20: The dew

Kayla's POV

I had a terrible nightmare, it was that same nightmare, the one I could never bring myself to remember. When I woke up from this nightmare, the woman whom I believed to be the mother of the girls was sitting beside me and holding my hand in hers.

“ Breathe, just breathe.” She said in a soothing voice and just like that my fears and worries subsided. I lay down on the bed quietly, breathing easily now that she calmed me down, quite like how Ciara used to in Redwolf.

“ Thank you,” I said simply. I sat down and folded up my legs before wrapping my arms around them and resting my head on my knees.

She was watching me but she said nothing. I eventually looked at her and she seemed to have caught herself staring.

“ Kayla right?”

I nodded while she sighed and moved closer to me. “ I’m Theresa, Hector’s guardian.” She said. I was surprised, he never mentioned her, not even once. Yet I got the feeling that she must be someone important to him.
