly, she pounced on Leonard and grabbed his sleeve tightly. "Leonard, have you forgotten? Have you forgotten how we lost our baby?"
Leonard's body stiffened for a moment.
"That day…" Yelena sobbed. "If you hadn't insisted on me going to the hospital for a checkup, and if you hadn't made me go alone, our baby wouldn't have…"
Leonard's expression turned into one of misery. He closed his eyes, seemingly reluctant to recall that incident.
