Roana’s POV

I stepped out of the room, shutting the heavy oak door behind me with a soft but final click, muffling the broken sobs that still echoed within. Selene’s screams clawed at my ears, but I didn’t flinch. I didn’t look back. Mercy was a luxury I couldn’t afford—not now, not with everything at stake. The cold marble floor beneath my boots seemed to mirror the chill settling in my chest.

I walked toward the balcony, each step deliberate, my fingers curling into fists at my sides. The night air greeted me with a biting breeze, but I welcomed it. It cut through the heat of my own fury, cooling the storm surging beneath my skin.

She would hate me. And maybe she should.

It was going to hurt her—I knew that. But it was the only way to keep her safe. If Selene walked away now, if she thought for even a second she had a choice in this, she’d be dead by morning.

If I had to be the villain in her story to keep her breathing, so be it.

The soft patter of footsteps behind me barely

He stood directly in front of us now, and the distinct scent of his expensive cologne pierced through the acrid smoke that surrounded us—something undeniably masculine that sent a rush of warmth through my limbs and weakened my knees. His presence seemed to fill the entire space, commanding and absolute, like a force of nature that was impossible to ignore."I think you have something that belongs to me," Ronan said, his piercing gaze locked onto Damien but, oddly, also enveloping me in its intensity. There was a sense of possession in his voice, but beneath that surfaced something deeper—an undercurrent of protection, perhaps even a hint of tenderness that caught me off guard.I watched as Damien’s bravado unraveled right before my eyes. His grip on my wrist, which had felt almost vice-like moments before, loosened and fell away completely. In that instant, he transformed into a child, caught in the act of pilfering cookies from a jar, his earlier confidence evapo

  • THE DEVIL'S POSSESSION   Chapter Fifty Three: Surprise

Tears threatened to spill down my cheeks, burning like acid behind my eyes. But I couldn’t allow them to fall, not here, not now, and certainly not in front of Damien. I bit down hard on my lower lip, tasting the metallic tang of blood as I fought against the overwhelming urge to break down completely.Letting him see me cry would be like handing fresh meat to a hungry wolf—relentlessly cruel. It wouldn't change anything; it would only make the moment more exhilarating for him. I recognized that look in his eyes, that predatory gleam that flickered to life whenever he sensed my vulnerability. He thrived on it, drawing power from my pain and despair. My left cheek still throbbed from the sharp slap he'd delivered just moments before. The heat radiating across my skin felt like a brand, and I could sense the tender flesh beginning to swell. The metallic taste of blood lingered in my mouth where my teeth had bit down on the soft skin, a reminder of the force

  • THE DEVIL'S POSSESSION   Chapter Fifty Two: On My Own

Selene's POVI was paralyzed, my eyes locked on Damien as he moved closer, his footsteps echoing ominously in the cramped bathroom like a tolling bell signaling doom. The fluorescent light overhead flickered erratically, throwing harsh shadows across his face that made him appear even more menacing than I remembered him to be. My hands quivered at my sides, fingers itching to grasp something that could serve as a weapon or at least a barrier between us.The cold, unforgiving tile wall pressed against my back, its chill penetrating through my thin dress and settling deep into my bones. I knew there was nowhere left to escape. The small bathroom morphed into a claustrophobic prison cell, with its grimy mirror reflecting my pale, terrified face and the single stall offering no real chance for an exit.I couldn’t help but think, "Yes, he’s right," as my mind raced with frantic calculations. "Ronan is still back at the clubhouse, while I’m trapped here in this bathroom. He wouldn’t hear my

A low, rumbling chuckle escaped his lips, the sound reverberating through the dimly lit corner of the club where we sat. The bass from the music seemed to pulse in rhythm with my heartbeat as his eyes fixed on mine with an intensity that made me shift uncomfortably in my seat."You need to pay me because I helped you act," he said, his voice cutting through the ambient noise with surprising clarity. There was something in his tone—part amusement, part seriousness—that made my stomach clench with unease."Pay you?" I repeated the words, feeling foreign on my tongue as I tried to process what he'd just said. The colored lights from the dance floor cast shifting shadows across his face, making it difficult to read his expression fully. But his eyes-those dark, calculating eyes—never wavered from mine.He nodded slowly, deliberately, as if savoring my confusion. The gesture was almost predatory, like a cat that had cornered its prey and was now taking its

  • THE DEVIL'S POSSESSION   Chapter Fifty: I Asked For Permission

Selene's POVThe kiss had ended mere seconds ago, yet the phantom sensation of Ronan's lips against mine lingered like a ghost's caress. My breath came in shallow, uneven gasps as I struggled to regain composure. He had nearly stolen every ounce of air from my lungs, leaving me dizzy and disoriented in the most intoxicating way possible. The world around us seemed to blur at the edges, as if someone had smudged watercolors across my vision.I turned my head toward the direction where I had encountered Damien earlier, catching sight of his retreating figure disappearing into the crowd of swaying bodies. A small, satisfied smile tugged at the corners of my lips as I watched him go. There was something almost triumphant about the moment – knowing that he had witnessed what had just transpired between Ronan and me. The thought sent a peculiar thrill racing through my veins.By all accounts, I should have been mortified. A proper young woman would have bee

  • THE DEVIL'S POSSESSION   Chapter Fourty Nine: Jealousy

Damien's POVMy fist clenched so tightly that my knuckles turned white, the sharp bite of my nails digging crescents into my palms as I stared—no, glared—at the scene unfolding before me. Selene. My Selene. Pressed against Ronan Blackwood like she belonged there, like she had every right to let his hands roam the small of her back while his lips claimed hers with a possessiveness that should have been mine alone. The crystal champagne flute in my other hand trembled, the amber liquid sloshing dangerously close to the rim. I wanted to hurl it across the opulent ballroom, watch it shatter against the marble floor in a thousand glittering pieces—just like my composure was threatening to do. But I couldn't move. My feet felt leaden, rooted to the Persian carpet beneath them as if the very ground had conspired to trap me in this torturous moment. When she had first walked through those towering double doors, her silhouette framed by the golden light spilli
