My heart stopped, “What?” I asked, seeking clarification. “We are not true mates,” she said, tears continuing to stream down her face. Rage filled me. This could not be the case. I was crazy in love with Marly. I felt sparks every time we touched. I could not wrap my head around what I was hearing.
“That is not possible, sweetheart,” I said trying to reassure her. “I know what I saw,” she replied, angrily. “I do not doubt your talents; I am simply saying I do not believe they could make our bond this strong, if it was just magic,” I replied, in a soothing tone. She looked up at me, “Do you think so?” she questioned, needing reassurance. “I know so,” I said, pulling her into my arms.
I could see the King and Queen frowning, like they believed something else, but I shook my head giving a subtle gesture that they not contradict what I had said to assure Marly. “What we need to do is go and see the bastard and
