Emma Jean looked in the rearview mirror to see his head disappeared. She got concerned and was about to get out of the car when he stood back up. She placed her hand to her chest and breathed. When he got in the car, she turned to him. “You nearly gave me a heart attack?”

He looked puzzled for a moment then realized what she was referring to. “I didn’t disappear or felt ill. Just needed to tie my shoes is all. Is this your way of saying you love me more than air?”

She turned away from him, folding her arms over her chest. “I didn’t say that.”

“You’re so cute when you pout.”

“You'll be cute with a swollen lip?”

Kenji started the car.  And sounded overly cheerful. “Does that mean your going to kiss me until they are swollen from your love?”

Emma Jean couldn’t say anything back after that. She just decided to be quiet and enjoy the ride.
