"What else do you want me to say that makes sense? I still can't fathom. Where is the problem? Are you sure it's Dexter you're worried about or someone else? More so Is this the reason you've been restless?" Doctor Escobar asked. He was yet to understand the reason for Kelly's worries.
"Unbelievable, from you Doctor Escobar. I can't understand why you are yet to see the problem, even when it's damn obvious." Kelly bemoaned. Here he was thinking that speaking to doctor Escobar was going to solve his issues.
"Calm down, Kelly.
I suggest you go home and relax.
You've been stressing yourself over George's situation. I am pretty sure that you will be fine after that," Doctor Escobar advised.
"No, Doctor,
I don't need rest.
I require advice.
I'm old enough to know what I want for myself," Kelly raised his voice at Doctor Escobar. He suddenly realized his mistake and apologized to doctor Escobar. "Sorry, I yelled at you. It wasn't my intention. I was just overwhelmed with what has been happening in my life lately."
Doctor Escobar didn't pick any offense. He thoroughly understood what Kelly was passing through. He was damn sure that Kelly was stressed. Too bad Kelly has refused to listen to him.
"What would you have done if you happened to be in my situation? You are a doctor. Not quite long ago, you confessed to having a bit of knowledge about therapy. I guess this is the perfect time to prove your worth to me. " Kelly inquired. He needed to know if he was taking the situation too personal.
"I would do absolutely nothing about this, Kelly." Escobar hurriedly spoke. He didn't wait for a few more minutes. It's as though he knew what Kelly wanted to ask about.
"Nothing?
So you are not going to be bothered the same way I'm feeling right now?" Kelly asked again.
"Just let it go, Kelly. It's not worth the stress. Why on Earth should I be bothered to speak the truth? It's a good thing you made that move. I saw the look on Dexter's face.
Now he knows how it feels to treat people as though they don't even exist," Doctor Escobar buttressed. He might be making sense, but sadly, Kelly didn't see it that way. He's got a different perspective on the matter.
"What kind of doctor are you? To be honest with you, you are more brave and ruthless than me. How did you do it?" Kelly was marveled. He couldn't help but acknowledge Doctor Escobar's bravery.
"It's natural.
I am heading to George's room. Mind to come with me?" Doctor Escobar asked, while shying away from the conversation. He's been looking for a way to end the conversation, and he finally found one.
"Do you think that would be a great idea? I don't want to ruin a beautiful Father and son moment," Kelly refused. He was reluctant about going with Doctor Escobar.
"You wanted to apologize to Dexter, didn't you?" Doctor Escobar asked Kelly and reminded him of his intentions.
"More than anything in the world," with smiles reaching his ears, Kelly responded.
"Then come with me.
Who knows? This might be your chance to make that happen," he told Kelly. With the right words, Doctor Escobar was able to motivate Kelly to come with him.
Arriving in the doorway, Kelly halted back. He refused to move forward. Fear has eaten the best part of him. His confidence was gone. What's left inside was emptiness.
"So what now?"
Escobar frowned, the moment he noticed that Kelly has refused to move with him
With a shaky voice, Escobar responded, "I am scared. What if?"
"What if what?" Doctor Escobar hurriedly cuts in.
"What in heaven's name is wrong with you? Why do you keep acting like a child? Honestly, I didn't expect such behavior from. For crying out loud, Dexter could pass as your son. If he were your son, would you have behaved this way towards him?" Doctor Escobar fumed. He poured out his frustration without holding back.
_____
"I am going to walk out of this door and that's the last you will see from me. I am done having this conversation with you," out of frustration, Dexter yelled at George. He completely made peace with his father.
"If you dare walk out of that door, consider yourself a bastard. I will cut you off completely," George issued the threat.
"This is a joke, isn't it?
Does it ever cross your mind that I'm your first son? You know what that means, don't you? Technically, I am the heir apparent to your empire," Dexter bragged.
Being the first son to George Cooper has given him so much confidence he definitely has something to fall back to if everything goes sour.
"Did I tell you this?
Did my lawyer reveal that to you? Wait a minute, do you have the intention to murder me and take over my inheritance?" George launched the series of questions at Dexter.
"Dad, really?
You dare say those things to my face? What makes you think I would want to kill you?" Dexter defended himself in a low tone just to make it look real and convince George about his innocence.
"Oh, please.
Don't give me that crap. I see the mind games you are playing and I am not gonna fall for it. I am smarter than you," George said further.
From Dexter's utterances, George was already suspecting that Dexter wanted him dead. It was a thought harbored inside of him.
He had wanted to confront Dexter about it, but just decided to keep the observation to himself.
As George tried to maintain his silence, he started to feel uncomfortable. The silence was causing more harm to his soul like never before.
Tired of staying quiet, George tossed the question that has been on his lips for a while. "I just hope you are not harboring any evil thoughts right now? If that's running through your mind, then I should probably get you arrested before it becomes too late,"
