LOGINEthan POV
The sound was so loud it forced me to raise my head.
I glanced behind me for a second before turning back to my computer, ignoring whatever chaos was happening in the house—and ignoring the endless calls from Mr. Wellington.
Instead, I scrolled lazily through an endless feed of hot girls.
Jack had sent a bunch of them.
He knew my taste.
“If you need some fruit, you should beg me for it, not steal it!”
Vera’s angry voice echoed through the house.
I rolled my eyes.
A notification popped up on my phone.
Sofia Hart just agreed to show up for the party. — Jack
My lips curled into a smirk.
Of course she did.
No one ever resists me.
Just then, another sound rang out—sharp enough to make me stand.
I walked up the stairs, and right there in the hallway, I froze.
Vera was holding her cheek in shock.
And the so-called wife stood in front of her, glaring.
“Did you just hit me?” Vera asked, stunned.
“I’ll hit you again and again until I knock some sense into your bald skull,” the girl spat.
Her eyes were blazing.
Vera raised her hand again, ready to strike back.
That was when I stepped in.
“Vera, that’s enough,” I said calmly.
Both women turned to look at me.
“Did you see what she did to me?” Vera demanded, clearly humiliated.
I sighed, already tired of the drama.
“That’s enough,” I repeated.
Her jaw tightened.
Then I turned to the girl.
“Don’t you ever raise your hand at my visitor again. Do I make myself clear?” I warned.
She scoffed loudly.
“You both are crazy! If you want your fruit, here you go!”
She stormed inside and came back almost immediately.
Then she tossed the fruits straight at Vera.
“What the—!” Vera groaned as the fruit hit her.
“Have you lost your mind?!” I yelled.
The girl hissed and slammed the door so hard I thought the frame might crack.
Vera turned to me, furious and on the verge of tears.
“I hate her! I hate her so much!”
“Send her away right now!”
I didn’t even bother replying.
Instead, I walked back to the sitting room.
She followed behind me.
“Ethan!”
“She has to go!”
I picked up my laptop, not even sparing her a glance when my phone suddenly rang.
I groaned.
I already knew who it was.
Mr. Wellington.
Vera saw the caller ID and suddenly snatched the phone from my hand.
“The hell, bitch?!” I snapped.
She ignored me and answered.
“Hello, Mr. Wellington,” she said sweetly.
“You don’t know me. I’m Ethan’s girlfriend. The so-called wife isn’t welcome here. Please send her back.”
My jaw clenched.
I quickly grabbed the phone back and ended the call.
“Get out.”
My voice was low. Dark.
“Ethan, I shouldn’t be the one leaving. It should be her,” she protested.
I grabbed her wrist and dragged her to the door.
“I think I’ve been friendly enough with you. You dare touch my phone?” I said coldly.
“But Ethan, I’m doing this for you—for us. You clearly don’t want her any more than I do.”
“It’s none of your fucking business.”
I shoved her outside and slammed the door.
Silence.
I exhaled slowly and stared up the stairs.
She had to go too.
I picked up my phone again and dialed his number.
He answered almost immediately.
“Ethan Wellington, you gave your phone to some woman to talk to me?” his voice thundered.
I nearly rolled my eyes.
“I want her out of my house right now,” I said flatly.
There was a pause.
“Give yourself time to heal, boy,” he said quietly.
“Shut up, old man. If you don’t take her out of here, I’ll do it myself.”
“Ethan, don’t hurt that girl.”
I scoffed and hung up.
Don’t hurt her?
I snorted.
I was only just getting started.
I ran up the stairs and stopped outside the guest room.
Pulling out the spare key, I unlocked the door.
Then I froze.
She was curled up under a duvet.
Crying quietly.
The sight irritated me.
“Get out.”
My voice filled the room.
She slowly turned toward me.
Her eyes were red.
“Seriously?” her voice cracked.
“Yes. I want you out of my house.”
“I’m not going anywhere.”
“Don’t make me force you out myself,” I warned.
She laughed.
Then she stood up and walked toward me, still clutching the duvet.
“I think you didn’t hear me the first time,” she said, stopping right in front of me.
“I’m not going anywhere.”
Her face was a mess.
My expression stayed cold.
“You won’t leave?”
“No. I won’t.”
She was starting to irritate me.
I clenched my jaw.
“Then I’ll make you leave.”
I turned and walked out.
Back in my room, I grabbed my second phone from the bedside table.
I dialed Jack.
He answered immediately.
“What’s up, man? Please tell me Sofia texted you,” he teased.
“You craving some pussy?” I asked bluntly.
There was a pause.
“Nah, I’m not fucking Vera,” he said.
“Not that slut. A better one. Bring the boys with you. Let’s play a wild game.”
“Ohhhh, Gosh. I love you so much,” he laughed.
I ended the call.
A dirty smirk spread across my face.
“Just a little game to drive her out,” I muttered.
A few minutes later, the boys arrived.
Jack burst through the door first.
“Where is she?” he asked, scanning the house.
“Relax, bro,” I chuckled.
“Girls from you are always top tier,” he said, dropping onto the couch beside me.
The other two guys sat down more cautiously.
They weren’t as comfortable here as Jack.
“Just a little punishment to drive her insane,” I said with a smirk.
“She’s going to love it.”
“I’m going to love it too,” Sten laughed.
I chuckled.
“The guest room is yours,” I said darkly. “Have fun.”
I grabbed my computer from the center table.
“I want to work,” I added casually, “but I want to hear her scream. Okay?”
“We’re in,” Jack said immediately.
“She’s going to bring this whole building down with her screams,” Peter laughed, standing up.
I gave them a faint smirk and walked upstairs.
As I passed her door, I glanced at it briefly.
“She’s going to regret coming here,” I muttered.
Then I shut my door.
Let the fun begin.
Maya POVJust like he said, I had a million questions running through my mind, but I chose to remain silent."Have a seat, Maya," Mr. Wellington said as Josh gestured toward the couch opposite him.I sat down carefully, sinking into the soft cushion beneath me.He wheeled himself closer, then cleared his throat.Josh remained standing beside me, his expression unreadable. The atmosphere was suffocating."So, Maya..." Mr. Wellington began. "I know this might sound desperate, but I need your help."I blinked."My help?""Yes." He nodded. "The way you reacted at the hospital during Ethan's accident told me everything. You protected him. You fought for him. You even challenged me."A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips."I liked that."I shifted uneasily but kept my composure."I want you to help Ethan return to his rightful position, and I need it done as soon as possible. I don't know if your relationship with my grandson has blossomed simply because he's still allowing you sta
Day 8Maya POVI stirred in my sleep before letting out a loud yawn as I sat up in bed.My eyes were still heavy with sleep. I blinked several times, glancing around the room until the world finally came into focus. Then my mind drifted back to yesterday. My hands flew to my mouth as warmth spread through my body. My stomach fluttered with excitement as I remembered how Ethan had carried me back here.He had personally helped me into bed.He had cleaned my feet, applied ointment to my injuries, and even slipped these adorable socks onto them.My gaze dropped to the soft socks covering my feet. They were warm... comforting.Even the clothes I was wearing were thick and cozy.I don't know what I'm feeling...But maybe Ethan isn't as bad as I thought.Maybe he's a blessing disguised as the devil. It's only been eight days since this marriage began, yet somehow... I've started enjoying being around him. What am I even thinking?I sighed and climbed out of bed.I don't have time to think a
I ran. Like my life depended on it. Because it did. Andre was my life. My soles hurt like hell, and my whole body felt numb. I knew there was no way I could get there on foot, so I quickly waved down the nearest taxi. My lungs were screaming. I fell into the backseat, panting hard. "Where to, ma'am?" he asked. "Evergreen Community Hospital," I said in a hurry. He started the car and drove off. My legs kept shaking rapidly. Nothing in my body seemed to be working properly except the sweat that kept pouring out of me. My breathing was ragged from the run. My chest hurt, and even my stomach felt tight. But none of that mattered. The only thing that mattered now was getting to Andre before Doris got there. After what felt like an eternity—forty agonizing minutes—the driver pulled up at the hospital. Without hesitation, I threw the car door open and dashed out. "Hey! Where's my money?" "Hey! Lady!" The driver shouted after me, but I didn't pay him any attention. I ran into t
Ethan’s POV I scoffed as I fell on my bed. Him? The word kept replaying in my head over and over again. I shouldn’t care, but somehow seeing her in that position for another man tightened something in my chest. She was literally crying for him. I rolled my eyes and picked up my phone beside me. I opened I*******m and started scrolling through Sofia Hart’s feed. She had posted new hot pictures. A smug smile appeared on my face. Maybe having a night with her will finally get my head working properly again. I quickly sent a sticker to Zack. He responded almost immediately with a call. I smiled, then picked up. “Yoo, Ethan!” he exclaimed. “How’s it going, Zack?” “I missed you, man,” he blurted. I almost slapped myself. “Missed me? Zack, I’m not gay.” “This isn’t about being gay. I kinda heard about your accident. It was supposed to be a private thing so I didn’t tell anyone,” he said. “I’m coming over right now,” he added, and I heard his footsteps and a door unlocking. “N
Maya POVThe ride to his house was oddly quiet—and a little suspicious. I shouldn’t have followed him home. But that one text from Doctor Harry changed everything.I picked up my phone and read the message over and over. Excitement and sadness tangled in my stomach. I don’t know if I should be happy that Andre’s finger moved, or scared that Doctor Harry will demand another payment sooner than expected. I really don’t know. That’s why I can’t quit now. I need to do this. Andre’s health depends on it. The thought alone sent a shiver down my spine. My mind slipped back to Audrey and James. Do I really need to see her? For what reason? How can someone who looks like she doesn’t even understand anything anymore help me make the man she once loved… love me?Jeez. Does that even sound right? Honestly, it sounds cuckoo to my ears. There must be a reason James is so bent on me seeing her. I don’t think it’s about changing Ethan—because that doesn’t sound right at all.I glanced at Ethan
Chloe's POVI stared at this joke in disbelief."Wait, Liam, I still don't understand what you're saying. You mean you couldn't get rid of Vera?" I asked, irritation evident in my voice. He sighed and took another sip of the wine I had served him earlier.I had invited him over today expecting nothing but good news.Instead, he had come here spouting nonsense about knowing who Vera was."Liam!" I called. He sighed again and stood up."Relax, Chloe. Like I said before, I'm done with that life. Besides, Vera is my person. I still need her. But I promise you, she won't bother you again."His relaxed demeanor only fueled my anger."Liam?!" I screamed. He sighed."I'm sorry, Chloe, but this is one thing I can't do for you."He patted my shoulder lightly before walking out.I stood frozen in shock. What the actual hell? Was this some kind of joke?Who exactly was Vera that Liam Beckham couldn't simply eliminate her?He had never rejected any of my requests before.Never.This was new.I swa
Maya POV“Ms. Rivers, there’s nothing more we can do without a full payment. He’s hanging by a thread. If you really want to save him, you have to do what’s necessary.” Doctor Harry said.I swallowed hard, the salt from my tears stinging my lips. “Please, Doctor. I’m working three jobs. I’m trying
Day 1,Maya POVThe noise was too much.I woke up with a banging headache, groaning as I forced my eyes open.“Arrggh… what is that?” I muttered. My gaze slowly moved to the clock standing opposite the bed.9:17 AM.What?I slept till the next day?I guess I was really that tired.I tried getting o
Maya POVI stood in front of the full-length mirror as a team of stylists pinned jewels into my hair and tightened the corset of my gown. The silk was heavy, and the diamonds were blinding. My reflection stared back at me, expressionless. The only image in my mind was Andre lying on that hospital b
Maya POV“Marriage?” I asked, just to be sure as the word tasted like lead in my mouth.“It’s quite simple, Ms. Rivers. Marry him, stay for one hundred days, and $10 million is yours,” the old man said, his voice as calm as if he were discussing the weather.I stared at this old man in front of me.
