~ TESS ~

My throat tightens when I see the vampire attack the honey-brown wolf from behind. I try to scream a warning, but a gasp comes out instead. Then, all of a sudden, another large dark-blue wolf rushes by. It’s larger than the other wolves in my living room, almost double in size.

The vampire, who had been about to attack the honey-brown wolf, doesn’t make it as the dark-blue wolf snarls and launches for the vampire, knocking it out the battered window. At the sudden crash, the honey-brown wolf bares its teeth and lifts its eyes to glare out the window.

Oh, God. I know those eyes. I’ve gazed into them since I was a child. I’ve never feared them before, but I do now. Lyra. They’re Lyra’s eyes.

The honey-brown wolf is Lyra.

My head swirls, speckles dotting my vision. I blink rapidly, fighting to stay awake. I don’t want to die like this, on the floor, watching my best friend turn into an animal, unable to move or speak. I try to inhale and gasp at the misery the simple a

  • MARKED BY MOONLIGHT    Chapter 86 — Offer Him What He Wants

~ TESS ~ “You don’t understand,” Killan rasps, his voice thick with restraint. The tips of his canines peek out longer than usual, and strands of his dark hair cling to his damp temples, framing those wild, stormy eyes. “I want to give you more. But this… this has to be perfect.” My heart clenches, breaking in a way I hadn’t expected. Why hadn’t I seen it sooner—how deeply I’d hurt him, how often I’ve pushed him away, how many times I made him question whether I truly wanted him? No wonder he’s trembling at the edge of his control. He thinks one wrong move, one misstep, will make me shut down again. And God, I’ve done such a good job of keeping him at arm’s length that he doesn’t even realize he already owns me. I yank my hands down, struggling against his hold until one wrist slips free. Before he can react, I reach up and cradle his cheek. “It is perfect,” I whisper, feeling the heat of his s

  • MARKED BY MOONLIGHT    Chapter 85 — No More Lies

~ KILLAN ~ “You don’t know how many times I’ve wished you’d say that,” I find myself growling as I take another step, my cock nudging Tess's belly. Her skin feels like silk, a perfect cushion for my length. “Will you be mine, Simply Tess? Will you give yourself to me?” “Only if you’ll give yourself to me,” she counters, pulling her head away. It’s a challenge. One I’m ready to accept. “I’ve always been yours. I just didn’t know it then. Wolves wait their entire lives for this. The minute you walked into the shop, you changed me forever. I’ve been trying to tell you that.” “Yes,” she sighs and rests her hands on my shoulders. She runs her fingers over my skin, her gaze fixates on one of the tattoos over my collarbone. Leans against me, she repeats, “My answer is yes. I will give myself to you.” Fuck yes! --- ~ TE

  • MARKED BY MOONLIGHT    Chapter 84 - I’ll Make You Mine

~ KILLAN ~ Elation and triumph rush through me, and electricity begins to pulse beneath my skin as I feel my beast get ready to claim its mate. I push the wolf back, knowing this has to be done properly. Tess has just been emotionally wounded by her father. She needs to be taken in a manner that shows her she's cherished. A manner that helps heal and fill her. I’ll take it slow, introducing her to our mating in a way she’ll accept and dream about for years to come. Skimming my lips across hers, I murmur, “Just so you know, you are stuck with me after this. If you run I’d find you. And you can’t hide from me. I won’t let you.” She nods as I lift her from the chair, rising to my full height. “I’m going to make this so good for you, sweetheart. You’re not going to regret mating with me. I give you my word.” I feel her tremble against me and hear the way her breath catches. Blood thunders in my ears, my cock straining against my jeans. Even though I’m trying to do the right

  • MARKED BY MOONLIGHT    Chapter 83 — Tired of Hiding

~ KILLAN ~ I open the door to let Tess step inside before closing it behind us. A part of me is still burning with fury over Garrett’s treatment of his own daughter. My parents were nothing but supportive. My mother always made time to listen. She comforted me after my first shift. My father handled discipline, sure, but he never raised a hand to us. They showed me that life is hard, but you work for what you want. With what I’ve seen today, Tess had none of that love or stability growing up. That much is clear. I want to know everything about her. When she called me family earlier, it hit something deep. My wolf had heard it too, and the creature had stirred under my skin, thrumming with energy. With a hand at the small of her back, I guide her to the kitchen. Once she’s seated, I pull out the marinated steaks from the fridge and set them on the counter. Then I grab what I need for a salad. She has

  • MARKED BY MOONLIGHT    Chapter 82 — A New Chapter

~ TESS ~ As we walk toward the door, I can’t tell if I should hug Killan now for defending me or just bolt first and do it when we get outside. That’s how badly I want to leave my father's presence. Uncertain, I decide to follow my instinct and wrap my arm around his waist, edging closer to him. He rests his fingers over mine, and I sigh as the simple touch gives me the comfort I need. Although it doesn't seem like it, my father isn’t full-blown drunk yet, but he's almost there. This usually means things can get even worse. Also, he only comes to me like this when he really needs money. If we don’t leave now, I know I’ll have to reveal the fact that I don’t have any extra money to give. Customers have been scarce the last few months, meaning everything I have goes to bills and necessities. Killan’s seen my home, so he knows I’m not rich. But he doesn’t know just how bad things have gotte

  • MARKED BY MOONLIGHT    Chapter 81 – What He’s Done to You

~ TESS ~ I know the exact second Killan picks up my scent. He turns slowly, catching sight of me standing stiff in the hallway. I try to mask the haunted edge in my eyes, but the narrowing of his gaze tells me I’ve failed. He sees too much. Sees the sadness. The misery weighing me down. I curl in on myself, hunching my shoulders like I can disappear into the floorboards. “Father,” I mutter, voice small. I want to crawl under a rock and disappear. My enhanced senses catch the stench immediately—tequila, beer, sweat, and cheap cigarettes. The scent clings to Garrett Monroe like a second skin. His clothes are wrinkled and stained, his hair greasy, his skin grimy. He hasn’t showered in days. Probably been on another binge. This isn’t the first time he’s shown up like this—after days of drinking, hunting me down for food money... or more booze. I keep my eyes on G
