Chapter 3 : Flashes

After sending both of her twin brothers to kindergarten, Rosa went to town to do some grocery shopping for home. The sun was shining, the air was slightly cool and everyone greeted her and she to them seeing they all knew her family and grew up with her in that small town.

Payment came a bit early this month since her mother’s medicine needs to be restocked and her boss was kind enough to provide her with that. It’s hard these days to find a boss that is willing to provide so much to his or her employee and Ben and his wife did just that for Rosa.

She enters a grocery store and start picking out fresh ingredients and  few chicken thighs so she would be able to make crispy roasted thigh with beautiful gravy and fresh veggies. It’s not always they would be able to enjoy such hearty meal but seeing she did bring some extra cash with her, she thought that it would be nice for the family to eat good today.

Leaving the store, her eyes perks up as it turns to look at the Town Hall which is just a few mile away from her. It was the tallest building standing in the middle of the small town and there were men in suits, all wearing shades and a few expensive cars was parked near there.

Is this the people that Clara was talking about?

Looks like their boss is in the buildings with the way these people are guarding the entrance but what seems to look odd was the fact that all these men are all covered up from their hand to their legs and not a finger or a toe at sight.

All holds an umbrella each, shadowing their face in which Clara notice was so fair that they were almost white. 

They must’ve come from the coldest part of Europe. It's like they hated the sun so much, not even an inch of skin was exposed. 

Rosa’s vision was suddenly blocked when a tall, large and burly figure came in front of her and she took a step back. Her lips were open in surprised.

“Eli.” She responded after staring clearly at his face and Eli Valderrama grin at her and his arms which he folds on his chest makes him look bigger and slight intimidating. He had thick shaggy hair with grey streaks on the left side.

His hairy chest peeks out of his unbutton T-shirt and his jeans helps to tucked in his shirt. His beard were slightly messy and his dark brown eyes was staring at her piercingly.

She looks past his left side and notice his boys, his employees waiting at his truck. All grinning at their boss currently standing near Rosa and trying to flex his arms.

“What are you doing here, Eli? Why aren’t you at your shop?” She refers to Eli weaponry  where he sells guns and any tools that people would need for deer or duck  hunting since its every popular at these parts of town.

They have huge acres of land that is still untouched and men in town would go there to hunt not only for bucks but big birds as well. Eli is one of them and he has been doing it since he was young.

That was one of the thing that made her scared of him. His ability to kill innocent animals without remorse and for fun made it impossible for Rosa to accept his proposal.

“I’m the boss remember? I have people taking care of it. How about you, sugar? You waking up this early and not telling me you’re here? I would’ve bring you out myself. Finish sending the twins to school?”

Rosa smiled awkwardly, “Yeah. I’m about to go home now so… if you’ll excuse me…”

“No, no, no. Where are you going? I was about to bring you to lunch, sugar. Right after I dropped off the boys at Uncle Sam’s house. His son having a birthday party tonight. They are helping him and once I’m done, we can go grab some drink. You know, I’m still waiting for your reply in regards to the proposal. I’m not one to give up on the girl who have my heart, sugar.”

Rosa smiled sarcastically and crossed her arms. “I’m sure you say the same thing to two of your ex-wife before.”

Eli move closer towards her until she backed away and her back hits the wall behind her. Eli placed both of his hands on either side of her body. His face becomes closer to her and she swallowed deeply as concern takes over her whole body.

“Listen here, sugar. Those woman have nothing over you. You are special. Beautiful. Always have, always been. If you think that I only want you for a short period of time, then you are deadly wrong, sugar. Trust me when I say you’ll be the only one in my life. Sure, maybe one day I might show that love to our daughter if we are blessed with one but you, my darling will be it for the rest of my life. I have everything you could ever asked for in a husband, sugar. I can get you out of that filth of a life with a snap of my finger. What do you have to lose?”

Everything, she whispered to herself. Gaston of Beauty and the Beast much? The arrogance, the pride he held high as if he was a great catch never ceases to amaze Rosa. She could definitely imagine a life with him.

Horror. Pure unimaginable horror. None of his ex-wife stays in Vacherie anymore. If he that great, why didn’t his marriage last? 

“I appreciate your offer, Eli but all I want to now is to take care of my family, getting our life stable all on my own and making sure I’ll be able to maintain all that. You understand, do you? After all, I’m only 19 and the topics of marriage is just too much for me. I'm sure you can wait?” She decides to speak in a softer tone and smile sweetly at him seeing no one was around and a part of her was terrified of the things he could do to her.

The crazy looks in his eyes was gut wrenching and all she wants to do now is go home.

Her gesture seems to works when Eli's reaction softens and he was about to reply to her when one of his employee hit the car horn repeatedly.

“Come on, boss! We’ll be late. Set your date on some other time. We have shit to do after this too.”

Eli looks very annoyed but he nodded and smile back at Rosa.

“Of course I’ll wait for you, sugar. Like those saying, good things come to those who wait. Just for you Rosaliyah but know this, my patience has its limit. No one will have you but me, got it?”

He took her hand, raised the back of her hand to his lips and kiss it. She almost gagged from his gesture. She didn’t like him at all. When he walks to his truck, he spoke something to his employees and they all laugh, cheered and gave him a high five. Later, they all turn their gaze at her and whistle loudly. 

Her cheek was red and she was annoyed. She walks away from them but still she can hear them cheering at her. Her eyes becomes red as tears was threatening to fall from her eye lids. She looks up, eyes blurry and almost  struggle to see where she was going until she stops in her tracks. 

When she rubs her eyes, she felt a car driving past her, a few of them actually and each one of them are the same BMW and in black color. The same set of cars parked near the town hall. None of the car presences affected her until she felt a sharp gaze trained at her from the side.

She turned her head to stare at the BMW but the window to the one that passed by her suddenly raised up rather quickly and the only thing she could see was flashes of piercing blue eyes staring at her through the dark tinted window.

How was it possible? She had no idea. But a small aching, almost tingly but very satisfying made her whole body shivers when the car was near her. 

It felt...good.

He can feel her presence as he passed by her earlier. Her sweet scent was unbearable and if it wasn't for the first reason why he had come to the small town in the first place, he would've stop the car and take her away.

Just like in the dream, she was so beautiful and every part of her scream of innocence which draws her to him like a prey. How he years to ravage her, want to show her what nature intended a man and woman do together. Her soft screams, hand scrunching the sheets and no doubt the first night, he will have her blood on his...

He growled in frustration. No, thinking about all of this is not good for him. It will only make the demon in him feeling unrest and rabid. Once his official matters is done, he will come to her and no matter what happens, he will be leaving this  place with his woman by his side. The only matters to resolved now is finding out what her name is...
