Chapter: CHAPTER NINETY NINE
Asher's PovMonths had passed since the chaos, the gun fire, the betrayal and the night I almost lost him. The city had moved on but Caden and I hadn't. You don't just don't move on from something like that. You heal in fragments and sometimes, painfully but the one thing that made it easier was knowing we were doing it together. Caden went back to work at Booker Legacy Group, reclaiming his seat as CEO like he'd never left. He still worked ridiculous hours, tapping away in his laptop long after midnight. Most nights, I'd lean in the doorway with a cup of coffee in my hand, watching him. The city lights reflected on his glasses and softened his face. There was something grounding about those moments. It was peaceful.I'd left private security altogether. I told myself I was done protecting people who didn't care whether I lived or died but somehow, I still couldn't stop protecting him so when Caden offered me a position as Director of Corporate Security at BLG, I didn't think twice.

Chapter: CHAPTER NINETY EIGHT
Caden's PovI'd never seen Asher this angry before. It started the night Lia tried to kill us both. He'd become this different version that harbors a special kind of hatred for her and her only. Now, she was behind bars. He was glad. But then, the police said she wouldn't speak to anyone but Asher. She wouldn't even look at the detectives when they interrogated her or even the psychologist the state hired to drill her with questions. They all got the same silence. She wanted to speak to Asher. I was fed up with the cold shoulder he was giving her.“Asher, she's asking for you.” I said, standing near the hospital window. “It’s just one conversation. Maybe she'll confess to everything she did.”He didn't even glance my way. His jaw flexed and his eyes didn't leave the screen of his laptop. It was as if he was trying to erase her name from existence.“Asher!” I crossed my arms.“She tried to kill you, Caden!” He finally answered me. “She planted that bomb. She pulled the trigger. Why t

Chapter: CHAPTER NINETY SEVEN
Asher's PovThe room was too damn quiet.Caden had been home for less than an hour but it already felt like the walls were closing in. The smell of disinfectant was staring to mess with my head and the florescent lights made me want to throw something at the fucking walls.Frisbee sat across from me, hunched over his phone like a vulture in a roadkill. Giovanna leaned against the wall, her arms crossed but if I knew her, she was just one bad update away from flipping a table. Then, Frisbee's phone slipped from his hand and hit the floor with a crack loud enough to wake the dead.I arched my brow. “Are you planning on starting a demolition company?”He ignored me and grabbed his laptop. “What happened?” I asked, curiosity creeping into my tone.Frisbee's fingers flew over the keyboard. “Caden just called. The woman in the house is not Lia.”My eyes widened. “Wait. What?” “She's not Lia,” Frisbee repeated. “He says she's a fake.” Giovanna pushed off the walls. “How is that even poss

Asher's Pov“They did it. They reconciled!” Caden rushed back to our seat in the lobby, his cheeks bright pink. “I went in to check in on them and they were kissing. Damn, you're a good matchmaker, Asher.” I smiled and drew him close. “Of course. I did help a lot of folks get together back in Mexico.” Caden didn't look like he believed me. He arched his brow and stared at me like I grew a nose on my forehead. “You?”“Yes.” he said as he laughed.I watched him smile and thought to myself that I prefer this version of Asher. The carefree, kind, and funny type.He caught me staring and smiled. “What is it?”“What was that for?” I smiled. He thought hard for a second before realizing I'd been talking about what he did back there with Gastby and Gus. “Clearing the air.” he shrugged and laughed. “Well, I guess you're right. I didn't know those two had something going on,” I sighed. “Gatsby deserves to be happy and if Gus isn't the one, he shouldn't be with her. Right?”Asher didn't res

Chapter: CHAPTER NINETY FIVE
Gatsby's PovI lost my appetite and will to live in the same fucking day. The crazy thing is : it's my fault.“Are you alright, dear? You look a little pale.” Heather, the girl at the counter asked me.I blinked. “Sorry?”“I said you look a little pale.” She repeated as she handed me a bag of wheatgrass powder.“Oh.” I took the bag slowly. “I'm just tired. Nothing new.”“Well, get some sleep.” she smiled weakly. “Sure.” I nodded slowly and turned away from the store. I was not ready for another lecture about my looks or my weight. I've gotten enough sermons from my neighbours.I trudged to my apartment and stumbled inside. I managed to catch myself before I lost my balance. God, not this again. For the past 4 days, I'd been stumbling like a bloody fool. Well, that happens when you don't eat for hours on end. Ever since Gus left, my entire body shut down. I can't even eat. I can't sleep. I can barely get my body to concentrate on anything. I understood my role as the acting CEO but r

Chapter: CHAPTER NINETY FOUR
Caden's PovGatsby's been sleeping a lot lately and I'm getting worried. At first I thought she was pregnant but she wasn't and apparently, there weren't any signs. Then, I thought she was just tired. It didn't seem that way either. I knew a physically-tired person when I saw them. They'd just be fatigued, most of whom will complain about it. Gatsby looked tired but it wasn't the physical type. She lost a lot of weight. There were bags under their eyes and she was even too exhausted to talk to anyone.Asher gave me a light nudge when she visited. “Is she okay?”“No,” I shook my head. “I asked but she wouldn't tell me.”“Should I go talk to her?” He offered.I shook my head again. “I think we should give her time.”“Time?” His eyes wandered to her. “I don't think she… Gatsby!"I turned to see her body wobble before it hit the ground.“Fuck!” I rushed to her side before Asher could hobble to where she was. “Hey,” I cupped the back of her neck and lifted her up. “Gatsby?”She didn't r

Chapter: CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY ONE
The estate was mostly quiet by the time Lance came back.Rain had started sometime after midnight, water sliding down the massive windows in thin streams while the guards outside rotated shifts under the dim courtyard lights. Most of the house had gone still hours ago.Ragnar was still awake.Of course he was.He sat in his office with untouched documents spread across the desk, though his attention hadn’t truly been on work for the last hour. His mind kept circling back to Lance leaving with Marcus earlier that evening. The club. The drinking.Marcus’s idea of relaxation.Ragnar already hated it.A knock came at the office door before it slowly opened. One of the guards stepped in carefully.“Sir… Lance is back.”Ragnar looked up immediately.Something in the guard’s expression made his eyes narrow.“What happened.”“He’s drunk.”A pause. Then the guard added carefully, “Very drunk.”Ragnar exhaled once through his nose before standing. That alone was irritating enough. Lance rarely

Chapter: CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY
Marcus didn’t believe in rest. Not really. To him, a “day off” just meant finding a different kind of violence. The club was loud enough to make thoughts feel distant, bass shaking through the walls and up the floor while lights flashed red and gold across bodies moving too close together. Expensive liquor, expensive perfume, fake laughter. The kind of place filled with people pretending they weren’t dangerous while surrounded by men who actually were.Lance walked beside Marcus through the crowd, hands in his pockets, expression unreadable.Women noticed him immediately.Of course they did.He had changed in five years into something impossible not to stare at. Tall, sharp-faced, scar crossing his eye, tattoos peeking from beneath dark clothes, his presence heavy in a way that made people instinctively look twice even when they shouldn’t.Some looked interested. Some looked nervous. Most looked both.Marcus grinned as they entered the VIP section, one arm thrown lazily over the back

Chapter: CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY NINE
Ragnar’s room was quiet, but unlike the rest of the estate, this silence wasn’t tense. It was suffocating. The kind that pressed against his ribs the longer he sat in it.Rain tapped softly against the windows overlooking the grounds, the dim light from outside spilling faintly across the dark wood of the room. Papers sat abandoned across his desk, untouched for over an hour now. His drink had gone cold beside them.None of it mattered.Because his mind kept circling back to the same person.Lance.Or whatever was left of him.Ragnar leaned back slowly in his chair, fingers pressing against his temple as exhaustion settled deeper into his bones. He rarely allowed himself moments like this. Sitting still meant thinking too much, and thinking too much lately always ended badly.Especially when it came to Lance. He could still see him clearly from earlier. The blood on the corridor floor. The guard choking on his own throat. That grin on Lance’s face after doing it.Oops.Like it was fun

Chapter: CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY EIGHT
The door clicked shut behind Jungwoo. For a few seconds, he didn’t move. One hand remained on the handle, fingers curled there loosely, as if he could still feel the heat of the room through the wood. The corridor was quiet, long and dimly lit, the kind of silence that usually calmed people. It did nothing for him. His breathing was slower than it should have been. Too measured. Too controlled for what was happening underneath. Then something in his face shifted. The polished amusement he wore so easily cracked at the edges, revealing something sharper beneath it. His eyes darkened, pupils blown wide as the last few minutes replayed themselves with cruel clarity. Lance’s hand around his throat. The sudden force of being driven into the floor. The look in his eyes when he did it. Not hesitation. Not confusion. Something feral. Something that had learned violence so deeply it now lived in his bones. Jungwoo bit down hard on his lower lip. Hard enough to

Chapter: CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY SEVEN
Lance’s room was dark except for the narrow strip of moonlight slipping through the curtains. He hadn’t bothered turning the lights on.Darkness made more sense lately. It matched the inside of his head better than anything bright ever could. He sat on the floor beside the bed, knees drawn close, one arm wrapped across his stomach while the other hand dug into the side of his skull hard enough to leave crescent marks. His breathing came unevenly, not frantic, not weak—just strained, like every breath had to fight its way through something lodged in his chest. The voices were back. Not voices in the ordinary sense. Not ghosts. Not madness the way stories described it.They were memories sharpened into sound.Marcus barking orders in that cold amused tone.Men screaming from pain, from fear, from the realization no one was coming to help them. The crack of bone. The wet noise steel made when it entered flesh. His own laughter, louder than the rest. That one always sickened him most.Bec

Chapter: CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY SIX
The club was built to look expensive.Dark marble floors, low gold lighting, music heavy enough to shake the walls, people dressed like they had never known fear. On the surface it was luxury.Underneath it, everyone important knew what it really was.A distribution point.Money upstairs.Drugs downstairs.Bodies somewhere in between.Ragnar arrived first with two men behind him, expression unreadable as always. He hated places like this—too loud, too crowded, too many angles to watch at once. But Marcus had given direct orders.Go with Lance. Collect the shipment. No mistakes. That alone had irritated him.Because Marcus knew exactly what he was doing by forcing them together.Ragnar stepped through the VIP corridor and immediately saw him.Lance stood near the bar like he owned the room.Black shirt half-open at the throat, sleeves rolled to reveal tattooed forearms, a chain catching the dim light. He looked older than his years now. Harder. Sharper. The softness that used to live i
