CHAPTER 81

***Bethany's POV***

While keeping my gaze fixed on him, I simply shrugged off my shoulders. After a long absence, I told him, “You've been missing for some time.”

“Bethany, I miss you.”

His sudden embrace of my tiniest torso shook me to the core. In spite of my pleas, he refused to let go of me. Although his hands felt like they were crushing me, the sensation was a pleasant one. As if he was a part of my life, it was wonderful to see him again.

I told him, “I miss you too,” and he smiled. But that's all there was to it. I couldn’t continue being a fool for Jacob. He hurt me, and disappointed me several times, and going back to him was not an option.

“I am sorry for what happened,” he expressed his sympathy for the miscarriage but there was no guilt or remorse in his voice. What kind of man was I dealing with?

When I thought back to that day, I sighed and said, “Please don't bring it up.”

“Can you still forgive me, Bethany?” He inquired while staring into my eyes, and I shook my head
