LOGINMaya POV
I stood in front of the full-length mirror as a team of stylists pinned jewels into my hair and tightened the corset of my gown. The silk was heavy, and the diamonds were blinding.
My reflection stared back at me, expressionless.
The only image in my mind was Andre lying on that hospital bed.
I looked beautiful. Perfect, even.
Yet happiness felt miles away.
My eyes were empty.
“We’re done, ma’am,” one of the dressers said, flashing me a warm, pitying smile.
I nodded faintly as they walked me out to the grand hall, where the old man and the kind man from earlier were waiting.
Hmm.
So he works for the Wellingtons.
A third man stood with them — probably the grandson I was supposed to marry. But he looked older than I expected.
Not that I cared.
As long as Andre was saved.
The old man’s face brightened the moment he saw me. “You look stunning, my dear.”
“Thank you, sir.” I replied, my voice sounding hollow.
He handed me a leather file. “Sign here as the official wife of Ethan Wellington.”
I took it and read.
A marriage certificate.
My gaze fell on the signature already there.
Ethan Wellington.
I inhaled slowly… then signed my name next to his.
One last breath.
I handed it back.
“There,” he said cheerfully. “That wasn’t so bad, was it?”
I forced a fake smile.
He passed the file to the supposed grandson, who bowed slightly and pulled out a camera.
Wait.
If that’s not Ethan… then where is he?
My eyes drifted to the kind man.
He’d been strangely quiet.
Could he be Ethan?
“Ethan couldn’t be here,” the old man said casually, noticing my confused expression. “He's a busy man. I hope you understand.”
Relief slipped through me.
Then—
Wait.
How could he not attend his own wedding?
But… was this even a wedding?
We took a few more photos to "prove" the ceremony happened, and that was it.
No vows. No rings. Nothing.
As I turned to leave, the kind man caught my eye. He leaned in, his voice low.
“Good luck on your marriage, Ms. Rivers. I hope you remain strong till your last day.” He tapped me on the back—a gesture that felt more like a warning than a blessing—and walked away.
I froze.
Until my last day?
What does that mean?
Mr. Wellington touched my shoulder. “I’ve assigned a driver to you, Mr. Josh. He will take you to your new home.” He leaned closer, his eyes turning sad. “Please, try to make your husband happy.”
With those cryptic words, he disappeared with his guards.
So.
I’m officially married.
Yay for me.
The driver led me to a car, and we rode in silence for what felt like forever.
Eventually, we stopped in front of another estate — smaller than the first, but still massive.
And the description was written boldly above the gate: "Wellington Crest"
He opened the door of car and I stepped out, still in my wedding dress, I followed him inside.
At the entrance, he bowed slightly… and left.
I blinked.
What am I supposed to do now?
I tried the doorbell.
Nothing.
I knocked.
No answer.
I knocked the second time.
Still no answer.
Then I twisted the handle.
And it opened.
“Wow…” slipped from my lips.
The interior was even more breathtaking.
Was this a house or paradise?
I stepped in slowly, closing the door behind me, eyes roaming across the luxurious space.
Then—
“WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!”
I nearly jumped out of my skin.
A man descended the stairs.
The moment I saw him, I knew.
That’s Ethan.
The air seemed to leave the room. He was the most beautiful man I had ever seen—sharp jawline, eyes like stormy seas.
“Are you deaf?” he snapped the moment he got close.
“I—I… uhm…” I stammered.
His gaze dropped to my gown.
He scoffed. “Another desperate one. Congratulations to me.”
He rolled his eyes and walked past.
I stood frozen.
Another… what?
Has he been married before?
What kind of marriage is this?
My phone buzzed.
I checked it.
My breath caught.
$1,000,000 credited.
This was real.
But…
Am I really going to live with him?
Someone who didn’t even show up to his own wedding?
Footsteps sounded again.
“That old man never gives up,” he muttered.
He glanced at me. "You can save yourself the stress and leave now... or stay and break like the others."
A mocking smile flickered across his lips before he walked upstairs.
Break like the others?
What have I gotten myself into?
I stared at the money notification again.
This is why I’m here.
Andre.
I’m doing this for you.
I exhaled and followed him upstairs, catching him just before he entered a room.
“Um… could you show me my room?” I asked boldly.
He glared at me and scoffed. "Get out of my house, woman. I'm getting sick of this. If you don't want your days here to be a torment, just get the fuck out," he growled.
"No" – the word came out of my mouth before I even stopped it.
"No?" He raised a brow.
"I'm staying," I whispered.
"Fine," he snapped, slamming his door shut. "Don't say I didn't warn you."
I stood there, trying to process what was really going on.
How had I gotten married to someone who doesn't want me here... that old man wouldn't just tell me anything.
Swallowing the lump in my throat, I turned and spotted a room down the hallway.
I pushed it open.
It was beautiful — twice the size of my tiny apartment.
Honestly, I didn’t care where I slept.
I’d already been polite enough to ask.
I collapsed onto the bed, then quickly got up and unzipped the gown, letting it fall to the floor before climbing back in and pulling the duvet over myself.
I was exhausted and confused.
But also…
A little happy.
I had a million dollars now.
Andre, things will only get better from here.
I smiled faintly.
My eyes closed.
Just a short nap…
My body had no strength left.
My thoughts drifted back to him — but I pushed them away.
Please… whoever is listening in heaven,
guide me through these 100 days.
And keep Andre alive.
Tears slipped down my cheeks as sleep finally claimed me.
Maya POVJust like he said, I had a million questions running through my mind, but I chose to remain silent."Have a seat, Maya," Mr. Wellington said as Josh gestured toward the couch opposite him.I sat down carefully, sinking into the soft cushion beneath me.He wheeled himself closer, then cleared his throat.Josh remained standing beside me, his expression unreadable. The atmosphere was suffocating."So, Maya..." Mr. Wellington began. "I know this might sound desperate, but I need your help."I blinked."My help?""Yes." He nodded. "The way you reacted at the hospital during Ethan's accident told me everything. You protected him. You fought for him. You even challenged me."A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips."I liked that."I shifted uneasily but kept my composure."I want you to help Ethan return to his rightful position, and I need it done as soon as possible. I don't know if your relationship with my grandson has blossomed simply because he's still allowing you sta
Day 8Maya POVI stirred in my sleep before letting out a loud yawn as I sat up in bed.My eyes were still heavy with sleep. I blinked several times, glancing around the room until the world finally came into focus. Then my mind drifted back to yesterday. My hands flew to my mouth as warmth spread through my body. My stomach fluttered with excitement as I remembered how Ethan had carried me back here.He had personally helped me into bed.He had cleaned my feet, applied ointment to my injuries, and even slipped these adorable socks onto them.My gaze dropped to the soft socks covering my feet. They were warm... comforting.Even the clothes I was wearing were thick and cozy.I don't know what I'm feeling...But maybe Ethan isn't as bad as I thought.Maybe he's a blessing disguised as the devil. It's only been eight days since this marriage began, yet somehow... I've started enjoying being around him. What am I even thinking?I sighed and climbed out of bed.I don't have time to think a
I ran. Like my life depended on it. Because it did. Andre was my life. My soles hurt like hell, and my whole body felt numb. I knew there was no way I could get there on foot, so I quickly waved down the nearest taxi. My lungs were screaming. I fell into the backseat, panting hard. "Where to, ma'am?" he asked. "Evergreen Community Hospital," I said in a hurry. He started the car and drove off. My legs kept shaking rapidly. Nothing in my body seemed to be working properly except the sweat that kept pouring out of me. My breathing was ragged from the run. My chest hurt, and even my stomach felt tight. But none of that mattered. The only thing that mattered now was getting to Andre before Doris got there. After what felt like an eternity—forty agonizing minutes—the driver pulled up at the hospital. Without hesitation, I threw the car door open and dashed out. "Hey! Where's my money?" "Hey! Lady!" The driver shouted after me, but I didn't pay him any attention. I ran into t
Ethan’s POV I scoffed as I fell on my bed. Him? The word kept replaying in my head over and over again. I shouldn’t care, but somehow seeing her in that position for another man tightened something in my chest. She was literally crying for him. I rolled my eyes and picked up my phone beside me. I opened I*******m and started scrolling through Sofia Hart’s feed. She had posted new hot pictures. A smug smile appeared on my face. Maybe having a night with her will finally get my head working properly again. I quickly sent a sticker to Zack. He responded almost immediately with a call. I smiled, then picked up. “Yoo, Ethan!” he exclaimed. “How’s it going, Zack?” “I missed you, man,” he blurted. I almost slapped myself. “Missed me? Zack, I’m not gay.” “This isn’t about being gay. I kinda heard about your accident. It was supposed to be a private thing so I didn’t tell anyone,” he said. “I’m coming over right now,” he added, and I heard his footsteps and a door unlocking. “N
Maya POVThe ride to his house was oddly quiet—and a little suspicious. I shouldn’t have followed him home. But that one text from Doctor Harry changed everything.I picked up my phone and read the message over and over. Excitement and sadness tangled in my stomach. I don’t know if I should be happy that Andre’s finger moved, or scared that Doctor Harry will demand another payment sooner than expected. I really don’t know. That’s why I can’t quit now. I need to do this. Andre’s health depends on it. The thought alone sent a shiver down my spine. My mind slipped back to Audrey and James. Do I really need to see her? For what reason? How can someone who looks like she doesn’t even understand anything anymore help me make the man she once loved… love me?Jeez. Does that even sound right? Honestly, it sounds cuckoo to my ears. There must be a reason James is so bent on me seeing her. I don’t think it’s about changing Ethan—because that doesn’t sound right at all.I glanced at Ethan
Chloe's POVI stared at this joke in disbelief."Wait, Liam, I still don't understand what you're saying. You mean you couldn't get rid of Vera?" I asked, irritation evident in my voice. He sighed and took another sip of the wine I had served him earlier.I had invited him over today expecting nothing but good news.Instead, he had come here spouting nonsense about knowing who Vera was."Liam!" I called. He sighed again and stood up."Relax, Chloe. Like I said before, I'm done with that life. Besides, Vera is my person. I still need her. But I promise you, she won't bother you again."His relaxed demeanor only fueled my anger."Liam?!" I screamed. He sighed."I'm sorry, Chloe, but this is one thing I can't do for you."He patted my shoulder lightly before walking out.I stood frozen in shock. What the actual hell? Was this some kind of joke?Who exactly was Vera that Liam Beckham couldn't simply eliminate her?He had never rejected any of my requests before.Never.This was new.I swa
Ethan POVThe sound was so loud it forced me to raise my head.I glanced behind me for a second before turning back to my computer, ignoring whatever chaos was happening in the house—and ignoring the endless calls from Mr. Wellington.Instead, I scrolled lazily through an endless feed of hot girls.
Day 1,Maya POVThe noise was too much.I woke up with a banging headache, groaning as I forced my eyes open.“Arrggh… what is that?” I muttered. My gaze slowly moved to the clock standing opposite the bed.9:17 AM.What?I slept till the next day?I guess I was really that tired.I tried getting o
Maya POV“Marriage?” I asked, just to be sure as the word tasted like lead in my mouth.“It’s quite simple, Ms. Rivers. Marry him, stay for one hundred days, and $10 million is yours,” the old man said, his voice as calm as if he were discussing the weather.I stared at this old man in front of me.
Maya POV“Ms. Rivers, there’s nothing more we can do without a full payment. He’s hanging by a thread. If you really want to save him, you have to do what’s necessary.” Doctor Harry said.I swallowed hard, the salt from my tears stinging my lips. “Please, Doctor. I’m working three jobs. I’m trying
