29 - The familiar face

Tanya's mood dulled the moment she received the invitation. Her only mistake was receiving a call on speaker mode when her mother was there. It was too late to switch it from the speaker mode because her mother had developed an interest in her conversation on the phone. Ever since moving into the luxury 3 bedroom estate house, her mother's behaviour towards her had changed drastically. Tanya was now the breadwinner of the family and upon finding out where she kept her money, her mother would go for it without permission. Once Tanya complained, "mum, I'm saving up for school." She was polite, not wanting to stir her mothers' anger.

Her mum was impressed, her voice carrying warmth but her words slashed Tanya's heart. "Why go to school when you already have a job which pays a lot? Aren't you going to school to get a job and make money? You already have both. No need for school."
