7 Couple Snatcher

"Yara, let's just eat out tonight, Adam's refrigerator doesn't have any food stock at all," Desi complained after doing a brief screening in the kitchen of Adam's apartment.

Hearing the middle-aged woman's grumbling, Yara, who was originally in front of the TV, went to the kitchen to talk more closely. "Ok, Tante, what do you want to eat for dinner? Or … do you want to go for a walk?"

"Eating fried rice with lamb looks delicious, Ra."

"Do you want delivery or eat there, Tante?"

After considering it for a moment, Desi decided to eat at the place, because according to her it was fun there.

"Is it okay to eat on the side of the road, Tan?"

"It's okay. Why? You're not used to it, are you?" asked Desi who became suspicious, because as she recalled, Adam had told her that Yara's family was much richer than Adam's family, and even made Adam feel inferior at that time.

Unexpectedly, Yara laughed at Tante Desi’s question. "No, Tante. That area is my hangout area. If you want, after eating fried rice, we'll go to Sabang, Tan. I will show you a roadside culinary paradise."

Yara never thought that the woman in front of her was still friendly to her, while Adam says that Tante Desi was difficult to get along with other people.

The ringing of Yara's cell phone, which she placed on the living room table, was loud enough to make her run to pick up the call. Yara has indeed installed a different ringtone for calls from her parents. Her promise to pick up the phone in the shortest possible time was the reason behind it.

"Wait a minute, Tante. I pick up the phone from Mama first. If I don't pick it up quickly, they might come here immediately." Yara then stepped aside, towards the dining room where there was a dining table and chairs for six people.

"Yes, Ma?" Mama and Papa's faces immediately filled the screen of his cell phone and made her chuckle because her father looked a little awkward. "Pa, why are you so stiff? You used to have meetings using video conferences. It's just a video call with your kids."

"Your Papa looks like that when he is working so that people will respect him."

Yara laughed again. "Is that so, Ma? I don't even know how busy Papa is at home."

"Tsk! Good! You dare to speak about me, in front of me," cursed Naren.

"That's called criticism, Pa." Ah, just a moment, Yara already feels homesick for her parents.

She was in Manado for two months, came home only occasionally, and now her uncle ask her to go to Papua. Because of that, Yara made every effort to stay close to her family, including obeying Adam's wishes.

"Is adam really out of town??" asked Naren who couldn't believe it.

"Yes, Pa." Yara then showed the whole room through her cell phone. "He’s not there, it's just me and Tante Desi."

"Ra." Rhea was seen glancing at her husband, and only after getting a nod, Rhea looked back at the screen. "Ra, can I talk to Adam's aunt? It's not that I don't believe you, I just want to talk to Adam’s aunt."

"Why? Right now? Why didn't you tell me yesterday, so I can talk to Aunt Desi first."

"Okay, it’s ok if you don’t want to do it."

Even with pursed lips, Yara walked towards the kitchen where a middle-aged woman was brewing tea.

"Tante," Yara called. Out of respect for the woman in front of her, Yara closed the camera and speakerphone. "Tante, is it ok if my Mom wants to talk to you?"

Desi looked a little surprised, but a second later her surprised expression turned into a smile. "It's okay, I am the one who should have permission from your parents first."

"Ma, this is Tante Desi who wants to talk." Yara then pointed her cell phone at Desi.

One second, two seconds, five seconds, still no one spoke, neither his mother nor the woman standing in front of her.

Yara turned her face back to the camera, "Ma!"

Not only Yara but also Naren looked at his wife in confusion.

"Tante Desi?" Yara called Desi who was still frozen in place.

"Desi?" The sound of her mama's screeching made Yara move her phone away.

"Mama, how come you're yelling anyway?" Yara huffed irritably as she rubbed her ears.

"Rhea?" Desi also shouted after hearing a scream from the woman who only showed her face from the phone screen.

"Gosh, Desi!"

"Mama knows Tante Desi?"

***

It was only a few hours before that Yara said goodbye to staying at Adam's apartment, and now Yara has returned to the family room of his own house, watching the two middle-aged women let go of the miss and talk about their college days.

"So, Mama and Tante Desi are college friends?"

The two nodded enthusiastically.

"From the beginning, I met Yara, I already liked her. I don't know why, it just feels good to chat with your daughter," Desi praised, which made Yara smile.

"When did you know Yara? Not just now? Yara said you live in Pontianak."

"In the past, Adam once took Yara to a family event to be known, I have known it for a long time, from their high school. It's a pity that they didn't continue their relationship. But I’m thankful, they can still be friends even though they have broken up."

"Friend?" Rhea looked at Yara, while Yara looked back at her Mama as if sending a message for her mama to cover up her true relationship with Adam.

But it seems that Yara has to learn again from this telepathic because her mama doesn't catch the message she sent in silence at all.

"What best friend? Adam is her ex she is the most hated. She said it was because Adam was telling her when they broke up, now she never got a serious boyfriend."

"Mama!"

Desi looked at Yara in confusion, what Adam told her with what she had just heard was much different. But she didn't care much about it, the important thing was that she could meet his best friend who had lost contact for a long time.

"It's okay, Ra. Later, you will get someone the best. But if you hate Adam, how come you want to help him accompany me here?"

"I miss Tante Desi," she said. Yara can't say that it was all for the sake of Adam's home interior project.

"Just stop talking about Adam. Do you want me to introduce you to someone? I have a lot of candidates if you want to,” said Naren.

"Later, Pa. I thought about it first."

"Don't let you have a crush on Adam anymore, he already has his future wife. Just watch out for you being a snatcher!" threatened Naren.

"I won't, Pa!"

"But I don't mind if you want to fight for Adam again."

The three pairs of eyes in the room immediately looked at Desi with incredulous and questioning looks.
