Chapter 11. Short fuses

XIMENA

“Luna de la Trinidad.” I mumble softly as I see her eyes, they look like glowing marbles with swirls of amber and emerald in them and the power I feel from her wolf is something else entirely.

“Nah, that can’t be.” I think to myself. That was just a bedtime story mom and dad used to tell us back in Costa Rica. Though this young woman, she feels powerful. Not like me, different, more ancient. “We have to find out more.” Xesara says. She’s more in awe with her wolf than anything else. “I know.” I tell her and focus on Adriana again.

“I’m sorry, Luna la what?” She asks inquisitively. “No it’s nothing. Go celebrate with your team.” I say as I usher her away. She stares at me, searching me for something of an explanation. When she realizes she won’t get any she turns around and reunites with her team that is exhilarated with their win.
