CHARLOTTE POV

Scarlett passes me a small box wrapped in a rose-coloured ribbon. I open the box to find a beautiful hairpin made up of blood-red and gold stones. She lifts her wrist, showing me the birthday gift Nathaniel gave her. It means this piece goes with the bracelet she has and the amulet that Nathaniel has. I smile, lean over, and give her a kiss. I also give Phoenix a quick kiss as well, only to hear a low growl from Scarlett.

I smile and laugh. "Don't worry, sis, he is all yours!"

I leave their room and head to mine, thinking that it was good to hear her growl. Maybe that means that Ruth might surface soon. Once I get to my room, I shower and I get ready for the party. When I am almost ready, there is a light knock on the door.
