Chapter: Chapter 5 Chapter 5Isabella’s P.O.V“It’s good to see that you’re doing okay.” He smiled warmly at me and I couldn’t help but do the same so that I wouldn't appear tense.“Thank you for saving me.” I immediately appreciated him while my eyes rovered around the table with different delicacies but now it was just the two of us that were present, my stomach churned hungrily and I couldn’t help but stare at the food wondering where to start.“It’s nothing, I’m just happy that you’re okay, you need a lot more rest and you will be fine.” He tells me and I nod my head in agreement. “Why don’t we begin eating, I see you’re craving them.” He chuckled, making me blush slightly at how he could easily tell what I wanted.“Sure.” I answered before digging right into my food, I didn’t care if it was poisoned because after what had happened to me, I ought not to trust anyone but yet this man was treating me with so much kindness even though he barely knew me.I took a piece of different food to try out and

Chapter: Chapter 4 CHAPTER FOUR Isabella's P.O.VI felt held by steady arms, and then I was carried to a place and was laid down. “How’s she doing?” I heard a voice, more majestic than I have ever heard in entire life.“She’s coming up Alpha.” Someone responded to him.“Make sure she wakes up.” The majestic voice said again.Where was I? I tried to open my eyes but my eye lids seemed stuck in place letting darkness consume me. Suddenly I saw myself in a church. Logan was saying the vows but the bride wasn’t me. “Noooo..” I screamed trying to separate them but my hands went through them. Logan looked so happy, his smile was more beautiful than I have ever seen as he moved forward to kiss the bride. Then the scene changed and I saw my father look at me with contempt in his eyes, he looked so disgusted and my mother behaved like I wasn’t there.“Daddy….” I whispered, I couldn’t believe the look I was seeing.“Take her away, I don’t won't have anything to do with such a useless daughter, she is of no u

Chapter: Chapter 3CHAPTER THREE Isabella's P.O.VEver since I was a little girl, I'd had an irrational fear of the dark. I jumped at little noises that were most times just the creaking of my bed, and startled at sudden movements that were always just random items of clothing hanging off chairs or in closets. Now though, nothing about those fears were irrational or fake.Trees with long branches and sweeping leaves waved back and forth in the slight wind, and the wind made a high whistling sound as it wove through the dense vegetation, rustling the dead leaves on the forest floor. I hugged my arms to myself as I walked, the heels of my shoes sinking into the soft earth. I was suddenly yanked backwards by my dress and I screamed, whirling around and expecting to see someone holding on to me. I heaved a quiet sigh of relief and a titter at my own jumpiness when I saw that the train of my dress had simply snagged on a tree root. Sighing, I gripped the flimsy lace firmly and pulled taut, ripping it in t

Chapter: Chapter 2CHAPTER TWO Isabella's P.O.VIt was late evening when I stood from where I'd lain curled up on the wooden floor. Silently, I put my hands up to my hair and tugged, sending the tiny pins holding my hair up in the intricate hairdo pouring to the ground. I tossed the veil pinned to the back of my head away, not even caring where it landed and walked to the small door at the side of the church. The little field outside was deserted and I thanked the Goddess for that. I wasn't sure I would be able to stand seeing any sneering gazes. Thankfully, the church was near one of the woods that bordered Ravensong and my parents pack, Stormfang. With a final gaze at the Ravensong Pack house in the distance, I trudged into the woods, the lengthy train of my dress dragging behind me sluggishly. I walked for what seemed like hours, but was really only just a few minutes. Stormfang was very close to Ravensong. My eyes were swollen with tears and they stung anew whenever I thought of what had happened

Chapter: Chapter 1 CHAPTER 1I felt a smile of giddy happiness stretch across my lips as Logan strolled confidently towards me down the aisle. Yes, he was late, and it wasn't customary for brides to wait for their grooms at the altar, but I couldn't care less. I was finally marrying the man of my dreams, and a little tardiness wasn't going to ruin my day. I expected to see the same look of unbridled joy on Logan's face or even one interspersed with a mildly nervous expression. When Logan was close enough for me to study, however, the expression on his face wasn't one I could decipher. Our eyes didn't meet as he came to a stop in front of me and the stately priest who cleared his throat self-importantly and began the ceremony."Cutting it pretty close, aren't you?", I joked in a whisper, smiling besottedly at the man who would make me the happiest woman on earth. His eyes stayed firmly affixed on the ground, not even giving the slightest response to my attempt at breaking the sudden tension between us

Chapter: Chapter 5CHAPTER 5: Father's ExplanationDerek's POV“What do you mean, father?” I asked with a frown creasing my facial features.“I mean what I said,” Father replied. “This girl is your stepsister!” He repeated the words. Those cursed words!I immediately turned and looked at Layla who stood next to me with her eyes widened and her face etched with confusion.“No.” She shook her head. “It can't be. I'm afraid you must have gotten me confused with someone else Alpha King.” She said.“No. I haven't.” My father scoffed. “You see years ago, I went into Evergreen Pack where I met a woman. It didn't take long before we were so hooked up with each other. We got drunk and slept at the inn. It wasn't until morning I realized what I had done…” He trailed off.I was horrified by what I was hearing. My muscles were clenched and cold sweat trickled down the back of my neck.I always thought that my father was the most faithful man I had ever known and I guess Mom always thought that way too until she di

Chapter: Chapter 4 CHAPTER 4: Something To Offer, Something To GainLayla's POVI suddenly wheeled around as the hand clamped down firmly on my wrist. If I had already found my wolf, I would have attacked, and I would have stroked out immediately but on the contrary, I was quite weak as compared to the man's monster energy.I turned and found myself staring into those ocean blue eyes and what was that on his face? A small smile tugged at the corners of his lips.“Let me go!” I screamed and immediately swung a punch at him with the other arm but he caught my hand effortlessly.Who was I kidding? He was an Alpha! I had heard him addressed as Alpha and that alone was reason enough to distance myself from him. I had had my fair share of Alphas and the trouble around them.“Calm down, will you?” He spoke calmly as if he was just relaxing in front of a TV with a beer in hand.Calm down? Never!! I screamed inwardly as I still struggled against his grip.“Help!” I yelled at the top of my voice. “Somebody help!!

Chapter: Chapter 3CHAPTER 3: Bad And RebelliousLayla's POVDaven sitting leisurely on the couch when I came through the door. He had the remote control in his hand and was flipping through the TV channels in a relaxed manner. How could he be so relaxed after destroying my life?! I cried internally. At the sound of my voice, Daisy returned to the room.“Ah she's back.” She said as she moved to sit beside Daven. “I take it you went to visit Mom and Dad.”I kept quiet. Hearing her voice only added to suffering. The sister I loved wholeheartedly. The girl I thought had died all those years ago and had lived with the guilt for years, the same girl was here in the flesh and for some stupid and untrue reasons was ready to end my life.Daven rose from the couch and retrieved the divorce papers from the table. He approached me with an evil glint in his eyes. I reached out to collect the divorce papers, the papers that would put an end to the complicated marriage we had going on for 5 years, the papers that wo

Chapter: Chapter 2CHAPTER 2: Life Time Secrets Laid BareLayla's POV*FLASHBACK*“Daisy! Hold on!” I was out of breath as I heaved on the rocky path leading to the cliff where Daisy was suspended, dangling dangerously over the deep and steep valley covered with thick and dense foliage. The sweat from the hot sun baked my skin mercilessly as hot sweat poured into my eyes, stinging my eyes in the process. “I'm slipping!” Daisy's cry came again, sending goosebumps to my skin. From where I was, I couldn't see her but I pushed on and on with relentless energy. Even as I did, part of my mind kept screaming at me HOW COULD YOU BE SO STUPID, LILY?! HOW COULD YOU ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN?!..Daisy rarely went out, talk more of doing so with me. It was my idea to embark on this hike, the peaceful hike through the woods as I had called it. “I'm here!” I screamed out as I finally arrived at the top of the heel where Daisy had voluntarily climbed for sightseeing but had instead, met a sudden descent into the steep

Chapter: Chapter 1 CHAPTER 1: AniversaryLayla's POV“Where do you want the extra flowers, Mrs Kruger!” A servant called in urgency.“Mrs Kruger, this part of the wall is all set!” Another called, loudly. The house was buzzing with energy as servants and maids scurried from corner to corner hanging up designs and decorations and I was caught in the middle of it all, overseeing the decorations and giving pieces of advice where necessary.Mrs Kruger… The name had a certain ring to it, I must admit I wasn't used to being called Mrs Kruger, at least not yet. “Mrs Kruger!” Someone interrupted my thought thoughts, rousing a little irritation from within me.I turned sharply only to find my best friend, Sabrina by the door. I forced a small smile as I walked towards the door to welcome her. “Sabrina.” We embraced. “You're really early, you know that? Really punctual.” I said, sarcastically.“Oh please… Gimme a break.” She rolled her eyes. “Traffic was something else. And heyy you've got everything set alrea
