Betrayed, abandoned, and marked by a cruel fate, Xena never imagined that a single night would change her life forever when she is casted out by her family, scorned by her pack for being wolfless, and left with no place to go, she is forced into an arranged marriage with a man she believes to be a nobody. But when she arrives at her new husband's pack, she is horrified to discover that the "nobody" is none other than Kael, the ruthless and cursed Lycan Lord who despises her but little did she know that this cruel fate she found herself in would be her salvation or… her doom.

I lay on my bed, staring at the ceiling, the blanket pulled up to my chin even though the room was warm, I felt cold inside. It had been weeks since my mother died, but the ache hadn’t lessened. If anything, it had gotten worse. Since her death, my world has turned into a nightmare. My stepfather, once pretending to be kind, showed his true face and my stepsister Chloe always sneered at me and mocking me in every opportunity they got. They made it very clear, I wasn’t wanted. To him, I was a stain on his perfect life. He said I tarnished his image, an image he never knew was "dirty" until my mother was gone. The only thing keeping me from breaking completely was the thought of my wedding in three days. My fiancé... the one person who saw more in me than the blood in my veins. It was a small ceremony, barely a celebration, his parents insisted on keeping it that way for reasons best known to them and since my mother saw the love their son had for me, she didn't oppose the idea. As I sank deeper into my grief, I heard the front door open. I knew at once who it was. It was my step father. I had been ignoring him for days. I prayed he would just pass by my room and leave me alone. Then I heard another voice. It was a woman. They were laughing, giggling, their heavy footsteps moving through the living room. I heard something crash to the floor and break, followed by more laughter. "You're the only real woman this house has ever seen," he said loudly, his voice like poison. "Not like that dead whore," the woman answered, her words dripping with scorn. I sat up in bed, my heart pounding. My fists clenched tightly, gripping the sheets tightly. It was one thing to mock me but it was a completely different situation when it comes to my mother. "Her daughter’s no better," he added, his voice thick with disgust. I couldn't take it anymore, I threw off the blanket and stormed out of the room. I found them sprawled on the sofa, laughing as if the world was theirs. The woman was draped over him, her lipstick smeared across his mouth, her heels digging into the couch cushions. “What the hell do you think you are doing?” I snapped, as soon as I got down the stairs. They both turned to look at me like I was an annoying bug. "Who I am doesn’t concern you," the woman said with a cruel smile. "But since you asked... I'm your stepmom,” she paused, exchanging glances with my stepfather. Her words hit me harder than any slap. "You..." I struggled to find my voice. "You dare to bring a stranger into this house? It has just been three weeks since my mother died,” I paused, tears choking my words. “How dare you?” "Watch your mouth," my stepfather growled. “And who said she is a stranger,” he turned to her, holding her hand in a romantic way. “She is the love of my life, the only one I have truly loved.” I froze. It was like watching your world come crashing down before your eyes. “What?” I muttered, my mind filled with different thoughts. “How could you do this to my mother?” I snapped. “She gave you a name, she gave you a house…she…” I paused, swallowing hard, unable to believe what was happening. “How could you do this to her?” “Please, don't be too dramatic, I gave your mother attention in return, do you know that so many men were scared of approaching your mother because of her status,” he stood up, pointing to his chest. “I became a Father to someone's else's child, to an Impure wolf, do you have any idea what that did to me?” I scoffed, shaking my head in disbelief. “You were the one who approached my mother,” I eyed. “Hey, you should be grateful I kept your secret,” he eyed, his voice filled with pride. “Do you still remember what they did to the last impure wolf?” I swallowed hard. Whatever confidence that was left in me, came crumbling down. The last impure wolf was killed brutally. She was torn into pieces during a gathering under the full moon. “Are you seriously threatening me?” I said, my voice low as tears flowed down freely. “You should be grateful I'm still keeping you here, so I suggest you don't provoke me,” he eyed, wrapping his hand around the woman's neck. I opened my mouth to throw back another insult, but froze, seeing what was around her neck. My mother’s silver chain, the one she wore every day, now dangling proudly around this woman’s throat like a trophy. My patience snapped and without thinking, I lunged forward and yanked the chain from her neck. "How dare you!" I screamed. The woman staggered back, clutching her neck in shock. My stepfather’s face twisted in anger. Before I could react, his hand struck me hard across the face. I stumbled, tasting blood. "You disgusting little mistake!" he roared. I tried to stand, but he hit me again, harder this time. I crashed into the wall, my head spinning. "You think you can disrespect my woman?!" he shouted, spitting on my face. “You worthless piece of shit, don't make me call the sentinels on you,” he spat, yanking the chain away from me and pushed me to the floor. The woman smiled, placing the chain in her purse before following my step father upstairs. I sat on the floor, crying for hours. I couldn't take it anymore. I clutched my bleeding head, thinking of what to do before I bled to death. The only person I could think of was my fiance. I rushed to the drawer in the kitchen and sprayed the werewolves scent on myself, it was a potion that hid my impure scent. Without it, I wouldn't have survived at all. I placed the bottle in my pocket and ran into the night, heading for the only place and person that could comfort me. When I got to his house, I knocked hard but there was no response but the lights were on. Desperately, I pushed the door opened and walked in. The first thing that caught my eyes was the purse lying on the table. I flinched as a loud bang was heard from upstairs. “Mark,” I called, running upstairs, immediately I got to his room, I flung the door open and walked in. Immediately my soul felt my body, my jaw dropped open in shock. Mark was in bed with another woman, they were still fucking like I wasn't standing right there. Slowly the lady turned to me, a small smirk appearing on her lips. It was Chloe, my step sister.Xena’s POV. I stared at the pendant in my hand like it was some ghost from the past. My fingers trembled as I traced the small engraving at the back. This wasn't just any type of pendant. My mother had made me specially for both of us, I could still remember that Chloe was so pissed that she broke hers. Chloe insisted that she was not going to wear the same thing with an impure wolf, so she broke hers and grinded it to shreds then threw the dust on me, that was how it became just me and my mother. So how the hell did this piece get here? I looked up at Kael, who picked up his plates. My mouth opened but no words came out, I was too scared to talk. “But… how?” I whispered again, still looking at it.Kael sat back down, leaning back on his chair. “That was what I was hoping to find out?” “Where did you get this?” My voice cracked as I looked up at him. “Kael, this pendant was made specially for me and my mother, there is none like this except ours.”“Then I guess it is a popular
Xena’s POVI couldn't do it, I just couldn't go through with it. This wasn’t right. I can't just leave like that and besides, Jared might be sweet and all but he doesn't really have the means to protect me and my baby and most importantly, I don't know him too well. I pulled my hand away and shook my head slowly.“Xena?” he asked, confused.“I’m sorry,” I whispered. “I... I can’t go.”“Why?” His voice cracked. “You said you wanted to leave.”“I thought I did,” I mumbled. “But I don’t know anymore. I just... I need to go back.”He stared at me like I had betrayed him. Maybe I had.Without another word, I turned and walked away. I didn't want to but it was the best choice. I had no option. The guards led me to the car and we drove home. By the time I got back to the house, my feet hurt and my head felt like it was full of bricks. The moment I walked in, I froze, my nose flaring up. Food. Perfect timing. I was thinking I was going to die out of hunger. I followed the scent into the
Kael’s POVThe loud crack of bullets was all I could hear. Bang. Bang. Bang. My hands were tight on the trigger, my shoulders stiff, and above all my skin was covered in sweat. And My shirt? Who knows where that ended up, perhaps somewhere in the dirt probably.I aimed at the dummy in front of me but didn't pull the trigger. My mind went back to Xena. I still can't believe she slapped me. Who does she think she is? And who the hell does Jared think he is? He has no right to teach my doll face anything, I bought her, I should be the one to break her and make her— it was my right not his. I shot the dummy in front of me that was already shredded but I kept shooting the same place over and over again until I was satisfied. “Don't you ever run out of bullets?” Viktor asked, walking closer. I glanced over at him, picking you another gun. “I ain't a billionaire if I can't afford some bullets,” I replied simply, loading another gun. “You always shoot things that can’t shoot back?” “W
Xena’s POVThe past hours have been hell, I couldn't concentrate on a damn thing no matter what I tried. My mind kept going back to Viktor’s words, Kael’s madness in the backyard. I was starting to feel sympathy for the devil. What am I doing?” I asked myself several times but no answer came to me. I was seriously confused. I didn't want to feel this way but here I was feeling pity on Kael. But if Kael was impotent, what about the child they said he killed? Wasn't that his child?“Fuck,” I cussed slamming my hand on my forehead. The more I keep asking myself questions, the more I end up in a loop hole. I needed to breathe. And there is one place in the world where I could go and do that— a bookstore. “I want to go out,” I told one of the guards who was passing by. He came at the right time. He blinked like I’d just told him I wanted to climb Mount Olympus.“Where?” he asked.“The bookstore.”“I don't know,” he muttered, checking his wrist watch. I raised a brow, folding my hand
Xena’s POVI was curled up in bed, knees pulled to my chest, my cheeks soaked with tears that wouldn’t stop no matter how hard I tried. My head was pounding, my throat raw from crying. Everything Kael said kept playing in my mind like a broken record. His words didn’t just hurt—they crushed something deep inside me that I didn’t even know could still break. The door creaked open and I didn’t even bother to look. I thought it was one of the maids. Maybe they came to bring food I knew I wouldn't eat and I knew they knew that too. “Xena,” Viktor called. My eyes widened in shock and I sat up immediately. What the hell was Viktor doin here?“Can we talk?” he asked. I wiped my face with the back of my hand and turned my head slowly. He was leaning against the doorframe, looking nothing like the cocky, sarcastic asshole I usually saw. He and Kael were definitely birds of the same feathers and should consider dating. I sniffed and sat up. “If you’re here to say Kael sent you to threaten
Xena’s POV“Kael?” I whispered, my whole body going cold.He walked closer to me, his arms folded, jaw locked tight like stone, his eyes burning with rage. I froze on the spot unsure of what to do next. “How did Kael find me? Was he spying on me? Was this a coincidence?” All these questions kept playing in my mind but it was obvious I wasn't going to get an answer for any of them. If anyone would be answering questions it would be me. “What the hell are you doing here?” he asked me, his voice cold enough to sting. Before I could answer, he stepped forward, grabbed my arm, and started dragging me out of the house like I was some thief he caught red-handed.“Let me go!” I shouted, trying to pull free, but his grip was like iron. Jared tried to say something, but Kael cut him off with one look. Kael turned to him with a glare. Jared clenches his fists but stays put. He looked pissed like hell. Kael yanked me toward his car that was just parked near the house, he opened the door, and
