Chapter 7: "this way, miss"
Ava stared at the dead screen for a while. This man is really unbelievable. He did not even wait for her response before he ended the call. That's not the important thing right now, though. She needed to get herself out of the trouble she was in. She quickly sent her address to the number. The man might change his mind if she took too long before sending the account number to him. Some minutes later. Seven cars stopped in front of Ava. Several bodyguards got out of the car. A look of surprise crossed Ava's eyes. Who are these people? Their faces are so frightening. Did they come for her life? Did Henry send them to take her life? Or is it her family? No. There is no way it will be any of them. They are not rich enough to be able to hire all these men. Or is it Mr Andrew? No, he is not the one. Mr Andrew would rather send some hooligans to get her, not these rich bodyguards. Or is it... "Miss, please get in the car." One of the men in the black suit said. Interrupting her thoughts. He opened the car door for her to enter. Ava seemed to be in a daze for a moment and shock was written all over her face. "Who are you people? Who sent you?" She asked. Hugging her back tightly as if her life depends on it. Her eyes scanned the men from head to toe. Everything about the men was screaming luxury. Though She didn't know much about design, she's sure their suits are very expensive. There is no way the Smith family would be able to hire them. The bodyguards exchanged glances before one of them finally replied "We are not in the position to answer your question. Can you please get in the car first?" "Okay," Ava replied and walked over to them. She entered the car and the bodyguard closed the car door. He got in the passenger seat and the driver drove off. Ava's curiosity was killing her. She was afraid she would die if she did not ask the question on her mind "Is your boss Mr...." She suddenly remembered she did not know his name. She ran her hand through her hair in frustration. "Is your boss the person I called just now?" The bodyguard turned around and flashed Ava a small smile. "Even if I mention his name. I doubt you will know who he was, so please. Wait till we get there first. He only sent us the address and told us to come and pick you up." he replied. Trying his best not to at the girl. The girl has been asking too many questions, and it's kind of annoying. He was surprised to see a young girl who seemed to be in her early twenties. Ava could sense the anger in the bodyguard's voice and stopped asking any more questions. So the man is their boss. Just how rich is the man? How can a man be that rich? She wondered what he looked like. She can't even picture what he will look like in her head. Maybe he is some kind of chubby old man. Yeah. That is what he will be. After what seems to be an eternity. The car finally stopped in front of a very big mansion. Ava widened her eyes in shock as she stared at the castle-like house in front of her. She glued her head to the car glass and widened her eyes in shock. There is still a fountain in this house. She is probably in heaven? Is she dead? Is this paradise? She yelled in her head. Staring at the house alone makes her forget all her worries. "We are now here, Miss." One of the bodyguards said and opened the car door for her. She jumped out of the car so she could get a proper view of the mansion. Beautiful flowers were planted everywhere. The place is just so beautiful. Even beautiful is an understatement. If she knows any other word that she can use for this house. It will be her pleasure to use it. She keeps on looking around. Her eyes twinkled in excitement. She looks like a little kid who just visited the amusement park for the first time. She was unable to hide the excitement in her eyes. "This way, Miss." One of the bodyguards said. Motioning for her to enter the house. She knows she shouldn't get too excited. She's here for another reason, but she was looking around instead. She must be out of her mind. She must not show that she's excited to be in a house like this. The maid opened the wide door and she and the bodyguard entered. She was surprised to see some maids forming a line. They were all neat, and they looked good in their white and black uniforms. For some unknown reasons. She wished she was also a maid here. She loves their uniform so much. Her eyes keep scanning the place. She can't just get enough of it. She wished she could have a tour around the house, but this would be the first and the last time she would be visiting there. She only went there to beg for money. "I will take my leave now. You can sit there. I will inform the boss that you are here. The man said and left in a hurry. Ava kept on looking around in amusement. A maid suddenly walked over to her and handed her a cup of fruit juice. "Here, have it." "Thank you so much." Ava took the fruit juice from the maid and thanked her. She was drinking her fruit juice happily until she heard some footsteps behind her. She turned around instantly and was shocked to the bone to see the man before her. He is so stunning. He is breathtaking. Ava had never seen a man that was handsome like that.Chapter 150: Aurora's Disappointment Manuel took the stairs two at a time until he was able to get a hold of his sister. She swatted his arm away from her, sniffing in loudly. He grabbed her tighter this time and spun her around until she was facing him. Tears ran down her face freely and his heart broke on seeing his sister looking pale and hurt. He had made a promise to his late mother to always protect her and yet, he was making her cry. His mother would turn in her grave for this. "I am so sorry." He apologized, his eyes brimming with tears. "What were you trying to do? Kill a man? What was that supposed to achieve?" Her cries cut deep into his heart. His palm covered her lips as he cooed her to be quiet. "Shh! Don't yell. I am sorry. I promise I will never do that again."Aurora stared into her brother's eyes and couldn't tell if she believed him or not. Something about him had changed. He was no longer that sweet, young, unassuming big brother man she had looked up to for pr
Chapter 149:Lost Memory?"What do you mean by he lost his memory?" Manuel yelled as his sister explained the events that occurred today at the hospital."I don't understand. I am not a doctor, I do not have a scientific explanation for that. But I do have a strong feeling that what happened to him is a result of the kick you had given him to knock him out." She hissed at her brother. "What? That dude would have gotten us caught if I hadn't done what I had done earlier. Gosh, I had so many plans for when he woke up." He groaned in annoyance."Hey, calm down, I do not know you to be this angry. Anyway, what plans did you have?" Her curiosity got the best of her. "Money, sis! That guy was supposed to be our ticket out of this miserable life we are living." He hissed. Aurora stared at her brother in confusion wondering what he was talking about."I do not get you. How is he the ticket out of this?" She waved at their shabby apartment without furniture. She may not like how their apartm
Chapter 148:Damien Awakes.Aurora walked into the hospital ward clutching a thermos flask. She couldn't explain why, but she had felt so convinced to pack food for the unconscious man.It has been days, and he has yet to come out of his coma. The doctors were not saying anything anything positive about his situation, but she was certain he would wake up someday, like today. Her smile was wide as she sat beside him. His body was stoic and unmoving, just like the first time they had brought him here. He had not moved an inch since, but she had watched him change."Good morning, big friend." She beamed widely as she dropped the flask on the stand where stuffs were kept."I brought lunch today. I hope you would be hungry about to wake up and eat some." She announced with a grin, acting as though he could hear her. Her brother had fought vehemently against her doing this, but she didn't care. The man was human like her and he deserved to be communicated to in the most lovely way possible.
Chapter 147:You Bitch!"What the hell are you doing in my office?" Ava barked out at her step-sister. Lily jumped down from the table, her hands slipping off her husband's neck like fish gliding through water. She was shocked by the voice she heard, not because it sounded different, but because she didn't expect it. Ava ought to be at the police station. Her spies in the force had assured her Ava was taken and would not be out for a very long time. The fact that Damien wasn't here to help her out made her believe that. "What are you doing here?" Lily asked with a frown on her lips. "I should be the one asking that question. Who the hell do you think You are to come in here and start kissing your husband in my office?" Lily rolled her eyes and strolled from behind the table. "To be clear, this office is mine and you were only able to stay in it for a while because your husband had stolen it for you."Ava grated her teeth on hearing this. Damien may not be here, but it didn't mean s
Chapter 146: Don’t You Ever Accuse Me"Am I going to be next?" Sophia stormed the balcony where Ava was deep in thought. Her kind was still reeling from the image of Regina rolling on the ground in pain until she finally went still and died. The news of her death was out, and as usual, a lot of speculations were already flying about. "What are you talking about?" Ava asked, pretending not to know what was being talked about. "I am talking about the hit you made on Regina. First, it was my brother and now her. Who next? Me?" Sophia yelled.Ava jumped from her lounge chair with fire in her eyes. She had lost her husband and ought to be the most hurt in this whole scenario, but everyone kept on blaming her for things she knew nothing about. She wasn't at fault for anything, and she wouldn't appreciate it if she was accused of what she wasn't responsible for one more time. "Don't you ever accuse me of Damien's murder ever again. I didn't kill Regina and I have no reason to. But if you
Chapter 145: Damien’s SeedAva stared at the latest result and this time around, a smile was plastered on her face. She had never envisioned it and even though she had met the news with mixed feelings earlier on, she was now certain that the universe wasn't as unfair to her as she thought it was.Damien may have been unfairly taken away from her, but a part of him still lived on in her. She was pregnant for his child, their child, and to her, that was the best legacy she could give him. He would never forgive her if she killed herself to be with him. She has to stay back and take care of the child growing in her womb. Suddenly, her heart was filled with gratitude at the man who had saved her at the dock. If her memory served her right, this was the second time he was saving her; the first one being at the party where she was almost poisoned. He seemed to be at the right places at the right time. Was he her guardian angel? Had Damien sent him to her to keep her safe? She wondered and
