1 The Curse of Love

"Are you serious about breaking up?"

Yara didn't cry when she asked this to a man who a few minutes earlier was still her boyfriend.

"Sorry, Ra. I've tried to survive this relationship. But I realized that you are not my ideal type. You are ... too spoiled," replied Alvaro while playing with the glass in his hand.

"You know my principle, once we break up, there will be no chance to come back."

Yara deliberately held back her tears so as not to fall in front of men, her another principle.

The man in front of Yara nodded. "I need an independent woman, Ra. With my status as a manager, I can't deal with you who are too spoiled. I need a partner who can balance me."

Yara snorted in annoyance as she rolled her eyes lazily. "Ok. It's over. Finito. Thank you for everything you've ever given—" Yara seemed to think for a few seconds. "Eh, but it seems like you never give anything anyway. I gave most of it."

Alvaro was seen swallowing his saliva while trying to control the blush on his face.

"Enjoy your life, Alvaro Tarangga."

Yara came out of one of her favorite fast food outlets while straightening her shoulders and lifting her head. She won't be seen as a failure just because once again her relationship is ruined.

This isn't the first time Yara has had her heart broken. Her fingers wouldn't even be enough to count the number of relationships that ruined.

For some reason Yara drove her car to a coffee shop she was familiar with, her mother's coffee shop.

"Why am I here? It's like depositing my life," she muttered as she was about to turn off his car engine. Although Yara had doubts, in the end she chose to go down because one of her mother's employees had seen her whereabouts. It would be very strange if she suddenly left without entering first.

"Eh, Yara."

"Mommy in her room, right?" Yara asked one of her mother's employees.

"Yes. Do you wanna see her?”

"No, no, no, don't tell her that I'm here, okay? I don't want to disturb her." Yara stepped behind the coffee machine. He used to brew his own coffee while trying to explore the taste of her recipe. Sometimes if the menu she makes is approved by her mother and can be sold at the coffee shop, Yara gets a share from the sale of it.

After successfully making her new experiment, coffee added with coconut milk and a little condensed milk, Yara took a seat at one of the empty tables. She contacted Rian, her best friend.

"Yan, are you free? Let’s meet up. Go to Amigos Gading," she whined.

"is it free or do i have to pay?" Rian did not let go of the opportunity to torment the coffee shop owner's daughter.

"Free."

"Ck, you will definitely giving me the results of your experiment if it's free."

Yara laughed as she stared at the cup of coffee she had experimented with. "But this time is really good. Come on, don't be like a bad person. Come here. Urgent and very very important."

Almost half an hour Yara waited for her friend, even though Rian's house was not far. Yara snorted in annoyance when she saw Rian entering her mother's coffee shop wearing a dress that made her look much more feminine.

"Where are you going? Just meet me, and you are wearing a dress?"

"Hey, this is my resolution since last week, to wear a dress to show that I'm a real girl. It's crazy, because of my name, I'm often mistaken for a boy." Rian took a sitting position opposite Yara who looked lethargic that afternoon. "Why? What’s happened?"

"I just broke up," Yara answered briefly.

"Break up? Again?"

Yara nodded weakly then cupped her face on the table, shedding a tear which she quickly wiped away. Alvaro doesn't deserve her tears.

"Did he or did you decide?"

"What's the point, Yan? The point is the same, break up."

Ryan took a deep breath. She became a silent witness to how her best friend suffered because of her love story which always ended tragically.

"Wait, I need a drink first," said Rian who was just about to call one of the coffee shop employees, before Yara interrupted him with an order to her mother's employee to get Rian's experimental coffee from the refrigerator.

"I'm getting ready to listen to her vent, she even wants to poison me," Rian grumbled.

"This one is delicious, I swear. I guess I really have to break my heart before my coffee recipe can work."

Rian received a glass of coconut milk coffee, the latest menu from Yara's experiment. After taking a sip, Rian nodded in agreement with Yara's previous words.

"What's the reason he dumped you?" Rian asked curiously. "Shouldn't you be the one who dumped him? I've told you all along that he often takes advantage of you."

"He said ... I was too spoiled."

"I do really wanna swear in front of his face. You're said to be spoiled, but every time you go out, you picked him up, you paid everything."

"Come on, don't bring it up, I'm also really tired of acting spoiled." Yara laughed just like that after she said it.

Rian shuddered when she saw his best friend, who suddenly burst into laughter after a few seconds, as if she had no zest for life. "Well, this is what makes you never last forever in a relationship. You've never been yourself."

"What do you mean?"

"You always try to be someone else to please your boyfriend. It won't last long, Ra. The proof is now Varo dumped you because he said you were too spoiled. Ari, your previous boyfriend, dumped you because you were too independent."

"Can I get married if my relationship always ends like this? I want to be like anyone of our age who are already married."

Ryan rolled his eyes lazily. "why do you always talk about it? Hey, being single means we're preparing for the arrival of a better love. Positive thinking, Ra!"

"I hate Adam!"

Yara's words that suddenly carried the name 'Adam' succeeded in making Rian choke. "Why suddenly bring Adam's name?"

"This must be because of his curse on me when we were at senior high school. That damn person! He's the one who asked to break up, he's the one who accused me of various things, but instead left a curse that made my life miserable."

"There is no such thing as a curse in this world, Ra."

"There is," she argued. "That, Adam's words prove to be a curse for me until now."

Yara clenched her fists that were under the table. She remembers the words of Adam, her first love and first ex boyfriend in high school when they broke up. "I swear you won't be able to date forever. Anyway, you won't be able to get married until you can see me on the aisle."
