SARA’S POV

I went to Kane’s office to tell him about the outing I booked for us. Our first one as a family, I wanted us to bond with Lilly and make memories. But when I got to his door, I heard them talking about Jade.

The way he spoke about her, I could tell that she was the woman he loved and admired. His voice was soft and gentle when he spoke about her.

If she was an ex I wouldn’t mind, but she is the woman he spent thousands if not millions in manpower and resources to find. She means a lot to him that is clear.

How stupid could I be? How could I have been fooled like this, believed his words when he told me that he wanted it all with me.

I thought we were moving forward, that we had a connection and that we were going to be a family. How could I have let my guard down when he made me sign a contract?

He knew what he was doing when he made me sign that contract. But I went and fell in love with him over some intimate moment we shared, his empty words and us adopting Lilly.
