Even the insects had fallen silent. Something was wrong. She backed away from the stream, hackles rising along her spine. Her wolf senses screamed danger, but she couldn't pinpoint the threat. I am twenty years old, and I have been a rogue my whole life. I don't know who my parents are. I don't know if they are dead or alive or if they ever wanted me. I don't know anything about where I came from. All I know is that I have been on my own since before I can remember, stealing and lying and fighting just to stay alive. That is what rogues do. We do the dirty work. The illegal work. The work that packs do not want to admit needs doing. In return, we get money, food. A chance to see another day.

Mason's voice dripped with fury as a low rumble began to grow in his chest. Danica could feel her heart stop at the one word that came out of Mason's mouth. A rogue? I replied and flipped my hair. We were all done with our meal and sharing stories by the camp fire when one of the warriors, I think his name was Camie, asked " Luna. What did it feel like to be a rogue?" another warrior nudged him hard " Insensitive much?"" Oh no it's fine. It's fine" I said quickly. They kept quiet, " Well for starters, Rogues live their lives on the run most of the time. But that's more common for those who weren't part of a rogue pack, like me, although I did have one--" "--but she was banished" Felix cut in.

Gross, this guy just does not give up. Spinning on my toes, I turn and look the rogue in the eyes. Anger is coursing through me at this point, and I am sure that my eyes are glowing silver. "I told you to get lost," I growl at him. He takes a step back from my growl and he stares at me. "Well, well, well. You don’t smell like a wolf," he says sniffing my hair.

By lunch came about I grabbed my phone and made a call to cancel our lunch plans. “Hey babe, I am sorry but I am on my way back from the rogue camp. The smell down there is terrible. They were right, it's like a month-old rotting flesh and dead fish. I think the Blackblood Pack and their loyal following idiots have been trying to get the rogues to move back off protected land. Dumbasses just want to hunt them down.” I said annoyed. “I haven’t smelt any of that up our way.” He said confusedly why only the smell would be down the hill from the main compound?
