Lilliana Masters is the runt of the pack, calling her a runt would not be doing her justice, she’s barely a wolf. After a pack war kills her family and sends her wolf self into hiding deep within her. At the young age of ten, Lilliana is left with nothing but the hope that her pack- the Waning Moon Pack will continue to be her family. That hope is destroyed by the actions of those she thought were her people. The Waning Moon pack blames the little Lilliana for the death of her family who were the pack’s beta and head healer. Harboring resentment against her, they bully and treat her like a slave for years on end. Another war is on the horizon with the Blood Fang pack- the most powerful pack there is, and during a raid, they kidnap her. Now in the Blood Fang pack, Lilliana must navigate new pack politics and must come to terms with the fact that she is no longer a slave. She begins her journey of self-discovery and begins to navigate the feelings she seems to have for the Alpha of the Blood Moon pack- Killian Thorne and survive a war that looms on the horizon.
View MoreThe breeze felt warm against my skin as I ran through the woods, my brother close behind, racing after me. I giggled and hid behind a tree, peeking out to watch as his head whipped around in search of me.
“Lilli, where are you?” He called out laughing and out of breath. I quickly ducked behind the tree, covering my mouth to hide my laughter. I had to be careful that he did not find me, or I’d lose the game. “Boo!” He cried out from beside me, “Found ya!” “Aah!” I cried out, jumping in shock, “Hey, no fair, you cheated. We said no wolf senses.” “I didn’t cheat Lilli,” He responded ruffling my hair, “You’re just terrible at hiding.” I poked my tongue out at him, and he grabbed me, whirling me around. “No! Stop! Stop!” I screamed giggling as the wind whipped around me as he twirled me faster and faster. “Please, I’m going to puke.” I pleaded. He placed me down softly on the ground, holding me as the world spun around me in a dizzy haze. After a bit, things felt stable again. “You ok now, Wolfy?” He asked, kneeling, to look at me. I nodded my head meekly, and taking my hand, we walked back towards our house. Our place was a very large cabin, and as we approached, I could smell Mum’s cooking. Releasing my brother, I raced into the kitchen to join her. “Lilli love, you’re here finally. You guys almost missed dinner.” She said as she wrapped me in her arms squeezing me tightly. “Matt and I were playing hide and seek. I lost again.” I replied my voice muffled against her. She drew back, holding me at arm’s length, then she smiled at me, her grey eyes crinkling with love and warmth. She let out a soft giggle, then said, “Oh, Lilli, honey, you know that’s the one game you can never beat your brother at. Why don’t you two ever play anything different? Like video games?” “His games are too much for me to know, Mama.” I responded pouting, “And he was the one who said he wouldn’t use his wolf this time. He lied.” “I didn’t use my wolf.” Matt said entering the kitchen arms full with wood, our father was close behind him also holding wood, “You’re just really terrible at hiding.” They made their way to the fireplace, arranging the wood beside it. “I am not,” I said annoyed. “You are too.” He responded in a teasing tone. “Mum! Dad! Matt’s being mean again.” “Matt stop making fun of your sister,” Dad said as he walked towards me, carrying me. “Hey my little princess, don’t mind your brother, he was only teasing.” I gave a wide grin and snuggled closer to him. “Alright, everyone, dinner’s ready,” Mum called out, and we all trooped to the kitchen to have steak and mashed potatoes. We were a family of wolf shifters belonging to a pack called the Waning Moon pack, and due to my mother being the head healer our house was on the outskirts of the pack, closer to the woods so she could easily grow and gather herbs. Father was the second in command, the beta, and the Alpha’s best friend. My brother was currently training to be a pack warrior and I spent my days in school learning about the pack and the outside world. Tonight was peaceful and all felt right in the world, or so I thought. My father was the first to notice and he alerted my mother using the mind link. Frantic my mother turned to us. “Ok, Lilli, I need you to stay inside with your brother, ok?” Then she turned to Matt, “Stay here, protect your sister and protect yourself.” Then she ran out of the house with dad on her heels giving me no time to question what was wrong. I turned to my brother, eyes wide in fear. “Matt? What’s going on?” “Whatever it is, Mom and Dad will handle it. Help me clear the dishes.” He responded with fake calm. I jumped down from the chair and started to pack the plates up, yet I could not shake the feeling that something was wrong. So I dropped the plates in the sink and ran out of the house after my parents. “Lilli? Lilli no!” Matt called out after me, “Get back here!” He started after me. I ran with all the strength my small body could muster and I found my parents in a clearing in the woods fighting a pack of rogue wolves. They had shifted to their wolf form and were biting, clawing, and jumping at the rogues. A wolf was trying to sneak up on Dad, and I cried out, “Dad, watch out!” The shock of hearing my voice distracted him, and he looked at me in surprise. The wolf took it as an opportunity and went for his throat, biting deeply and making him bleed out. Dad’s wolf whimpered weakly, trying to fight against the wolf, but he was losing too much blood, and soon he stopped moving. The wolf released his body and started walking towards me; I walked back my legs shaking in fear. “Dad! Mom! Help me!” I cried out to my parents, refusing to believe Dad was dead. Mom looked at me and tried to run towards me, but she got overpowered and the wolves tore at her limbs. I tripped on a branch and fell. The wolf was now looming over me, its fangs red with my father’s blood. A gunshot echoed through the woods and the wolf’s head exploded, splattering blood over me. I let out a scream, turning to where it came from- it was my brother with a shotgun. He ran towards me, grabbing me roughly by the arm. “I told you not to leave. Where are Mom and Dad?” He asked then his eyes turned to the wolves who were watching us like we were prey. He saw our dad’s body lying on the floor and our mom’s body ripped to pieces. I saw his eyes widen in horror at the sight of them then turn to the wolves who were closer now. “Lilli.” He said to me, “Run, go get help. Run! Lilli Run!” He yelled and this time I obeyed him. I ran my lungs hot and burning till I reached the pack, but things weren’t faring so much there either. People were gathering bodies and stacking them to be burned, and injured wolves were heading towards the pack house. Then I saw Alpha Richard and I ran to him. “Lilli, good you’re here, please go get your mother.” He said not noticing my bloody self. “Rogues attacked us, Matt told me to run, so I came here,” I responded breathlessly. Alpha Richard was quick, he carried me and had me direct him to where it happened. Together with a group of uninjured pack members, we ran back to the woods but it was too late. I was too late. I saw my brother’s headless body arranged next to the corpses of my parents and I screamed at the top of my lungs.KILLIAN’S POVIt had been a year already. A year away from my pack, my home, but finally coming home.I watched through the window as the plane flew across the ocean. I never liked travelling. I detested it with a passion. Yet it was something I had to do repeatedly as an Alpha. It was an exhausting thing.“Penny for your thoughts?” Clarke said next to me, as he took a sip of his drink.I chuckled darkly, “You'd need more than a penny for the thoughts going through my mind.” I said in reply.“Ah, so dollar then.” He said with a chuckle.“Hmm. How hilarious.” I said dryly.“But really, though, Killian, what's bothering you. I can feel you thinking.” He said.“I'm worried about the state of things when we get back.” I admitted, “There have been attacks.”“Yes, by rogues and the warriors handled them before they did any real damage.”“I know that, but rogues never once dared to attack us, plus the reports they sent said they always ran away before any one of them could get seriously hurt
SARAH'S POV“I'll meet you over at Camille’s stand,” I told Lilliana.“Are you sure?”, she asked, “I don't mind waiting.”“No, I want to look around a bit more, but I don't want her there too long. So go be with her. I'll be there soon.”She nodded, waved, and walked off to join Camille. I stood back, eyes looking around at the various tent-like stands that were around me. One in particular caught my eye- it sold trinkets and such. I approached it eagerly. “Well, I see you have a great eye.” The person there said.“Really? I just thought it looked pretty.” It was a silver wolf-shaped hairpin with red jewels for its eyes.“A pretty pin for a pretty wolf.” he grinned at me.“How much for it?” I asked.“Hmm, it's only 15 but for you, I'll accept 10.” He said.“10? That's nice of you. Thank you.” I reached into my purse and eagerly brought out the money.“Don’t worry. I got this.” A familiar voice said from behind me and I froze instantly recognizing it. I would recognize that voice anyw
CAMILLE’S POVNervous was not enough to describe how I was feeling. It felt like someone had me tied down with a bucket of rats over my stomach, lit the bucket on fire and the rats had no way to escape except through my stomach. Yeah, that was a better description than nervous. Mr. Vince was perusing the artwork that I had selected to display for the art fair.“These are all splendid, yes splendid works.” He smiled, “I don’t think I can pick just anyone, so why don’t we just display all of them?”“A- all of them?” I repeated, “I don’t know if they are all good enough to all be displayed. What if people don't like them?” My anxiety was showing again. That distinct fear that what I did was not enough, that I wasn't enough. It seemed so ridiculous really. I mean here was my teacher, assuring me that my work was great, that it was what people wanted to see. Yet I could not seem to quiet the voice at the back of my head telling me that I would never be enough, that nothing I did would eve
SIX MONTHS LATERLILLIANA’S POVThe strikes kept coming, left, right, left, right. I tried my best to avoid as much as I could, but soon enough, I couldn’t keep up, and one of them made contact, hitting me across the field, my body making a loud oomph as it landed on the floor.“You alright there Lil?” Erik asked from his side on the field where he was watching the sparring.“I’m good,” I responded breathlessly, jumping to my feet and dusting myself off. I resumed my fighting stance and approached my sparring partner again. This time I was careful to stand more firmly on my feet. The sparring continued for quite some time and I had managed to land my own strikes, though not enough to send her flying, and I managed to not be sent flying again.“Alright enough!” Erik called out, “It’s meal time. You can head on to eat.” I started to gather my things, when a shadow fell across me, it was Erik. He was staring me down, looking at me like he could not believe what he was looking at.“What?
Back at the residence, the White Sea pack had so kindly provided for us, I lugged a drunk Clarke into bed.“Gosh, you are heavy,” I said with a groan as I dropped him on the bed.“I am n-not heavy.” He slurred, “I am light as a feather.”“Sure you are buddy.” I patted his shoulder, then made my way to the bathroom to wash off the scent of alcohol that clung to my clothes.I got out of my clothes and stood in front of the mirror that hung over the sink, my eyes darted across my torso, lingering slightly in the scar that ran diagonally down my chest, starting from my right shoulder to my left hip. It was not a scar I liked to look at as the memories it brought back were far too annoying for me to deal with. It wasn’t a macho male type of thing, I simply was not ready to handle everything that would come if I decided to unpack the emotions that the scar brewed up within me.I stepped into the shower and set the water temperature to high and I turned it on. Soon, steam started to fill the
KILLIAN’S POVAnother day, another fucking country. I was beginning to get tired of all this travelling I was doing. I missed my pack, plus there was also the fact that I was starting to feel uneasy. Trouble was brewing back there and it disturbed me that I didn't know what it was and that I was not around to handle it. Instead, I was stuck here being diplomatic to this pompous fuck in front of me.“So Alpha Thorne,” The Alpha of the pack I was looking to form an alliance with said, “Why are you here exactly?”He was asking me this question again. Even though I had already answered him several times. He seemed to take delight in asking me the same thing over and over again, but in different forms; it was almost like he was trying to showcase his English skills.“As I’ve said before Alpha Bane, I wish for our packs to have a friendly relationship with each other. An alliance, if you will. So that in times of trouble we can be there for each other and we can also learn new ways that wil
