SEVENTY

Malvika pulled her bag and luggage after her, walking out of the airport. She had no idea what to do or where she was going. But she knew she couldn't go back to New York. Not anymore. She could never call her sisters again, at least not for a long while. She had blocked their numbers and even blocked them on all of her social media including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. She was starting a new life. Maybe after a while, when she had settled down, she would finally call them to apologize. She would tell them that it needed to be done and that she had no choice. But for now, all she could do was ghost them.

Standing by the side of a road, she waved her hands to flag down an empty cab and the driver parked beside her. "Hi. Can you just take me to the nearest hotel?" she asked.

He frowned at her unusual request.

"I'm sorry. I'm new to Florida and I don't really know anywhere here. So, could you help me out. Just drop me at the nearest hotel, please, thank you."
