" Who's Eugene? "

Brielle froze in her place as she all of a sudden felt lightheaded. She looked up at Killian who was analyzing her shift in mood and waited patiently for her to respond.

" He's... my brother. I don't like talking about him much because Delilah will ask questions and that leads to me.. trying not to break down a few minutes later. "

" I've never heard you mention him once since we've been around each other. What happened if you don't mind me asking. "

" He went to the army when I was 16 and he's never been home since. He used to call twice a month maybe even three times to make sure I was ok but after a few years the calls got slower and eventually he just stopped. It's been almost a year and I haven't heard from him once. " Brielle said and she couldn't help the small tear that escaped her eye. Killian continued to stare at her and eventually more fell. He felt himself wanting to move to wipe them away but she shook her head.
