Chapter 24: The Old Days

Noah's POV

I woke up with a heavy body. My head feels like it's going to explode, and my entire system is messed up. I sit up from bed and scan the room. There are still a lot of empty bottles of beer on the floor and unopened bottles of wine on the table.

I reached for my phone when it rang and answered the call without looking at the caller's ID.

[Noah, I'm outside,] I ended it immediately upon hearing Yanna's voice. It has been three days since we all said goodbye to my son, and it has also been three days since Yanna kept knocking on the door of my penthouse.

Sadly, I did not stay there last night. I stared at the huge wedding portrait of Averill and me in front of our bed. It was a picture we were forced to take before the actual marriage that I could not even attend.

I cannot read any emotion on my face in the photo, but Averill... she's smiling like it was all real. As if everything that happened was something we willingly agreed upon and the marriage was not forced.
