Chapter 16: Our Bond

She was the purest kid I had ever encountered, and her little giggles were like a melody in my ears. Children rarely approached me, never had this moment ever struck my mind. And I was caught off guard when she suddenly appeared. It made me feel special. But nevertheless, this was the most adorable thing.

When I was about to lift the toddler up, I woman called from behind, shaking me out of my thoughts.

"Dorris," she called, worry filled her tone.

She immediately went beside us, and I flitted my eyes up before I stood. The woman, who I think was the mother, lifted the toddler up and embraced her tight. Her gaze landed to me, plastering a look of appreciation as her eyes glimmered.

"Your daughter is the most adorable kid I've ever met," I complimented, a huge grin crept across my face.

"Thank you so much. She's randomly talking to strangers and I'm glad she's not hurt." She rocked the toddl
