Bridgette’s voice had been subdued. He knew it must have been hard to hear her aunt talk like that. He couldn’t help but wonder just how many times she used that excuse to get what she wanted. People in this town were genuinely nice people and often felt pity for widows or people that lost their loved ones. He glared at Ginny in disgust but felt compelled to agree with Bridgette. His code was not something that he would sacrifice on someone like Ginny, though the woman tried his patience unlike any other. 

When Bridgette returned she seemed calmer. In fact her eyes seemed brighter and  she seemed lighter  than before.
