Chapter 8: Ten million dollars
He is the most handsome man she has ever seen in her entire life. She's one hundred percent sure that he's the most handsome guy on earth. There is no way anyone can be more handsome than this. So she gets the chance to spend a night with this Adonis. Is this guy even a human? How can a guy be this handsome? She was sure every girl would be praying to have a one-night stand with him. So should she consider herself lucky? This guy is so freaking hot and freaking handsome. He is just too handsome. This guy is the real definition of beauty. He also had some feminine features that added more to his charm. Ava couldn't get her eyes off him, and she seemed to be daydreaming again in her fantasy world. "Can you please get your eyes off me?" The cold, terrifying voice of the man brought her back to life. Her cheeks turned red instantly out of embarrassment. She was caught red-handed while staring at him. She didn't know why everywhere was so cold. The man was exuding a chilly aura and his face was not smiling at all. Ava shivered uncontrollably. The only thing good about this man is his face. His aura is indeed something else. How can a man be this frightening? He looked so fearful and he was exuding a chilly aura. She wondered how the people around him survived. She kept on shivering without even realizing it until the glass cup in her hand fell on the ground, making a loud crashing sound. The glass shattered on the floor and the contents spilled on the floor. Ava widened her eyes in horror. It was not her intention to drop the glass. She couldn't even bring herself to look at the man before her. She quickly bent down to clean the floor and pick up the shattered glasses. Fortunately. A maid was quick to come and clean the place. "Clumsy." That was the word that escaped the man's lips. This made Ava even more embarrassed. She wished the ground would open and swallow her. She's afraid she will die of embarrassment and suffocation if she stays there any longer. "Have your seat." She heard the man's cold voice and quickly took her seat. She was practically shivering. It was as if she was splashed with a bucket of cold water. She's sure she can't survive a day with this man. "You said you needed my help. I didn't expect it to be this soon though. What do you want? Is it money?" The man asked. There was a tint of mockery in his words. The only reason he left a note was because the girl was a virgin. He was drugged last night and the culprit was none other than his grandfather. He had been bugging him to find a wife, and he thought the only way to get him married was to let him sleep with a girl. He thought she was different from other girls. But he had disappeared when he got a call from her earlier. This shows she was not a bit different from all those shameless girls. Who knows if she intentionally threw herself at him? This alone fueled his anger. "I think I asked a question just now. What do you need my help for?" He asked again. His voice was even colder, making Ava shiver. "I... I... I" She stuttered. She had even forgotten what she had come here for. "Do you need money?" He asked with a raised brow. His cold voice resonates throughout the place. Ava didn't know how to reply to him and could only nod slowly. She was so ashamed of herself right at that moment. She came to ask for help from the man she barely knew. There is no doubt that the guy will think she's just a shameless bitch. "How much do you need? Two million dollars? Four million dollars? Or is it five million dollars? "Ten million dollars," Ava said and closed her eyes instantly. It took everything in her to be able to say that. She went to her knees immediately and held her hands up in a pleading way. "I'm so sorry to ask you this kind of thing. I'm so sorry. I won't promise to pay you back because I know there is no way I will be able to get that money. But I promised to pay part of it. Please don't say no, you are my last hope. You are the only one I could think of." She almost burst into tears while begging him with her eyes closed. After waiting for some seconds, she got no reply from him and opened her eyes slowly. The man was staring right at her face with no expression on his handsome face. "Please, I need the money urgently. My adopted family is about to sell me off. Please help me. They collected ten million from Mr Andrew. Do you know Mafia Andrew?" She asked, but the man gave her no reply. She continued "He is the one they want to marry me off to. We are getting married tomorrow. I refused to marry Mr Andrew and I know my family well. They will not return the money. So the only way for me to avoid this horrible fate is to return the ten million dollars my family collected from Mr Andrew. You are the only one I can think of. I promised to pay part of it. Please lend me the money." She pleaded. It took everything in her to force back the tears that were brimming in her eyes. The man suddenly rose to his feet. He closed the distance between them and bent down to reach Ava's level. Ava forgot to breathe for a moment when the man's sweet scent drifted into her nostrils. She raised her head and her eyes met with his dark Phoenix eyes. His eyes looked like a bottomless pit.Chapter 110: What Have You Done?Damien stirred from his sleep. He hated the nightmares that were befalling him that night. Images of Ava reaching out and begging him for help danced through his mind. The images filling his head were so unsettling that he rose with a start and glanced at the other side of the bed. It was empty and it caused his heart to jump in panic. “Ava?” He called out into the dim room, hoping she was in the bathroom. There was no response and this officially got him worried. “Ava, where are you?” He called out as he stood up from his bed and walked around the room, glancing around for any sign of his room. He was about to walk into the bathroom when he noticed that the bedroom door wasn’t properly locked. Taking a deep breath, he walked out of the room and immediately heard the sound of struggling and gulping. Instinctively, he headed to the balcony where the hot tub was located and the sight that greeted him caused bile to form in his mouth and his stomach to
Chapter 109: I Will Take Care Of Everything “Thank you so much for defending me against Regina. I wasn’t in the mood for a fight and was thinking of the best way possible to get away from her.” She thanked him as their vehicle sped along the highway. “Hey, it is nothing. You are my wife, and I ought to protect you at all costs. It was too bad that she tried to hurt you. If you want, I can get her arrested. It would be nice to teach her some lesson so she doesn’t try this ever again.” He said. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach at his words. She would never have believed that a day would come when he would defend her so greatly, like today. “So, what made you leave Dr. Xavier’s office? Did she call you out or something?” He asked as he maneuvered the car through a bend. “No. I intended to gift the good doctor something. If it wasn't for him, you and would most likely not be together anymore. I am so grateful to him and just thought I should get him something. Unfortunately, I le
Chapter 108: What’s Going On Here?Ava glanced around the whole space, thinking of how best to avoid Regina and the trouble she was promising. If she wasn’t in a haste to get back to Damien and Dr. Xavier, she would have taken the time to be trashy to the woman in front of her. “You look so scared like you want to run away. Well, you know what? It is best you run away because what I intend to do to you is terrible.” Regina hissed and menacingly towered over Ava. “Regina, I wish we could roll on the floor and drag our hair at each other, but I do not have the time for that. I have to go. I will see you some other time.” She answered and tried to make a beeline for the elevator, but Regina’s gait and agility were faster than her reflexes. Regina threw her to the floor in one fast move. Ava felt her head spin as pain exploded in her head. She was momentarily dizzy, and the pain traveled down her body, causing her to ache. Gosh, she had been trying to avoid trouble, and yet it came to
Chapter 107: Just My ManAva watched what used to be her family walk out of the office. They were all smiles even after agreeing to Damien's condition in a heartbeat. “What is wrong? You look like you have seen a ghost.” He asked her as he grabbed her into his arms. She settled into his warm body and laid her head on his chest. His heartbeat was steady and strong, promising her that everything was going to be okay. She desperately wanted to believe that, but not with the amount of money he had just thrown out to her family. When he had said that he had a condition for her family before giving them the money, she had thought it was something serious, only for him to demand that the Smiths make a minimum of 50 percent return on the amount he was going to give them. Her family had readily taken it and signed a contract, confident that they were going to get their business up and running in optimal capacity with the sum he had given them. "I may have not seen a ghost, but I just watc
Chapter 106: ShamelessDamien glanced at the Smith family and took in a few breaths to center himself. He didn't want to do anything crazy, especially not with Ava around. He wanted to protect her, including from himself. “Despite all the good you have done for my wife, which we are both grateful for, I don’t think I can help. You see, I just recovered from a coma and my business is yet to pick up. Hopefully, some other time, I would be able to help.” He said with a forced smile. Ava let out a breath certain that this should be enough to dissuade her family from asking him for money, but she was wrong. They all stared at each other and chuckled lightly. “Mr. Silver, you seem to forget who you are. You are not just the richest billionaire in New York, you are the richest in the world. No matter how bad your business goes, you would definitely have a heavy sum to help us with.” Mr. Smith said. Ava could not believe the shamelessness of her adoptive father. He was still asking for mo
Chapter 105: Your Word Is My LawAva can’t say how it happened, but before the door swung open, she and Damien were fully dressed with her leaning against the table with a pen in her hand. “There he is. I told you he would be expecting us.” Lily announced to the security guards who were trying to prevent her and her family from coming into the office. Ava’s countenance immediately changed on seeing her adoptive family here. Wasn’t it clear that they no longer had anything in common and she owed them nothing? Why was she also saying that Damien was expecting them? "Good day, sir. They came in and insisted that they wanted to see you. The receptionist informed them that they needed to get an appointment first before they could get an audience with you, but they were so adamant that you were expecting them. We tried to stop them, but…" One of the guards explained with a shrug. Damien raised his hand in the air, stopping the guard and all the noise that was filtering into his office.
