Chapter 39

I felt uncomfortable being back at school after what had happened last time I was here. I spent the whole morning worrying that Arthur was going to spring out from around every corner. Knowing that there was someone as powerful as him made me feel more vulnerable than I had ever felt before, even in all my years on the run as a child.

I needed to find some way of making my powers stronger but that was easier said than done. I had no idea how my powers worked so I had to rely on the books my mom left for me and those books were not easy to get through. There was so much information in them and a lot of it didn’t help me right now. What I really needed was some help with my research, that way I could get through the books much faster.

“Why do you look so miserable?” Charlotte asked me as she walked up behind me.
