"But why didn't she tell me before? What game is she trying to play with me? Why does it have to be now? No, I disagree. I need to unravel the real truth in this." Officer Lucas asked himself rhetorically as his voice echoed back to him. Plenty of unanswered questions roam inside his head with no one around to provide the answers.
"Now I see what Nurse Elizabeth is trying to achieve with this. She wants to manipulate me with some fake pregnancy, isn't it? There's no way I am letting her get away with it. Time to show her that I am smarter than she can ever imagine," Officer Lucas thought to himself. He doesn't want to believe that everything happening is a coincidence already.
Five years of relationship and it happened to be their first-ever fight. And it turned out to be worse.
To think that Officer Lucas already making plans to propose marriage to Nurse Elizabeth. He already contacted the event planning for the engagement party. He intends to make it the most memorable night of Nurse Elizabeth's Life.
Unfortunately, with the recent development, he is considering having a change of mind about marrying Nurse Elizabeth.
And with the pregnancy in the picture? The situation just got even messier for Officer Lucas. He's starting to witness a different side of Nurse Elizabeth he hasn't witnessed before in their five years of relationship.
He got so engrossed thinking about the pregnancy and forgot about his crucial meeting with the other policemen in his office.
"Oh, Romeo and the others are still waiting for me inside the office. So pathetic! I guess they must be tired of waiting for me already. How on Earth did I forget about them?" Lucas quickly regained his lost memory.
Without hesitation, he walked to his office. On the verge of entering, he heard them discussing him.
Upon hearing his name, Lucas changed his mind. Rather than going inside, he hid in a corner to eavesdrop on their conversation. The plan was to find out the plot they gave against him.
"I just hope it's not what I'm thinking right now. I don't want to believe the cops are plotting against me?" Lucas thought to himself.
"Well, there's only one way to find out about it. I will just stay here and get the information I need," he added.
"What's taking him so long to show up? Does his delay have something to do with the call he received?" Tony asked.
Lucas's constant refusal to show up is starting to mess with his head. He just can't wait to quit the force officially. His body might be there, but his soul wasn't.
"Take a chill pill
He will be here soon.
You have nothing to be worried. You just gotta be patient," Romeo advised. He yawned in fatigue and kept glaring at his wristwatch. Deep down, he was equally tired of waiting for Lucas to show up.
Unlike Tony, Romeo still has mad respect for Lucas. He would rather not utter derogatory remarks against him even though Lucas wasn't there with him.
"Coming from someone that just yawned as though he could eat a full cow." Tony fumed.
"Admit it, Romeo.
Are you scared of Lucas?
That's why you scared to speak up against him," Tony added.
It was as though Romeo knew that Lucas was outside. He sealed his lips and didn't bother to speak further.
"Holy moly!" Lucas exclaimed in shock from outside.
He covered his mouth to stop his voice from being heard inside.
"I can't believe Tony would be the one saying this against me. I thought he was a devoted Christian. What happened to his religious beliefs? Gosh! He's such a mother fucking hypocrite," Lucas snarled.
He got tired of listening to them and decided to rush inside himself. His ears were filled enough. He felt like donating them to Charity.
"Welcome back boss,"
Romeo greeted Lucas with a faint tone while Tony widened his mouth in shock.
Lucas was the last person he expected to see at that moment. He had a feeling that Lucas might have heard what he said.
He wanted the ground to swallow him. If he had a superpower, he would disappear into thin air before Lucas would start attacking him with questions.
"Tony, is there a problem? You look tensed. Did anything happen while I was away?" Lucas asked Tony. The question further fueled the tension as Tony's heart kept boiling like hot water.
"Nothing, Boss.
I am doing great,"
Tony answered, yet with shaky legs. His attitude already proved to Lucas that he might be telling a lie.
"Nothing, you say?"
Lucas giggled.
He stepped forward to where Tony said and pointed to his legs. "Why are your legs shaking? From someone who claims to be in good condition, I don't expect to find your legs looking this way,"
The question was direct, yet Tony was unable to provide the answers. He suddenly lost the bragging power he exhibited when Lucas wasn't around.
"Tony, is there something you want to say to me? I mean, while I was away, a lot might have happened," Lucas interrogated Tony again. He dwelled on Tony extensively and ignored the other policemen as though Tony were the only one in the room.
"I..." Tony stuttered. He was scared to admit to his crime. At the same time, he has no intention of telling lies due to religious beliefs.
"Can you please forgive me, sir? I shined against you and God," Tony begged. He couldn't handle the pressure anymore.
"Okay. This is getting interesting by the second. Let's hear what you have to say," Lucas applauded Tony. Although, the act wasn't genuine. It was meant to mock Tony which worked successfully.
Romeo stood there and folded his arms while the drama unfolded. He didn't make a move to intercede for Tony.
Rather, he was happy that Tony was in the mess because he had warned Tony about much about it. Too bad Tony was too stubborn to listen to Romeo's advice.
