When she saw that they had all nodded in response to the information she had just given them, Fanny continued with the plan.
"You can all prepare whatever you want to eat. Dinner will be at 6, so you can refrain from cooking during those times, Emily," Fanny stated. "Any questions?"
They all shook their heads, and Fanny took her seat. Emily smiled gratefully at them. "Thank you all for this, and please, let's make ourselves comfortable for this month and relax."

Minutes later, some people left the sitting room. Emily turned to Lila, who was engrossed in writing in her journal. Emily had noticed that Lila was usually quiet.
