“Where is my mum?” I asked the maid after walking around and not finding her around the house.
I wondered where she could be, because she hadn’t gone anywhere in days.
As a matter of fact, she hadn’t gone out since the incident of Oscar’s death. It was as though she deliberately stayed to keep watch over me, especially when I left the house to visit Mark without her knowledge.
“You shouldn’t have done that, Ivy. Now the news is out there and you are only just ruining things even more,” she had said, feeling more disappointed than ever.
I was used to her feeling of disappointment and anger now, and I felt no remorse for what I did. I still feel no remorse at all. Whatever I did was the best I could do for Oscar. With the news out, I was certain that Mark would be hiding away in shame.
“She said she would be going to the salon, and she has left,” the maid responded.
“When did she leave?” I asked, surprise that she would actually leave the house without informing me.
