THE ALPHA'S DRAGON HEIR

THE ALPHA'S DRAGON HEIR

Alpha Kaelen Shadow-Claw stared at the four year old boy with his face, and at the woman he divorced five years ago standing in his council room like a queen made of ice. "Elara," he whispered. "Is he mine?" "He's MINE." He threw her away like she was nothing. Kaelen has spent half a decade trying to forget the woman he divorced. Elara has spent the same years learning how to hate him properly. Now the ex is standing in his council room, stronger and bolder, and the child between them is only the beginning. Some wounds do not close. Some creatures do not forgive. And some exes come back carrying fire.

Chapter: Chapter 6
[ELARA]Glass shards hit my face and arms. Tiny cuts open across my skin but I barely feel them because all I can think about is Leo.I turn around and cover him with my body the second the windows blow in. Cold wind floods into the room right after the glass, thick with the heavy smell of rain and wet stone. Leo makes a small scared sound against my chest and presses closer. The dragon under my skin wakes up fast and hard. Heat spreads through me chasing away the u wanted cold in the air. I can smell Kaelen’s anger clearer than the storm itself.Kaelen is in front of us before the last piece of glass even lands on the floor. His arms are out wide and he is growling so deep that the floor shakes under my heels.“Stay behind me,” he says, and his voice sounds purely wolf less than 2 seconds he shifts into his large white wolf and completely shields us from the chaos.I pull Leo tighter against me and step back until my back is against the wall. His little hands are fisted in the front

Chapter: Chapter 5
[ELARA]I drive with both hands locked on the wheel so tight my knuckles hurt. The city lights blur past the windows.I sent Marcus home earlier because the environment is becoming too dangerous for a human, and I don’t want him to get involved in the supernatural bullshit. Leo sits in the back talking to Mr. Whiskers like the cat can answer him. I keep nodding at whatever he says so he will not notice how hard I am breathing.Three days. That is all I promised. Three days for the deal. Then we leave. My mouth still tastes like him. Kaelen’s kiss. The way his hand squeezed my ass in that hallway. Heat still sits low in my stomach and I hate myself for it. Five years and one touch and I am right back there. Soft. Stupid. Wanting.I bite the side of my thumbnail until I taste blood. The hotel suite feels too quiet. Leo throws his backpack on the couch and his crayons spill everywhere. Mr. Whiskers jumps up beside him and also starts licking his face like nothing is wrong. I lock the doo

Chapter: Chapter 4
[KAELEN]I move without thinking. Three long strides and I'm in front of her blocking the hallway. She almost crashes into my chest."Move," she says."No.""Kaelen I swear to God…""He just melted steel with his MOUTH Elara. You can't walk out of here like that's normal.""It IS normal. For him." She shifts Leo higher on her hip. The boy is watching us with those burning eyes, his head going back and forth between us like he's watching a tennis match. Mr. Whiskers has given up fighting and is hanging limp in Leo's arms like a furry hostage who has accepted his fate. "He's been doing it since he was two. I handle it.""You handle it? He breathed FIRE.""And I put out fires. That's what I do now. I put out fires and clean up messes and I do it alone because that's how you wanted it.""I never wanted…""You SIGNED for it Kaelen. You threw the papers at me and told me I wasn't enough. So I left and I figured it out on my own. That's what not enough people do. We figure it out."The words

Chapter: Chapter 3
[KAELEN]I have never seen Elara move that fast. One second she's sitting across from me with that ice queen attitude, the next she's spinning out of her chair so quickly it nearly tips over. Her face goes white. Her whole body locks up like every muscle just remembered how to be afraid at the same time.I follow her gaze to the doorway. And my entire world stops. There is a child standing in my council room. A little boy, maybe four years old, breathing hard like he's been running. Dark hair sticking up in every direction, crayon stains on his shirt, cheeks flushed red. He's clutching an orange cat against his chest with both arms and the cat looks absolutely murderous, ears flat, tail puffed up, eyes promising violence."Mama, Mr. Whiskers got out of his box and he run out of the car when the man opened the door and I had to chase him all the way inside and the big guys at the door tried to stop me but I was too fast!"He said all that in one single breath, chest heaving and Proud o

Chapter: Chapter 2
There are two guards standing at the entrance. Big and muscular and trying way too hard to look scary. One of them sniffs the air when I approach and his face scrunches up confused. He smells something on me that doesn't fit. Something not human and not wolf. I can see his brain working overtime trying to figure it out.Good luck with that buddy."Ma'am we need to verify your…""I have a meeting with your Alpha," I say flatly. "Move."Something in my voice or maybe something in my eyes makes him step aside without finishing his sentence. His partner gives him a look like "what the hell man" but I'm already past them both. The hallway inside is cold stone and dim lighting and portraits of past Alphas covering every wall like some kind of testosterone museum. Kaelen's father with his stern jaw and battle scars. His grandfather looking like he ate nails for breakfast. All of them with the same golden eyes and the same expression like they could bite through steel and wouldn't hesitate to

Chapter: Chapter 1
[ELARA]I still remember the sound the papers made when they hit the table. It wasn't loud. Just a soft yet loud thump against the wood. Like it was nothing.Like I was nothing."Sign it."Kaelen didn't even look at me when he said it. He was standing at the head of the long table with his arms crossed and his jaw tight and his eyes were fixed on the wall behind me. Like looking at me was too much effort. The council room was full. Every seat taken. Twelve members of the Shadow-Claw council sitting in their fancy chairs with their fancy robes watching me like I was entertainment. This might as well be Tuesday night drama for them, should have brought popcorn.Lady Voss was smiling. Of course she was. The woman hated me from the moment Kaelen brought me home. "A human Luna," she said at the wedding. She didn't even try to whisper. "How embarassing."I stared at the papers on the table. Divorce Decree. The words blurred because my eyes were wet but I blinked fast. I was NOT going to cry
