"Exactly what you heard, Romeo. This is crazy. It's against my belief. I can't imagine myself being a partaker of something that's against my faith," Tony confirmed his decision to back out.

His lips weren't shaking either, and his legs were struggling to stand firm on the ground. He didn't stutter or mince words. It was as though he'd been waiting for this moment all his life to express his dissatisfaction.

"Your beliefs?" Romeo giggled. He paced around the office and returned a few seconds later.

"Please tell me this is a joke. It's too early to joke with a situation like this," Romeo doubted Tony.

Despite the seriousness on Tony's face, Romeo still didn't think he meant every damn word he said.

"I wouldn't utter a word to you anymore. I rather wait for the officer to show up. Perhaps, you are going to believe me when I say it to his face," Tony stated and stepped backwards. Those were the only words he uttered.

"he's serious about it,"

Romeo muttered in disbelief. Tony was the last person he thought would choose to rebel against Lucas. He had always perceived Tony to be a quiet type.

"What if Lucas decides to dismiss you for making such an outrageous decision?" Romeo asked for clarification. He believed that Tony wouldn't be stupid enough to sacrifice his job for some religious beliefs.

"Who cares about the damn Job? He can go to hell for all I care. The most important thing is maintaining my relationship with God. That's what matters to me right now. Every other earthly thing doesn't add up. In the end, I know heaven is the goal. I won't let anything ruin my chances of making heaven," Tony vowed.

Romeo was perplexed. He hasn't witnessed anyone so confident as Tony before. Now he understands why Tony is always calm and speechless.

Knowing it was a lost battle, Romeo stopped worrying about Tony. He knew that no amount of pressure would make Tony succumb.

"Who else among you want to back out like Tony? Don't be scared. Just admit it already and we are good to go. Trust me, I am not going to pick an offense," Romeo assured the others. He wants to be sure that Tony hasn't influenced others with his religious beliefs.

"Who else

No one?" Romeo asked again the moment no one answered. A thousand times, he asked until he got tired of asking and decided to stay calm and wait for Lucas to show up.

Meanwhile, Lucas was sweating over the phone with Nurse Elizabeth as they spent the last couple of minutes, arguing about Dexter's situation.

Unlike Lucas, Elizabeth doesn't want to press charges against Dexter. Seeing how wealthy Dexter's Father is, Nurse Elizabeth is scared that her life might be in danger if Dexter is prosecuted.

"You can't be serious, are you? Isn't that something you've always wanted from the onset? Why the sudden change of mind? Make it make sense to me right now," Lucas yelled at Nurse Elizabeth as the argument got even worse.

His voice was so loud that it echoed in his office.

"Did you guys hear that voice? It sounded like Officer Lucas. I think he's having a heated moment with Nurse Elizabeth," Romeo informed the others as the voice caught his attention, making it difficult for him to ignore.

"What should I do about that?" Tony snarled.

"It's not enough to make me change my mind and there's nothing you or anyone can do to change it," Tony angrily voiced out.

Tony's decision to bow out dealt a major blow to Romeo. In recent times, Tony has proved to be quite skilled and intelligent. It's safe to say that he's the smartest among the other cops.

Romeo is quite confident that Tony's departure will be felt, hence his struggle to get Tony back to the team.

Upon seeing that he had become the center of attraction, Officer Lucas stepped outside and went straight to where his car was parked. He would rather not let everyone find out about his evil plot against Dexter.

"Now see what you caused. Everyone thinks I'm going crazy," Lucas complained to Nurse Elizabeth and blamed her.

"That's on you,

I wasn't the one that asked you to go yelling over there. I just made a valid point. Too bad you are refusing to listen to me," Nurse Elizabeth smirked. She remained firm on her decision without being scared that her decision would get on Lucas's nerves.

"Would you rather I get arrested?

Is that what you wish for the one you love?" Elizabeth tossed the provocative question at Officer Lucas. The question put him in a difficult situation and seized his vocal cords. He suddenly forgot what he wanted to say.

"What do you mean by that?

Who's getting you arrested and for what reason?" Lucas stuttered. The utterances suddenly became too heavy to emanate from his lips. Nurse Elizabeth finally caught him off guard. It was something he had never seen.

"Dexter's Father is fucking wealthy.

It's only a matter of time before he finds out that I got his son arrested. I don't want to remind you what happens when he doesn't get to find his son," Nurse Elizabeth explained without actually hitting the nail on the head.

"Don't worry, no one is getting you arrested. Why don't you quit the job now before Dexter's Father finds out?" Officer Lucas suggested.

"Are you fucking stupid?

Did you just listen to yourself right now? I am carrying your baby. There's no way I'm risking my life just to satisfy your ego," Elizabeth sparked outrageously and ended the phone before Lucas got the chance to speak further. He kept staring at his phone like a lost soul. He tried calling her back to confirm what she said about the pregnancy. Unfortunately for Lucas, she wasn't taking the calls. Neither did she return the missed calls.

"Nurse Elizabeth is pregnant for me?'

Lucas muttered succinctly as his voice echoed back to him. Thousands of questions plagued his head with no one to respond to any of them.

  • Married To My Enemy; Loved By His Brother   Kelly's Sudden Interest

"Am I interrupting anything interesting? This place looks quiet. Why do I have a feeling that you all suddenly stopped talking because I walked in? Are you all discussing me? I might just walk away if my presence is making you all uncomfortable." Kelly asked with seriousness. The sudden silence in the room worries him so much. He could have sworn that he heard some voices when he was still outside. "Kelly, please stop. Stop drawing unnecessary conclusions. It doesn't even make sense to me. This has nothing to do with you. Why do you think everything is always about you, huh? The least you could have done was to ask. This is not the way to go about this." George fumed at Kelly. Not even the news of Dexter's arrest made him react that way. He poured out his frustration at Kelly as he was the one who got Dexter arrested. "Okay. I guess it's not about me after all. At least, I know I am safe,' Kelly sighed.Another awkward glance from George fueled another suspicion."What? Stop starin

  • Married To My Enemy; Loved By His Brother   Reopening Closed Wound

Slowly, Ciara walked to the door and opened it. She stood at the door entrance to ensure that Walters didn't force himself inside the house. "You look stunning tonight. What the heck am I saying? You always look stunning. But tonight, it's different." They were the first words of Walters, immediately he saw Ciara. He couldn't get his eyes off her as though that were the first time meeting each other. The plan was to flatter Ciara and make her fall for Walters again. Sadly, it wasn't working. Ciara already knew what his intentions were. "What do you want?" She shunned his flattering words and went straight to the point. She can't deny the fact that Walters himself looks good. Due to what's at stake, she couldn't admit it. "I just want us to talk. Can I at least come inside let's have a decent conversation?" Walters begged. He sounded sorrowful like the biblical prodigal son who showed up to his father's house after wasting his inheritance. "You want us to talk?" She giggled and

  • Married To My Enemy; Loved By His Brother   A Guest From The Past

Peeping through the tiny hole from inside, Ciara spotted a familiar face at her doorstep, holding a flower bouquet. He was dressed in a dark suit as though he were heading for a dinner date. It was a face that brought back old memories. He was the last person Ciara expected to see at that crucial time. This was the moment Ciara wished it was Derek. She felt that his presence was more significant than the person outside. "I can't believe it's Walters that's standing outside my doorstep. He is even dressed in a suit. What exactly does he want from me? I thought I would never set my eyes on him ever again. Why didn't he reach out to me personally? For crying out loud, it's 8:20 PM. Is he that jobless?Doesn't he have important places to be at this time? Why come to my house? What if my Father was around?" Ciara lamented in a low tone. Too many mysteries surrounding the presence of Walters, her ex-boyfriend. They haven't spoken to each other since Walters called off their relationshi

  • Married To My Enemy; Loved By His Brother   The Prosecutor

"I said nasty things about you in your absence that shouldn't have been said. I allowed my emotions and anger to control me. Now I am regretting every one of my actions," Tony confessed, yet failed to hit the nail on the head. He got Lucas and everyone confused."I don't understand what you are talking about. You still haven't told me what I need to hear. Can you please go straight to the point? You are not even making sense right now," Lucas fumed. He pretends not to know what Tony says about him. He wanted Tony to admit it himself. "I kind of pulled out of the plan to prosecute Dexter in your absence. Not just pulling out, I also tried forcing everyone to make the same decision," Tony finally took the courage to speak up. It was the most difficult task of his life. He would have sworn that he was never going to say that. To everyone's surprise, Lucas didn't react to Tony's confession, nor did he confront Tony. Instead, Lucas laughed and shook his head in pity. Tony got more scar

  • Married To My Enemy; Loved By His Brother   Elizabeth's Change Of Mind

"But why didn't she tell me before? What game is she trying to play with me? Why does it have to be now? No, I disagree. I need to unravel the real truth in this." Officer Lucas asked himself rhetorically as his voice echoed back to him. Plenty of unanswered questions roam inside his head with no one around to provide the answers. "Now I see what Nurse Elizabeth is trying to achieve with this. She wants to manipulate me with some fake pregnancy, isn't it? There's no way I am letting her get away with it. Time to show her that I am smarter than she can ever imagine," Officer Lucas thought to himself. He doesn't want to believe that everything happening is a coincidence already. Five years of relationship and it happened to be their first-ever fight. And it turned out to be worse. To think that Officer Lucas already making plans to propose marriage to Nurse Elizabeth. He already contacted the event planning for the engagement party. He intends to make it the most memorable night o
