His contract, my chains

His contract, my chains

Alina Rivera's world comes crashing down when her father suffers a stroke and falls into a coma, leaving her to save the family company from the brink of collapse. With clients walking away, investors losing confidence, and the board questioning her ability to lead, desperation pushes her toward an offer she never imagined accepting. Marry Damien Black. The ruthless billionaire CEO promises to rescue Rivera Enterprise, but only if Alina agrees to become his wife for twelve months. With no other choice, she signs the contract. What Alina doesn't know is that Damien has spent years waiting for this opportunity. Haunted by a painful childhood and driven by a grudge he inherited from his father, he believes the Riveras destroyed his family. Marrying Alina isn't an act of kindness. It's the first step in a carefully planned revenge. But living under the same roof changes everything. As walls begin to crumble and unexpected feelings emerge, Damien finds himself torn between the vengeance he's carried for years and the woman he never intended to love. When long-buried secrets come to light, Alina discovers the truth behind their marriage and the devastating reason Damien chose her. Betrayed and heartbroken, she walks away. Now Damien must decide whether he's willing to lose the only person who ever made him believe in something more than revenge. In a story of love, betrayal, forgiveness, and second chances, two broken hearts must confront the past before they can have a future.

Chapter: Invasion
Alina's POV---I was lying in bed, staring at the ceiling, when I heard it.Voices. Loud, insistent voices. I sat up, disoriented, my heart pounding."Mother, you can't just..""Nonsense, Damien. It's already decided."I froze. That was Eleanor's warm, melodic voice. And Damien's cold, controlled one.I threw on my robe and walked to the top of the stairs. Below, in the foyer, Damien stood with his back to me, his hands clenched at his sides. Eleanor was in front of him, elegant as ever in a cream silk blouse and tailored trousers. Behind her, Ethan was carrying two large suitcases, grinning like he'd just won a prize."Mother," Damien said, his voice strained. "You can't just move in without telling me.""I'm not moving in," Eleanor said smoothly. "I'm visiting. For a few weeks. There's a difference.""A few weeks?""Your home is big enough for all of us," she said, waving a hand dismissively. "And I want to get to know my future daughter-in-law. Is that so wrong?"Damien's jaw tigh

Alina's POV --- The dinner ended with Eleanor kissing my cheeks. I stood in the middle of the dining room, suddenly aware of how alone I was with Damien. The candles flickered on the table. The remnants of dinner sat between us like a barrier. "Your mother is lovely," I said, filling the silence. "She's something," Damien said. His voice was flat. Unreadable. "You don't get along?" "We get along fine." He moved toward the table, picking up his empty glass. "We just don't see eye to eye on certain things." "Like what?" He looked at me. His grey eyes were cold. Unreadable. "Like her decision to remarry." I felt a pang of sympathy. "You don't approve of Richard?" "Richard is fine." He set the glass down. "I don't approve of her forgetting." "Forgetting what?" He didn't answer. He just stood there, staring at the glass like it held all the answers. I thought about what Eleanor had said at dinner. I haven't been a Black for years. The way she'd said it, like she was relieved.

Chapter: Daughter in-law
Damien's jaw tightened. "Ethan.""What? I'm just stating facts." Ethan took my hand, lifted it to his lips, and pressed a soft kiss to my knuckles. "Wow. Damien, you didn't tell me she was this stunning.""Ethan," Damien warned again."Oh, hush," Eleanor said, swatting her son's arm. "Let the man compliment your future wife." She looped her arm through mine. "Come, sit with me. I want to hear everything about you."I glanced back at Damien. He gave me a small nod. Permission? Encouragement? I couldn't tell.Ethan offered me his other arm. "I'll escort you, my lady."I took it. He led me toward the dining room.---The dining room was breathtaking.A long mahogany table stretched across the center, draped in crisp white linen and set with gleaming silverware. Crystal glasses caught the light from a massive chandelier overhead, casting tiny rainbows across the walls. Fresh flowers, white roses and eucalyptus ran down the center of the table in elegant arrangements. The table was laden w

Chapter: What's marriage without the ring
Alina's POV---I kept walking down the stairs. Each step brought me closer to him. The air between us grew thicker, charged with something I couldn't name. My heart was pounding so hard I was sure he could hear it. My palms were clammy. My legs felt unsteady beneath me.Breathe. Just breathe. I told myself. I reached the bottom of the stairs. I stopped in front of him.The flicker in his eyes was gone now replaced by that familiar cold mask. But something lingered. A shadow. A ghost of whatever had been there moments before. I could see it in the way his jaw was still tight. The way his fingers still gripped the glass a little too hard.He was affected. He was trying to hide it.But I'd seen it."You clean up nicely," he said. His voice was flat, controlled. The same cold tone he always used.I didn't know if it was a compliment or an insult. The words hung between us, impossible to read."Thank you," I said anyway. My voice came out steadier than I expected. He nodded. Then, as if r

Chapter: First dinner
Alina's POV---I stood in the doorway, clutching the bag, my heart racing. The sound of his footsteps faded down the hall, each one echoing in my chest like a drumbeat.I closed the door, leaned against it and left out a loud sigh. What was that look? The way he'd stared at me. The way his eyes had traveled over my body, lingering on my lips, my curves, the thin fabric of my robe. I'd seen something flicker in his gaze..something dark, something hungry. But then it was gone. Replaced by that cold mask he wore like an armor.Did he hate what he saw? Was he disgusted?I shook my head. It didn't matter. None of it mattered. This was a contract. A transaction. Nothing more.I walked to the bed and set the shopping bag down. I pulled out the tissue paper, slowly, almost reverently. And then I saw it.The dress. Deep emerald green. The color of ancient forests and precious jewels. The fabric was silk, impossibly smooth, catching the light like liquid emerald. It was slightly off-shoulder,

Chapter: my wife
The next morning, I woke up with a hollow feeling in my chest. I'd barely slept. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Damien's face. His cold smile, his burning gaze, the way he'd leaned in so close I could taste his breath.I showered. I dressed. I drove to the hospital. The familiar smell of antiseptic hit me as I walked through the doors. The fluorescent lights buzzed overhead. I took the elevator to the third floor, walked down the hallway to room 312, and pushed open the door. My father lay there, just as he had for the past five days. Still. Silent. The ventilator hummed its steady rhythm. His hand rested on the white sheet, pale and motionless. I pulled up the chair beside his bed. I took his hand in mine. It was so cold, so thin. I held it gently, afraid I might break him. "Hey, Dad," I whispered. "It's me." No response. There never was. I talked anyway. I told him about the board meeting, about Harris's cold eyes and the sixty-day ultimatum. I told him about my plan,
