Why Him?

AUTHORS POV

Tessa stumbled into her hotel suite like a woman possessed, the door slamming behind her with a sharp finality.

Her heels were soaked, her cloth clung to her skin, and her cheeks were sticky as her makeup smudged under the rain and tears she could no longer control.

She barely made it to the center of the room before the sob rose again—raw, guttural, and unrelenting.

She clutched her chest as if her own heart betrayed her.

“Why?” she gasped to the silence. “Why him? Why now?”

George’s kiss hadn’t been wrong.

In truth, she’d wanted it.

There had been a moment, a beat, when her body leaned into it, when her eyes had fluttered shut and her breath had caught with something that felt terrifyingly close to longing.

But the moment his lips met hers, it hadn’t been George’s face her mind conjured.

It was Pedro.

His mouth. His scent. His possessive hands and the way he used to cradle her jaw before claiming her lips like he owned them.

She hated herself.

  • RELUCTANT BRIDE FOR THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE   Let it be Real, Lord

AUTHORS POVThe office was unusually quiet that morning.Tessa sat at her desk with her elbows propped on the smooth glass surface, fingers laced beneath her chin, eyes fixed on the empty coffee mug in front of her. Files sat untouched. Her laptop screen was still on the login page. She hadn’t been able to focus since she walked in.Her mind wasn’t here.It was back at the Lorenzo mansion.Back in Dean’s smile as he blew out birthday candles.Back in Pedro’s voice when he’d said, “Tell me what to do.”He’s changing, she thought. Or he’s pretending better than before. But which is it?The knock on the door snapped her back.Clarissa peeked in. “You’re not in a meeting, right?”“No. Come in,” Tessa said softly, straightening.Clarissa entered with a cup of hot tea in one hand and a little wrapped pastry in the other. She placed both on the desk.“You skipped breakfast,” she said knowingly.Tessa smiled faintly. “Thanks.”Clarissa sat in the chair across from her and studied her friend c

  • RELUCTANT BRIDE FOR THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE   Birthday Wish

AUTHORS POVDean pulled back and looked her over. “You came! You really came! I told Daddy you would.”She smiled and hugged him tighter. “Of course I did. I wouldn’t miss your special day my sweet heart. I love love love you so much.”Pedro watched them quietly. For a brief moment, everything else faded—the guests, the decorations, the music. All he saw was the woman he had wronged, holding the child they had made, loving him with a fierceness Pedro could never quite replicate. And Dean, who hadn’t smiled all day, was now glowing. It was as though with Tessa’s timely presence, the party came alive.Tessa held Dean’s hand as he showed her the bouncy castle and the giant cake. The magician pulled her into a trick that made her laugh. She helped Dean feed the goats in the petting zoo. Every eye was on her, the woman they had only heard rumors about, now here, radiant and warm.Pedro kept his distance. He didn’t want to ruin the moment. But every laugh that left Dean’s lips twisted somet

  • RELUCTANT BRIDE FOR THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE   Deans Birthday 9

AUTHORS POVThe Lorenzo mansion hadn’t looked this festive in years. Golden balloons floated in bunches across the courtyard, shimmering in the early afternoon sun. Cartoon character cut-outs lined the entrance—pirates, dragons, and knights—all handpicked by Dean a week before. A magician stood near the fountain, adjusting his tall hat, preparing for the show. Servers flitted about in black-and-white uniforms, balancing trays of mini burgers and strawberry smoothies.Pedro stood at the top of the stairs, overseeing everything with a tense expression. He wore a navy blazer over an ironed black shirt, looking every bit the part of a wealthy, powerful father hosting his only son’s grand celebration. But beneath the expensive fabric, his stomach churned with nerves. He did not know what name to put to the torrents of emotions he was feeling, these past few months of being Dean’s dad had showed him a side of himself he never knew existed.Dean was five-going-on-six, and he hadn’t stopped a

  • RELUCTANT BRIDE FOR THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE   Invitation To Dinner

AUTHORS POVThe wind swept gently through the balcony curtains of Tessa’s penthouse apartment as she stared blankly at nothing in particular, she just took it all in, the cool breeze, the view, everything. Lights twinkled across the city like fireflies, distant and unreachable—just like her peace of mind tonight. Her laptop sat open but untouched on the coffee table. A document blinked, awaiting her signature—yet she couldn’t bring herself to concentrate. Her mind was somewhere else, stuck on a five-year-old boy with Pedro’s eyes and her curious, stubborn soul.It was Dean.It was just a few days till his sixth birthday, and she hadn’t the faintest idea how to celebrate it. Should she call him? Send a gift? Or show up and live a heart ache in the little boy’s heart? Her phone buzzed on the armrest beside her. Pedro was calling. She stared at the name for a moment. She could already guess what the message would be about. Over the last few weeks, he’d become surprisingly consistent—text

  • RELUCTANT BRIDE FOR THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE   Therapy session 7

AUTHORSThe air inside Dr. Lucía Fernández’s therapy room always seemed too still—too quiet—for Pedro’s comfort. It was the kind of silence that pressed against his chest, urging him to speak, to confess, to feel. And that, more than anything, unnerved him.He sat stiffly on the corner of a wide cushion, trying to mimic the relaxed posture Dr. Fernández had suggested during their first session. Beside him, Dean sat with his knees tucked to his chest, his eyes focused on the same Lego blocks he always reached for. Week after week.It had been three sessions so far. Three long, heavy sessions. And each time, Pedro found himself hoping for a breakthrough—some spark of connection, a smile that lasted longer, a shared joke maybe. Instead, what he got was silence… or worse, those half-formed sentences that Dean would direct only to the therapist.Today wasn’t any different.“Dean,” Dr. Fernández began in her soft, even tone. “Can you tell us how you felt this morning when Papa asked you to

  • RELUCTANT BRIDE FOR THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE   Therapy begins

AUTHORS POVIt was a crisp Thursday morning when Pedro found himself sitting uncomfortably in the waiting room of the Fernandez Child Development Emotional Center, a child psychology centre tucked in a quiet Monterrey neighbourhood. The walls were painted in soothing shades of pastel blue and green, with framed pictures of smiling cartoon animals and motivational quotes that felt oddly condescending.Dean sat beside him, legs swinging restlessly as he hummed a tune under his breath—probably one of the ones Tessa used to sing to him. Pedro noticed how his son kept glancing toward the large aquarium in the corner. A bright orange fish swam up to the glass, and Dean’s eyes lit up.Pedro, meanwhile, felt like he was about to walk into an ambush. He glanced at the flyer Tessa had sent him, titled:“Emotional Attachment Repair in Early Childhood Trauma”Just reading the phrase made him feel judged. He had protested at first.“Therapy? For what? He’s just a boy. He’ll grow out of this.”But
