Chapter 9: Let The Game Starts

Having to eat breakfast with my parents was a rare thing to happen. It felt odd, given the fact that I barely see them around in the morning. I was used to waking up with them not being around and, suddenly, sitting in front of them was unsettling.

I held the spoon tight in my hand and dug it to my oatmeal. I bowed my head, not bothering to peer at them through my lashes.

"How's school?" Dad asked, as I almost jerked by his sudden budge.

Gulping, I sat upright and reached for the glass of water. I drank it down my throat, as I stared at Lindsey who was now ready to boast.

"I made quite a good impression," she said, plastering a grin.

I snickered, hiding my face away so my parents wouldn't notice. Lightly shaking my head, I leaned my back against the chair and cleared my throat.

"How about you, Kourtney?" Mom asked as she looked at me expectantly.
